  1. are you sure its the power steering and not the alternator pully/tensioner? sounds like metallic twitering.

  5. you do mean batteries dont you? :) iirc there are 2. if you have and it still doesnt work then it may be the pcb has a problem like its snapped/or a dry solder. WHAT EVER YOU DO.DO NOT LOSE THE PATS CHIP.
  6. i think you need to take the door card off to investigate,it may be that the cable has overun or come adrift from the pulley wheels?? once you have investigated then post back here for some more info.
  7. welcome to the forum im sure someone put up a pdf on here somewhere :) now as your a teacher you can either pay vast ammounts of dosh to a garage or get your hands dirty, :P take a look in the faqs found in the thec section of the forum,here you will find detailed instructions on repairing broken wires within the door gaitors.read up then decide if this is your problem,I RECKON IT IS ;)
  8. are you sure they checked everything and there are no leaks??? it could be anything to do with the aircon system,do a search within the forum on aircon there has been a lot of posts over the years on this subject and there may well be info posted which you may find helpful.

  12. quite possibly,be a bit expesive/silly to change the clutch and not the dmf. the smax is a similar car and there is a lot of posts about the subject in internet land.
  13. check this thread out, http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/11428-alternator-workshop-error-noisy-at-idle/page__st__45 on page 4 adrianf mentions using either a 17 or 19mm spanner to release the tension on the unit,i knew these intructions were around as i followed them when i done mine. within the thread it will tell you the method on how to change the tensioner. when i done mine i bought the pully from gsf and the tensioner from vw as it was cheaper but that was for my old mk2 tdi.

  18. im tempted to say disconect your main battery and the abs module as apparently this has a battery in it aswell? making sure you have all/any codes for radio etc. just to see if it resets itself.
  19. well done a bit of a search for you,as the mk3 info is a bit patchy.so this info is for the smax(pretty much the same) and it could well be the abs module or (the alarm box(found under the wheel arch)apparently the box has some kind of battery in it??

  25. iirc its off the hand brake linkage,now im sure seatkid put a piccy of this up ages ago?? do a search on hand brakes see what gets thrown up. oh and welcome to the forum.
