ah then you need vagcom on that model, check the air stat on wiper linkage tho that doesnt affect vagcom from talking to it, also check the fuses as if i think on theres 2 fuses one for the constant 12v and the other switched 12v. have a look thru my back posts ive put all the info regarding pin outs and what they do on here

what can happen is when they time it up with pin etc you need to pull the pump back on its spring tension to use the right teeth or the engine is retarded which norm cant be timed out unless you have vagcom and then it sometimes is not enough movement on pump,which makes starting a pig, this is only for mk1 non pd tho good god 2 hrs to take mount and undertray off they must be blind, 4 bolts and 2 nuts the trays off approx 10-15mins and thats being lazy the left hand mount is only 4 or is it 5 bolts with jack underneath, rocker box 3 nuts, vent pipe pulls off, timing the engine is a twat on manual so just unclip the turbo pipes outaway and use a torch to find mark however if its just a swap locking cam should have everything about right place. as you can tell i hate people being ripped off over things like this. they get the times from autodata which is approx 4.3 hrs they take into account fag and tea breaks and working out why cars not starting as well i suppose

not a normal bulb you need one with leads coming off them to fit it into the holder, leds need a resistor inline depeng on the type its 470ohm for normal led and 220ohm for high brightness. but total waste of time as the lighting is useless on the heater controls. i got hold of some micro bulbs 0.5w each and wired 6 of them up 2 per control now lit up nice and bright

lots of questions answered many thanks, just wish i could get the old oil as ive got the ideal place to make it now. once ran out of derv near a lidl just bought 10L of oil and stood at side of road pouring it in got some wierd looks. and yes the xud engine would run on absolutly owt you put into it as seeming french derv is crap. now then transformer oil when i worked for neeb used to get 50gal drums of that stuff for a mate to flush engines out before a oil change wish i could get drums of it now.

i use one on mine first thing i did once fixed and it makes a difference being in full control of heater rather than a thermo switch dont think you can use any switches fitted to the car as they only make when pushed in apart from the round rear blower theres plenty of switches in maplins that'll fit into one of the blanks so its nice and neat, you need a latching push or rocker switch

depends on the car mk1 doesn't show on vagcom as its a 3kw htr the mk2 is a 5kw. tell us what car it is. look at wiper linkage bar battery side of car and theres a sensor there with 2 wires short it out then start car see if it fires up

good reading this thread, me and my bro were going to do it years ago but trying to get the old oil was nearly impossible as a local firm got in first, i used to buy aldi cooking oil at 36p per l and run it in my xantia with bosch pump and never had a problem whereas my mates had a lucas pump which wore out its bearings or something. does your bio smell when engine running as mine stunk of the burnt oil and i mean it stunk like a chip pan fire. sure the names for oil was svo ( straight veg oil ) and wvo (waste veg oil ) when i got my sharan was told never run on bio turns out having read the aux heater info from erbaspacher it turns out that the engine is ok but dont run aux heater with bio thats if it does run. whats the score in winter does the engine start up ok and do you have to put anti freeze stuff in the bio.

as we cant see car best is to examine all pipes as thats where its coming from. So its down to you im afraid to find it

110hp uses vnt15 or gt1749v both vnt units both will will fit as mine was a vnt15 now its got the gt1749v sharan/galaxy/alhambra all same check out other 1.9tdi units as the passat one fits not sure about rest of them. as above yes stall engine if it happens if you can depends how good clutch is as i read of a guy in usa with a rabbit (golf) ripped his clutch to bits the engine went cosmic and blew its brains out. Very common on renaults for engine to blow not so much on vw's when turbo goes

its the oil left in exhaust just done mine and exact the same, have you changed oil and filter, did you check your air filter, you find when the turbo kicks in the exhaust gets hotter so it burns oil off, i had flames outa my pipes just last week

last week while playing with dodgepot in a clio 170 my turbo went at 90mph (thats how i beat him) anyhow i had runaway exact same as you. take the pipe off going to the inlet and see iff its soaked in oil. My airbox right thru to inlet was drowned in oil it turns out the shaft had snapped so loadsa oil at high pressure went into system, new turbo off ebay for

mine does that sometimes, check to see if any interior lights are on. it was my boot not shut proper

gear stick light?? must be an auto then. lift lever surround up and its just there follow the 2 wires. all other lights are easy to do, the fan/heater lights are useless as theres only 1 bulb does it, ive put 4 micro lights in and you can see whats what now

it picks up the fuel level from the fuel gauge and works it out with mpg to give you miles left so check the gauge next time it does it
