  1. Would you mind sharing this information for the benefit of other Mk1 owners?
  2. According to Parkers there wasn't a 1.9TD GLX. Their dealer price for a 1.9TD LX with 70K is
  3. Perhaps a little late but I've just seen this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=120160738574 It says they're available for all Galaxies.
  4. F15 is for the engine cooling fan run-on relay which ties in with your symptoms, i.e. it doesn't blow when the engine's cold. Does the fuse blow when the fan kicks in? Check for a short circuit / fault in the cooling fan circuit.
  5. If it comes on when the cruise control is not on then it could mean a fault. However, it should be on continuously while the cruise control is on.
  6. Definitely the cruise control indicator but should only be on when the cruise control is operational.
  7. Sorry, but mine's neither a Ghia or a Mk1! ;)
  8. How do you find the performance compared with the Vectra? ;)
  9. So you have 2 VWs then! What's the 17K one?
  10. Perhaps not quite as bad because it's the Mazda-designed all alloy 16v engine whereas the old 2.0l was an 8v unit. The new engine develops 145PS (same as old 2.3) and 190Nm of torque but you'd still have to work it hard in a car of this weight.
  11. These are listed as suitable for the Mk1 Galaxy so I don't understand why you think the headlamps are not capable of taking them? http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=43 The issue seems to be whether you can achieve the claimed 80% extra light with your existing headlamp units - "X-treme Power headlamps project up to 80 per cent more light on the road ahead (depending on the type of head lighting unit used in the car)."
  12. ... but you can't get a 2.0 petrol automatic which I think is where the issue is. All the information you need should be in here though - http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/galaxy/-/sbe_glx06_ebro/-/-/-/404# (Download PDF)
  13. Correct Duratorq TDCi = DIESEL, Duratec = PETROL The 2.3 is a recent (mid-2007) addition to provide a petrol automatic model. The 2.0 Duratec (petrol) would not have been man enough for the job.
  14. The FIS (Ford Information System?) display in the centre (black rectangle) should normally be blank during driving - it is where various warning lights would appear if there was a problem. Sorry, can't help with your other problem - I assume you mean the digital odometer (where the mileage is normally displayed)?
  15. Not nice to look at but appears purely cosmetic. There are "tyre injury fillers" available but would probably end up costing as much if not more than a new tyre. They're generally used on heavy plant vehicles where the tyres are obviously much more expensive and makes such a repair cost effective.
  16. Agreed, nevertheless it is a recognised problem - http://www.smaxownersclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1235 However, at least following the correct starting procedure, i.e. waiting a few seconds after the glow plug light goes out would eliminate this as the cause of the problem.
  17. The transponder chip is what makes it unique to your car, otherwise anyone with a key without a transponder chip could open it!
  18. How would the Dealers manage without a TIS?
  19. What size tyres are they, e.g. 215/55 R16? If it's the new model Galaxy, do you have "run-flat" tyres fitted?
  20. RTFM - Read The F******* Manual or, perhaps more politely, Read The Forum Mate??
  21. In the TIS it mentions both electrical and fuel-fired auxiliary heating systems for the diesel models so it should have one or the other.
  22. There isn't a wastegate because you have a variable nozzle turbocharger and it's a diesel (no throttle valve). Personally, I would return it to the Dealer and complain since it only appeared after they worked on it.
  23. You could try this - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...st&p=113051
  24. Have a look at point 3 here - http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/Referen...0law%20requires - it sounds like you should be OK. (cut and pasted here - "3. No tyre must have a break in its fabric or a cut deep enough to reach the body cords. No cut must be more than 25mm or 10 per cent of the tyre's section width in length, whichever is the greater.")
