  1. well the light can mean owt it needs to be diagnosed buy a cheapo obd2 reader off ebay bout
  2. so will a obd2 compliant reader from 01 all petrol and 04 all diesel must be obd2 compliant
  3. make sure engine not running. yes it will clear it with free version. take no notice of the fault it may be an old fault. once cleared if it comes back then its a fault. does your aircon work if so its not faulty if it dont work then it could be outa gas on mk1 the switch i think is in offside wing take the indicator out and thats the fill point and sure ssitch is there
  4. plugs are massive difference, heater uses a short stumpy plug engine uses a long plug so u cant really mix them up and the price his paid points to aux heater plug. out of intrest im using cheap ebay glow plugs working now for 3 yrs no probs, mate bought expensive bosch ones lasted 2 mths before he checked them out of interest and 2 were dead. some times paying loadsa cash dont make it better also ive got a 15sec glow timer external on mine made by Bosch so plugs get a bigger bashing than norm as every ign switch on gives 15secs of glow regardless of temp or Ecu control
  5. well tell em the fault give them the keys and say "fix it please" not sure but think them engines use a coil pack on the plug itself chance its breaking down. (im a tdi person)beware of these g/tes is it the garage doing the g/tee or a third party company if the later not worth the paper its printed on
  6. i still reckon its your timing, if i was near you id sort it out. did you do the timing exactly as the instructions. pump dont need coding up as its the ecu that does the graft. had a thought as you seem capable of doing stuff take out one of your injectors if you can they get stuck in place so take care.slacken the pipe off and twist it about so you can reconnect injector and give it a crank see if you get a nice spray of derv out of it. just coz you get derv out of pipe when cracked doesnt mean its got pressure for injector to open
  7. no relays are used so its out of switch down to front and rear fogs, check at switch see whats going on tho if one fog light is ok then its a high resistance joint so run a new feed from one to other to replicate original wiring and bypass the fault. comes off fuse 1 to switch then one wire out down to front fogs same on rear, if that helps. also check with engine running and make sure your using a good earth
  8. memory serves me right its plastic bumber then foam stuff the steel. i left bumper on drilled the hole after lots of carefull measuring and slipped the wire down behind foam after making a groove, however if u have a towbar the foam etc isnt there
  9. dont worry about it, as long as its whitish its diesel oil your burning. enjoy the car for what it is a oil burner as all diesels are. does it fire instantly on cold morns or do u have to crank it, if so its glowplug checking time

  11. best thing to do is get the repair done then take it to another garage and ask how much for a pre mot or get another mot on car, i kow quite a few mot testers and when i take my car i tell them to go thru it like a dose of salts as i like my car safe same as you, dont go along the vosa route unless your 100% sure about it hence re mot car or when your at the place getting the free work done ask dude to give it a right going over tell him your worries

  17. i got mine from NPA motor factors stll going strong after 3 years with no noise off you however fitted a st on a ford ka same make and only lasted 6 mths, case of pays your money. check price of drop links from all 3 dealers seat alhambra, ford galaxy and vw sharan all same part but 3 different prices

  23. you cant detect drop link play as its under pressure for the cost of a pair i;d just change them you'd prob find thats your rattle as description points to it.
  24. if its petrol then no it'll only read abs and airbags on the gal 2 and 2.3L not sure on 2.8 if its tdi then it'll do the lot
  25. norm on the over run when it opens, if its running well now and doing all the right things its sorted, it was the pipe on the egr valve itself you blocked off as it shouldnt affect the turbo at all
