  1. No, it never gets anywhere near the rev limit. It might get to 3,000, drop back to 2,000, then back up again, etc.
  2. I bought a new Ford Galaxy TDI 115 manual in February 2005. It has now covered 10,000 miles and had its first service back in February 2006. I've noticed an interesting phenomenon during acceleration. It usually occurs in higher gears (3rd or 4th) from cruising at a constant speed, e.g. 30mph, then suddenly flooring the accelerator. After the short turbo lag the engine seems to surge, then drops back, then surges again and drops back, etc. as though it is oscillating (the accelerator pedal position is unchanged throughout). Is the drop in engine revs caused by the ECU compensating for over-boost? Is this a normal occurrence or does the engine need some fine tuning? I also understand that this vehicle has a dual-mass flywheel. Is it possible that this is not damping the engine oscillations? Should I just get the Dealer to sort it out at the next service?
  3. The latest information I have on engine codes on the VIN plate are listed below. Therefore the 130PS diesel would have an engine code 'J'. A: 1.9 SOHC TC 90PS PD B: 1.9 TC 115PS PD C: 2.0 SOHC VW ST4 D: DAG 2.3 DOHC E: 1.8 DOHC ST4 F: 1.9 Diesel 90PS ST3 H: 1.9 Diesel 115PS ST3 J: VW 1.9L TC DSL/130PS K: 2.8 SOHC V6 ST4 L: 2.0 DOHC EFI 8V M: 2.8 SOHC V6 ST2 V: 2.0 DOHC FORD ST3 5: 2.3 SOHC ST4 6: 2.3 SOHC ST4 7: 1.8 DOHC ST2 8: 1.8 DOHC Mexico 9: 2.8 SOHC VW Mexico (PD = Pumpe Deuse [VW diesel], ST2, ST3, ST4 = Stage II, III or IV emissions)
