  1. assuming yor talking about the brake servo, no there shouldn't be oil in there. Are you sure it's not brake fluid leaking from master cylinder. Is the end of the pipe split, it needs to be a tight fit.
  2. Hi there Type in your reg here should give you your details. http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=6150D099234FCAA8E466FC1AA4165572.dulv1365
  3. Hi Steve O Welcome to the forum If the problems arise when engines hot, maybe temperature sensors faulty. Also check for perished/split vacuum hoses and condition of engine wiring harness Other items to check are plugs and leads, coil packs. Unfortunately VagCom will not read the engine module as you have the 2.3 ford engine
  4. Hi Scott and welcome to the forum First place to look is the wiring in the tail gate as this can cause all sorts of problems you may need to check for blown fuses also. Are the parking sensors doing anything at all? the flooded footwell problem can knacker the control unit or may be one or several of the sensors U/S ps I see from your other post you have an 03 TDI, if you go to your profile signature you can put those details in plus the engine code eg, AUY,ASD,or ARL and manual or automatic. Saves you remembering every time you post.
  5. Check electric coolant pump (run on pump) for operation, and also the booster heater mounted under n/s/r passenger floor. If you find pump not working this will affect correct operation of booster heater. Booster heater may need to be interogated with vagcom for stored faults. There is a lot of help with both these items using the search box and in the FAQ's of the technical section.
  6. Have you changed the pollen filter lately?
  7. There is no dipstick for checking transmission fluid. There are filler, level, and drain plugs, position varies depending whether four or five speed you will also need vagcom to check the fluid temperature which needs to be between 35-45 deg c. There's more info in the FAQ's in the technical section
  8. Hi there The engine code would be more useful, Zetec is only referring to the trim level.
  9. Hi Paul As you only have the glow plug fault then it's probably been working OK up until the plug fault, to get flame out faults the unit would have been running then shut down unexpectedly. Be carefull undoing the small torx screws they will round off or even shear off very easily, make sure the heads of the screws are clear then give them a good soaking in penetrating fluid.
  10. Hi Paul Are you using Vag Com 409.1 or VCDS lite software?
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum You need to check for broken/frayed wiring in the door gaiters in particular the drivers door, causes all sorts of problems and is quite common, you may need to check fuses as well
  12. Hi there And welcome to the forum The control module for the parking sensors is in the well (and it may be literally) under the front passenger seat. You can suffer wet carpet from a disconnected rear washer pipe which runs under the carpet this can and probably has become detached at some point and has drowned the control module (common problem) The switch on the dash is just spring loaded, it doesn't click in, it can be used to activate/deactivate beeping, full description is in the handbook. Hope that helps :D
  13. Check for perished/split vacuum hoses this will cause idle speed to rise, if they are OK remove and clean out the idle speed control valve with a decarboniser
  14. Hi there Just to clarify the handbook numbers relay 30 (power) in position R27. Relay 167 (fuel pump) in position R24
  15. Of course they will try to get out of doing it, but take it back, have a moan as long as it's covered by the warranty thats what your paying for. Good luck. :) Chris
  16. Hi Jim Have attached a pic of the vacuum pipe layout may make things a bit clearer for you. The N75 valve is what controls the actuator rod which operates the vanes on the turbo. N 239 and N 18 control actuators on the EGR valve.
  17. Hi Jim As you had the vanes cleaned then they need to check all those vacuum pipes and possibly N75 valve this controls the turbo actuator, this is hidden behind a small heat shield on the bulkhead behind EGR valve.
  18. IIRC the brake pad light is amber and is to the left of the low fuel warning on the MK2 2.8 and TDI
  19. Have you checked the rear pads?
  20. Have a look at fuse 8 in main fuse box
  21. Hi there As you have only just acquired the car I think you have forget about what you have been told with the turbo, possible valve/piston damage could have been caused by cambelt failure. Have a look at the belt see if it looks new. Excess oil in the intake may be down to crankcase compression.
  22. Hi there Intank fuel pump or relay maybe!!
  23. Yes they do stay on after engine has started, how long they stay on varies with temperature and PCM. You could do a basic continuity test on each plug without removal, just pull off the bus bar connector and check continuity between centre terminal and earth.
  24. Hi Dave And a big welcome to the forum
