How about this for a classic clip -

Must be that one by Dexy's Midnight Runners!

Excerpts from the T&Cs of what is not covered by two well-known breakdown organisations: "Please note: Motorised vehicles that are manufactured without the provision of a spare wheel will be considered on their individual merits." "any additional charges resulting from Your failure to carry a legal and serviceable spare wheel or tyre, except where this is not provided as manufacturers standard equipment." So, if you notify them in advance that the car was manufactured without a spare and they accept your payment based on that then they cannot refuse to assist you.

Yet Another Car Insurance Thread.
insider replied to mumof4's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
That could be because you usually get an extra discount (10%?) for buying online. If you phone the insurance company the quote is usually more than if you use their website to get the quote. -

You don't have to like them or even buy through them. Use them to point you in the direction of who is cheapest, then go direct! -
I don't think the heated windscreen was available on the VWs or Seats.

S Max? Same Problems As New Galaxy?
insider replied to mike99's topic in Questions about the New MKIII
The S-MAX is basically the same car as the Galaxy, built in the same factory and shares most of the components and engines (except for the Volvo 2.5T petrol engine which is only available on the S-MAX). Therefore, you can expect very similar problems on both vehicles. However, bear in mind that people will write copiously about their problems but rarely about how good and problem-free their car has been. Compare the volume of sales with the number of problems and you should find that the vast majority haven't suffered any problems. You might be one of these! Problems with DPFs are not exclusive to Ford - you could always buy one with a petrol engine then you won't have one! -
Could be - best to get some quotes from local garages but might not be economical compared to the value of the car. It depends on the mileage and general condition of the car and whether or not you want to keep it much longer. Alternatively you could just live with the noise until it fails completely then change the car! It could also be the valve clearances which are much easier to check and adjust.

Unlock The Digital Dash On Fords - Does It Work?
insider replied to ozzynet's topic in Trainee member help
The self-test is available on new Ford models from around 2005. If you have a trip computer you press the OK button instead of the reset button. It won't work on the Mk1 or Mk2 Galaxy but will work on the Mk3. -
Not quite, you should do the maths first. As tim-spam says "especially for larger cars (such as MPV's) and average and above mileages" You need to calculate your expected petrol/diesel usage according to your annual mileage, along with the tax and insurance costs and the expected future value of the car for the period of time you expect to own it. The saving in fuel cost does not always outweigh the higher initial purchase price of a diesel car. (That's assuming cost is your primary concern).

The article seems to suggest that you're safe if you have savings or fixed-rate mortgages with them, it's just those with variable-rate mortgages that will see a higher interest rate. Northern Rock have just had to borrow, at a higher interest rate, from the Bank of England because no other banks want to lend money to each other at the moment. Any chance of moving some of those savings elsewhere to hedge your bets?

I wouldn't let that stop you complaining, both to the dealer and Ford Customer services. Perhaps if they replace the pump under warranty the new one won't make the same noise?
-
... of course there was the possibility that it was simpler than that - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...st&p=115586

My advice, which probably won't help you, but I'll give it anyway - avoid French cars!

From the description on ebay "I bought it as a spare and had to use the lights" it suggests that there were originally lights with the grille. So, you might be unlucky and find it doesn't fit unless you buy the appropriate lights too!

Unusual Electrical Faults....
insider replied to mancini602's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sounds like a bad connection to the instrument cluster. -
Not a lot to go on here! Presumably it's a radiator grille manufactured by Projectzwo? Do you have a Mk1 Galaxy (Sharan or Alhambra)? Do you already have the grille or are you looking to buy one? If you already have it then there should be instructions with it or you should be able to work it out from the bits you have. If not, I'd suggest contacting Projectzwo directly to ask them. In my opinion I wouldn't have thought you'd need to change the headlights too. I'm sure they'd make it as straightforward and cost effective as possible (unlike the car manufacturers!)

On the Mk2 there is no orange service light. "SERVICE" will appear in the LCD screen for a few seconds before the mileage is displayed. This can be easily reset using the procedures described. If your orange light is the an engine symbol then the ECU is telling you that there is a fault somewhere. The fault code(s) would need to be checked by someone with diagnostic equipment. Another blonde moment? LX = trim level (LX, Zetec or Ghia) TDI = engine

Is it a diesel (2.0 TDCi) or petrol? If diesel, I believe the 2.0 TDCi is the only model with electro-hydraulic power steering, all others have hydraulic. Could it be the power steering electric motor/pump causing this whine? Being a new car though I would get it back to the Dealer to sort out asap.
