Engine Swap Worthwhile Or Nightmare
chrispb123456 replied to PAUL 123's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There will be a lot more work involved than just changing over the engine and gearbox, (that's the easy part) but doable if you have the time and space for both vehicles. My advice don't do the change over, just do what needs doing to the diesel then sell one or the other. -

Siezed Front Abs Sensor

You may have to drill the old one out, is the reluctor ring still intact around the drive shaft, they have a habit of rusting through and falling off. -
Can You Identify This
chrispb123456 replied to icecoolpsycho's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You cannot bodge these pipes/hoses you will need to replace with the correct part, as already said the part number is there, and yes they are expensive. If you decide to go ahead once the pipes been replaced you will need to have the system pressure tested and if OK regassed. -

Passenger Side Hand Brake Not Engaging
chrispb123456 replied to AdeF's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Common problem for the handbrake adjuster not working is the caliper arm is not going back to the fully off position In the picture of a MK3 caliper (MK2 similar) make sure the lever (green arrow) is contacting the stop peg(red arrow) with handbrake off. The cable could be slightly seized causing it not to return completly there should be a spring to pull the arm back, make sure this is present, try disconnecting the cable from the caliper, the caliper arm may be seized inside -
I think you are worrying unnecessarily the first stage fan will kick in approx 90+ degs second 95 to 100 and third over 100, with the cooling system under pressure this raises the boiling point to about 110-115 degs. So before you get the fans to come on you will need to be stuck in traffic on one of those hot summer days lol if we get any this year. This only applies to the diesel versions. I'm sure some other members will confirm this for you.

A badly bonded windscreen is certainly a possibility but check the scuttle drains under wiper linkage in either corner, also remove screws from the rear end of the front wheel arch liners, pull the liner out as this area also gets blocked with leaves and rubbish, also sun roof (if fitted) drain tubes can get blocked or disconnected.

Turbo Boost Pressure Valve
chrispb123456 replied to Dan Dare's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi and welcome to the forum Just to confirm you do mean a MK2 1.9TDI If so the valve (N75) controlling the amount of vacuum supplied to the turbo actuator is behind the heat shield on the bulkhead, there are three valves here from left to right N75, N239, N18. The other two valves control manifold flap and EGR valve respectively. Some pics to help explain. -
1.9td Fuse Box Burning Out
chrispb123456 replied to james B's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If caught early enough they can be soldered using a small blow lamp, would also advise soldering a new lead before fitting. -
You do need to have the radio switched on to use the DVD player. I suppose it's to late now but you should have made the dealer sort the keys properly, as you need two working keys to be able to program another. Doors should lock/unlock from all doors, when you put key in either front door does the key feel like it's not turning anything or is it going round and round if so you will need new lock kits like the one in this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-POLO-DOOR-LOCK-REPAIR-KIT-FRONT-RIGHT-/220681227283?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3361a04c13#ht_2300wt_1396

Stop using internet explorer, it won't work properly on this site. Firefox or google chrome works OK -
You need to scan it with Vagcom to determine whether under or overboost, both will cause limp mode, engine switch off and re start will re set till the next time

Central Locking Dead And Obd Port Dead
chrispb123456 replied to bertiee's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi The Mk1 doesn't have the extra fuse box but check the positive battery terminal there are a number of smaller wires attached make sure non have broken off or corroded, also that fuse 19 did you check it for power also with the fuse in place, any high resistance on that circuit and the voltage would drop to zero when it has a load on it, with the fuse removed it could show 12 volts put the fuse back in drops to nothing, worth a try. -
Not all fuses are present depends on model Fuse 28 3 amp is marked for instrument lighting
