Electric Window Only Goes Down When Up Pressed!
insider replied to a62vw's topic in Trainee member help
...but are they correct at the window module? Crossed wires here would mean that all switches operate the window in the same way - as you describe. On the Galaxy, red/yellow should go to pin 15 of the connector and green/white to pin 3. -

You need to find out what function these cables perform - doesn't it explain this in the instructions? I can sort of understand the handbrake switch, i.e. the screen would only work when the car is stationary with the handbrake applied. I can't understand the reason for the footbrake switch because this would provide an intermittent signal, i.e. only when the brake pedal is pressed. Anyway, connecting to the power supply side would mean that the screen is looking for a path to ground when the switch is activated. Therefore, you should be able to test this by connecting the cables to directly to ground. The screen would then "see" both switches activated. But, not knowing the function of these cables and what signals the screen is looking for means it's pure guesswork at the moment. Could you post more information from the instructions?

Too much current going through it. You need to find out where the extra current is going to isolate the fault.

It has both EGR and secondary air injection for emissions control.

Auto Gear Lever Light
insider replied to galaxy-one's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Does the lamp in the ashtray work? If not, it can be accessed by simply pulling the ashtray out. This might also light the gear selector. If not, you'll have to remove the trim around the gear selector. First remove the bolt in the LH side towards the top of the selector and pull off the trim around the selector lever. Then unclip the shield at the base of the lever. I guess the lamp would be somewhere behind there. -
The colour code for the power supply side of the switches is: Foot brake - red/yellow. Handbrake - brown/white (Mk2) or brown/green (Mk1). In both cases the ground wire is brown.

The RH side is grey/red The LH side is grey/black

Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold

Just the one? ;) -
What you're describing doesn't sound unusual or abnormal. You say that it is "overheating" and that "The fan doesnt kick in until it is nearly in the red". I assume that when the fan does come on the temperature returns to normal? Overheating would be if the gauge actually went into the red and stayed there even with the fan staying on. The probable reason for the temperature not increasing with the aircon on is that there is normally a second fan for the aircon condenser. This fan is probably providing additional air flow to cool the engine.

I think this is only true for problems that were there at the time of the sale. Faults that develop afterwards would not apply, i.e. I'm sure the dealer would have little problem proving that the gearbox was OK at the time the car was sold.

Turn Off Passenger Airbag
insider replied to groundbased's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Just one fuse (27) for all the airbags. -
Sorry, I think I might have misled you! The age of your car suggests it may be Oyster Silver. Ford (slightly) changed the colour when they freshened the Mk IIs, the difference being chrome around the fog lights and front grille and a different rear light cluster (see below). Platinum is a marginally lighter shade used on the later models. This is important to know to avoid you getting the wrong shade if you decide to touch any of the paintwork up. Oyster Silver Platinum

No, it can't be a parrot cos there's not enough letters. I think it's something French but it can't be a French parrot either cos that's too many letters (perroquet)!

You're right, 30 and 50 should only be connected at position 3 so it sounds like the switch is at fault. 50 is connected to the starter motor solenoid via Fuse 26 and the immobiliser so if it's getting 12v in position 2 the starter will run all the time the ignition is on. If the fault in the ignition switch cannot be repaired then it will have to be replaced. Then he'll have to decide whether or not to get matching door locks too or accept having two different keys for the car as another member has recently found.

Sorry, no photo but this might be of use (no.2 is the sensor you want, no.1 is the ECT sensor - engine temp. signal to ECU):

Turn Off Passenger Airbag
insider replied to groundbased's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Some cars (Renault I believe) have key switches in the passenger door enabling the airbag to be disabled as and when required. In cars without this feature it is possible to disable the airbag but this would have to be done by an approved garage and should be clearly indicated to future purchasers if you should sell the vehicle. Of course, it could be re-enabled again and you'll pay for the privilege each time! It might also be possible to add a key switch disabling feature to the Galaxy. I am not aware of one but would recommend this is only done by an approved Ford/VW dealer. -
The sensor should be at the rear of the engine on the passenger side. There should be a white/red wire coming from it that changes to yellow/red at a connector (pin 19) returning to the instrument panel. If you disconnect the connector to the sensor and touch it to a suitable ground point (engine block) to check that the gauge needle moves (ignition would need to be on). This would confirm that the sensor is at fault, otherwise there could be a fault in the wiring back to the instrument cluster or in the gauge itself.

Turn Off Passenger Airbag
insider replied to groundbased's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Definitely no rear-facing child seats in the front. Front-facing booster seats are acceptable but not desirable unless the airbag can be disabled (which it can't in the Galaxy). That is why they suggest putting the seat back as far as possible to minimise any effect if the airbag deploys. It is recommended to only use the front seat with a booster cushion if you have no other option, i.e. you've used all the other five rear seats! -
Women and their cosmetics! ^_^ Perhaps if you gave the Mk III a makeover it would be more desirable? ^_^

Just to confirm, is this manually calculated or read from the trip computer?
