Upgrade Your Vcr To Dvd For
Marky replied to Ex-Vec's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
I just fitted that JVC in the wifes car...superb bit of kit! You will need the aerial adapter, this needs a power supply to it, best to take it from the blue 'remote power' lead from the back of the jvc. This will only supply power when the HU is on....have fun! -

Avoid This Ebay Seller For Sat Nav
Marky replied to briggd01's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
I know its a bit late now but when I was checking out what was involved in installing an MFD I came across this guy on a few forums and not a lot of people had very good things to say about him  -
As Tim said, the radio needs to be on for the dvd player to work. I can mail you a copy of the manual if you can't wait for the postman!

To the right of those numbers is there the number...... 7 612 001 040 If this part number is present on your unit you have a version d unit which will use the Teleatlas DX map disc.
-
Hi Ron, the only definate way to know which disc you require would be to remove the unit and check the part number/build date. There are only two types of disc that it can be but I would hazard a guess based on the year of your Gal that you need the Teleatlas DX Map Disc. Earlier versions of the unit use the NON-DX disc. Hope this helps Mark

Nice one Dave....and welcome to the forum !!

Give Ford a try but they will probably tell you that you need to sort the problem with the dealer principal as your problem is with the dealer and not Ford UK !! This is the response I got from them and I work for...........Ford UK (indirectly)!!!! :( :(

Wots going on with the smileys??!!??!!?? that should read version b by the way !! :D

Thats right steve, but the later versions of the blaupunkt navi unit (version c,d & g) all work perfectly from the gala pulse. The earlier versions (like my version :D work ok on the gala (about 30 yards out) but to work perfectly need a pulse from the abs module. I ripped out the battery, expansion bottle and all associated bits armed with the wiring diagram from the TIS disc to take an abs feed from the abs module only to discover the connector and wiring colours COMPLETELY different to the ones listed on the TIS!! Looks like VW wiring colours to me so back to the drawing board at the moment!
-
Oscar it is definately because you haven't got the gala to pin 5 on the 26 pin connector on the back of the navi unit...the gala feed into the power connector is just to enable the gala volume adjustment of the unit. Make sure you make a good connection into the loom, this gala feed is the cause of 99% of the problems related to retro fit units!!! I take it you've got a blue 26 pin connector to wire in? Steve...having just bought a unit 'on impluse' they are an absolute minefield!! There are five different versions of the units and depending on the version depends on where it gets its wheel pulse from! It can be from the abs module/can bus or gala. By the sound of it Oscar has got a newer version which will work fine with the gala feed attached to the correct pin.
-
What exactly did the sat nav unit say? Did it say 'you are not on a digitized road'? If it said this it means you've got a problem with the gala feed to the unit... this is the violet wire from the loom and should go to pin 5 on the 26pin adapter on the back of the navi unit... HTH Mark

No Power After Battery Disconnected?
Marky replied to Marky's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Continue preening Mo4! Thanks for that Bigdaddy :) :) :) -
Didn't you use a Ford to ISO adapter lead???? This would have been LOADS easier than chopping the existing loom and they are only 4 quid! I used one but had to swap the perm/switched live as these adapters are notorius for being the wrong way round! I may be taking my unit out over the weekend to add an AV interface let me know if your'e still having trouble and I'll note all the feeds on the back of mine. Mark
-
Hi John...Have you tried another copy of the nav disc? They can be a bit fussy as to the type/quality of the CDR used for your backup of the original you don't want to ruin ( ) ATB Mark

Brigg You need the VW changer AND lead as the MFD is a Blaupunkt unit made for VW...I got round it by purchasing a Connects 2 Cd interface (50 quid from Halfords) and I had a Sony T69 six disc changer and lead from the doris's old car and used this. There are two different types of adapters, one that plugs directly into the head unit then you plug the sony lead into it, and the second sits on the end of the VW lead then plugs into the changer, If you go doen this route it is the first one that you need, this will save you some money as you won't need to buy a vw lead (about 20 quid). The Sony changers are about 120 quid so you'd be looking at 170ish all in. It might be worth checking out your local Halfords cos I think they'd probably fit it for you as well!

About 50 quid through your insurance if you are fully comp... No loss of NCB either...

No Power After Battery Disconnected?
Marky replied to Marky's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Oooooopppss!! Having taken the battery out and checked the connections at the back it appears that in my haste to finish the job I hadn't pushed home a connector all of the way! However...scanning through the TIS disc I found this entry under 'Battery Disconnection'.... When the battery has been disconnected and connected, the stored idle and drive values contained within the powertrain control module (PCM) will have been erased. The following steps must be carried out to allow the PCM to relearn these values. Start and run the engine at idle for three minutes. When the engine reaches normal operating temperature, increase the engine speed to 1200 rpm and maintain for approximately two minutes. Drive the vehicle for approximately five miles/eight kilometers of varied driving. I hope the above may be of use to someone but please heed the moral of the story...don't rush and re-check all of your connections!!! -

No Power After Battery Disconnected?
Marky replied to Marky's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry...battery fine....no pulling power from the engine..no acceleration at all dangerous to drive actually!! -
Hi all....had the battery off today to get to the plug on the abs module, put everything back, started up (after a few turns of the engine) then drove home with no power at all!! Manula says 'take a drive for 5 miles for the ecu to recalibrate'...driven 15 miles still no good! Has it gone into safe/limp mode? If it has is it a vag.com job to get it back? Phoned fords...absolutely uselesss!!! Sorry for the garbled post...got a two year old insisting on helping me type !! Thanks in advance..

Non Standard Alloys
Marky replied to Scorpiorefugee's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I wouldn't fit them...tooooo risky! You need a wheel that has 5x112 PCD (stud pattern) 57.1mm centre bore diameter and an offset of 35-45..something off an Audi a4/a6, VW passatt, some merc's will do the job nicely....
