  10. dont understand why you had to touch the seal,i take it either 1 of the window clamps came adrift or youve suffered the dreaded over run with the cable system hence why the window got stuck in the down position?. best bet is to try your local scrappy iirc they just push in???
  11. ive got 1 in my garage, minus the clutch to it as i robbed it when my clutch decided to part company with the compressor. i bought it 2nd hand and was assured it was working properly???

  15. have no idea, but on some other forums i use there does seem to be a consensus of updating seems to cure all ills?????????????? might also be a throttle valve problem, dmf, imobilizer it might save you a lot of hassle and money to get it plugged into an ids diagnostic system or do the onboard fault test yourself to see if any faults are logged.
  16. is this check done with just the centre vent open?
  17. im wondering if it requires a software update. from research there does seem to be a few problems with the mk3 and smax.
  18. thank you looked there but there is only a glove compartment, with air conditioning unit behind it....there is fuse box on drivers side below steering column, BUT fuses go from 51 to 62 and I require fuse 37? iirc there are 3 levels.
  19. blimey thats a new 1 on me,never saw that thread from 2005.:D long shot wondering if it only works on the mk2 and not the mk1???????
  20. However I did find the cause of exhaust smells in the cabin at start up. The exhasut manifold has snapped one of the studs. I have tried drilling it out in situ to no avail. Looks like a big bill to get it all sorted by the village garage :-( what drill bits are you using, best to use cobalt bits.then a stud extractor.
  21. welcome back, are you using the same user name?
  22. start with checking the wires in the rubber gaitors in the doors. Errm...... how does he do that if he cant open the door? he can check all the others cant he ;) just in case it is the others causing the problems?????? after re reading it again follow seat kids advice, missed the bit where he says opening it from the outside now doesnt work :)
  23. when you here the noise is the sircon turned on? if so it might be the clutch plate on the air con compressor working itself lose. or the dreaded pully on the alternator?.
