I used cyano (superglue) to bond mine. It's an "air exclusion adhesive" (thats why they never fill a bottle or tube . .to leave an air pocket) When the coupler is pushed into the tube, the "knuckle" will exclude sufficient air for it to commence it's hardening process, which also produces heat - to partially weld the plastic. I also wrapped wire around the joint in a figure of eight configuration, and then wrapped the finished repair in vinyl tape to prevent metal noise interference to fm radio if it touches other metal.(learned from R/C helicopter avionics)

Timing Belt - Every 40k Or 60k?
Dave-G replied to Jim's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Jim,The very first facelift galaxies were sold with only 1 year's warranty/60,000 mile cambelt change interval.....such was the case with my last 115 tdi! It's build date was april 2000. you will also probably find that if you try to replace the front brake pads with "aftermarket" pads you will be supplied with ones to fit 16" wheels? they wont fit..even though the zetec DOES HAVE 16" WHEELS!..get the ones for the earlier model std size :o call ford customer care on 0845 8411111 and ask for the build date of your vehicle chassis no. or VIN for those of you whose cambelt intervals are 40,000 miles [built after may 2000"I think"] you will be pleased to know that your 3 years warranty is paid for with many more visits to ford main dealers while the car is still "in warranty period" :o :o er :o Thanks jim  ...corrected :o -

Welcome warner. Dont do it! Do you think the police will beleive its for the front passengers benefit alone?...I dont think so...and you're bound to absorb some of what is on? :o I know you don't want a lecture, but if i saw a "tv" on somebody's dash, the word prat would be in mind  -
Where Is Parking Sensor
Dave-G replied to Dave-G's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
SSSOOO :o WHERE ARE ALL THE ANTICIPATED REPLIES FROM MEMBERS THAT SUGGEST THE BOX UNDER THE SEAT IS CENTRAL LOCKING?? :o I mean...I HAVE invited some form of correction :o The only reply I got is from Fredt(thanks Fredt) perhaps some of you could take a pic of YOUR central locking box.. and wiring ...under the passenger seat? -
 So THERE

 Ask the wife to act just as dumb, and smile sweetly at the guy she bought it from as she hands it back and they will probably swap it for something compatible with the existing ford radio connections. And if they dont, remember nobody can put a guy down as much as a pissed off woman

Where Is Parking Sensor
Dave-G replied to Dave-G's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
 Fredt..."again all these positions are dependant of the year and spec of the vehicle " Now that COULD BE PERTINENT....The car was april 2k build date, had a 1 year wty, 60000 cambelt interval, and it's brake pads should have been ones to fit 16"wheels...they dint(it was a zetec with 16"alloys) :P I guess mine was an inbetweeny  photo shows the box I refer to -
:( Can somebody confirm where the control box is for the parking distance sensors? :D I replaced the black box under the passenger seat because it had become corroded following footwell flooding. I was led to examine that area by my local ford dealer after i took the car there 'cos the parking sensors dint work after i bought a galaxy[not my current one] from an independant dealer. I ask this because the carpet had been disturbed and the control box THEY SUGGESTED WAS CORRODED AND FAULTY actually was corroded and faulty . . . .with me so far? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .AND IT WAS UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT At this time the central locking was working correctly, including the remote central locking. After I replaced the black box,the central locking continued to work normally. :D BUT THE PARKING DISTANCE SENSORS ALSO STARTED WORKING :D still with me?... It has been suggested on this forum that the box under the seat is for central locking  so was it just luck that I had disturbed an earth wire or something? and if so where is the ACTUAL PARKING DISTANCE THINGY? this is for educational purposes only ,I dont have a fault with my car,but it seems I gave incorrect advice to another member for which I apolagise. could the black box be a "multi-function control box"?
-
 Well I'm speechless :( and willing to admit a mistake if i made one.... photo[taken about 18 mths ago] shows the component my car supplier sent to me to replace the one under the seat. When fitted; the parking sensors worked?!@~# and the central locking continued to work . . .is this a multi-function box? time for a new thread to find out where the parking sensor box ACTUALLY is  ! there are also some yellow coloured "plugs" under the seat
-
 Andy, Iv'e seen replies in this forum that state the black box under the front passenger seat is for the central locking  WELL;when i bought my X-reg galaxy zetec, the floor in that area had been flooded, there was corrosion around the mounting plate posts of that device, and the PARKING SENSORS dint work. When the black box(approximate size of 20 pack fags) was replaced the parking sensors DID work  to my way of thinking , this suggests that the box under the front passenger seat is NOT CENTRAL LOCKING on an x-reg galaxy zetec. ......of course other peoples shalaxies may differ?,and you may have a pre-facelift vehicle? of which i dont know what lies beneath the seats cos i never had any probs in that area. you might consider adding you car details to the left of your post :( (my controls>edit profile>vehicle type)

"Well there's a lump that looks like some sort of pump/heater in that position" :P I'm still iffy on this petrol aux heater of your's BUT; the terminals of the pump on my old allhambra corroded and fell off when touched for examination 1 day  (it's positioned in a place that can catch salt etc) " it also chucks off some serious heat" :P It could be that this motor has siezed  When my home central heating recirc pump siezed due to sediment - it still drew current and became EXTREMELY hot : IT BURNT MY HAND :P i got it running again by rapping the adjuster plug with a hammer (it loosened the sediment) IF your pump IS pumping petrol - and has siezed it MAY draw current during temperatures low enough to activate the heater :P AN EXTREMELY HOT PUMP WITH PETROL IN IS SCARY :P Cup your hands around it next time it's cold enough to activate - if it burns.....be afraid - be very afraid  bear in mind that the temperature has been fluctuating recently

" both developed rear end groan/squeak " My old seat also made "flexing noises" when rising over kerb ramps/speed ramps etc. I got the feeling that the tailgate was moving in the rubber door seals. my later facelift galaxy felt more rigid,as does my current one. I was told that the post2k models were re-engineered with a stiffer build, which seems to be true

 Why a glove? I had it in the car at the time I became aware of the rattle. the left hinge was a lil loose and the glove was suitably sized to brace it
-
 SORREEE  Yup:-a bit amiss on the spacing there guys  He called it the tick-over valve, and yes it's probably the ICV. 1.8 petrol mondeo,zetec,l-reg. :P :P
