Thanks Derek,There is something in this in this SOMEWHERE, what about maximum height of glass? Mine is 530mm,near the rear, just in front of the curve, and 190mm at front just behind the curve.there IS a missmatch somewhere 'cos my sis got the wrong ones and had to change them[t'other way round from Oscar] This is'nt my car, just a pic I found while car hunting

Well now, this looks interesting! In the interests of finding out for sure,I'll be taking a tape measure to my mates pre facelift sharan to measure along the lowest part of the drivers door window & compare it to mine. I suspect we MAY find more than we are looking for........like less room for seats to fold down due to a shortened shalaxy...........Note the "may" B) I wont be able to report back on this till tomorrow at the earliest. could somebody measure their prefacelift front door window? I have measured mine at 845mm,I refer to the lowest area of glass, and only the amount of glass visible from the outside of the car, this is easier than trying to measure around the mirror.

I think the absence of any meaningfull advice in the handbook speaks volumes: If it was useable, even as an optional extra(in the uk),it would be detailled in the uk manual. B) It's a secret that they cant tell you about - 'cos if they do they'd af to killya. B) I'm picking up my 02 gal ghia next week @
-
I COULD be wrong.... but i think it does naff all unless you buy the other bits to make it work. It seems to be one of those value for money NOT things! But if I'm increkt I polergize in advanse. B)

I too beleive the mirrors are linked to the REAR screen.....the operative word and need "to view rearwards"

Tighten them up with a T40 torx tool. they're available in "allen key shapes", so you'll get deep into the socket. just pull the cap off.
-
They ARE aware of them mate! Strewth...they gotta make a livin somehow y-know! B) I've never had the rattle mate, and dont use the rear wash/wipe unless you KNOW water reaches it, cos it's pipe probably burst off the joint behind the passenger kick panel/sill cover

I,m considering a galaxy ghia 02/02. Advertiser says it has cruise control, but[thinking back] i dint see anything to do with that on the left side stalk......but it has a M/F steering wheel. Could they be mistaken about the steering wheel functions, and what are those "multi-functions" They aint ford dealers, the sales girl is smashin, and i dont want to embarrass her if SHE's wrong - or meeself if she aint! my 2000x zetec book dont show the M/F wheel B)

sorry d-cool, i meant a mk 2 ghia, but Im buying a 2002 ghia instead now anyway

Brake Warning Sounds/lights
Dave-G replied to Caff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've had/done same as ridway. Most likely low brake fluid level(it gets even lower as brakes are applied),suggest maybe all 4 pad sets are low,but if there is plenty of meat on them top up the level...............with a very long pippette or pipe 'cos its difficult to access! -
have any of you customisers got an unwanted set of ghia rims for sale? I think they look much nicer than zetec ones
-
you need to acquire an underguard - or tray. I know that the old model's tray will fit the new[tdi],so look for a gal in a breakers yard. I DONT know if they're engine specific. make sure you get the fixing bolts, and prepare yourself with 6 hands, 'cos they're *+

Is there any diffrence in the badges to show if a gal is a 130?

The internal heater of these cars draw their "hot" water from the cold side of the thermostat, so you gorra wait for the engine to acheive operating temperature[ish] before the stat lets any hot water flow to radiator for cooling. In an ideal world the thermostat seat or flange would have a bleed hole to allow a small amount of heated water to pass through, but i understand that in some extreme climates that would never happen, perhaps somebody in alaska could comment?

I think that models SPECIFICALY built for the british market were made to wipe to OUR benefit,at a premium price,to ford uk,not least 'cos the british market was very expensive and exploitable. Then came the "rip-off uk" bandwagon, where we discoverred we could save money on other soil which many of us did. So too did our suppliers (equally fed up at prices demanded for lhd uk orders) The distinction I am trying to make is that there are other lhd countries that have a lower cost of living, and car prices,a "general lhd market" That even ford uk occasionally bought from, where "economies"are made. How many of us expect our car prices to compare favourably with EC, even in the knowledge that rhd builds outstrip lhd by maybe x20? HMM, I'VE STILL MADE A PIGS EAR OF THIS,CANT EXPLAIN IT ADEQUATELY ENOUGH..GIVIN UP!!! SUFFICE TO SAY,IF WE WERNT SO TIGHT WE'D GET ONES PURPOSEFULLY MADE FOR LHD.

Red Dust Around Cam Pully

UPDATE: I have now "slipped in the back" of local ford/vw/seat dealerships for a word direct with their mechanics, rather than service reception pen-pushers. The general opinion is they've all seen it,manufacturers seen it,nobody knows for sure, dont worry 'bout it, never caused a prob[yet] -
I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IF YOU TRY SWAPPIN, BUT YOU COULD DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. THE UPPER WIPER WILL HAVE IT'S LINKAGE ARRANGED SO THAT IT IS CLEAR OF THE LOWER BLADES ARC BEFORE IT SWEEPS. I THINK YOU WILL DISCOVER THAT THE UPPER IS ARRANGED SO THAT IT RISES FASTER-LOWERS SLOWER.IT'S A BUMMMER WHEN SOMEBODY SQUIRTS ON YOUR BONFIRE...AND I COULD BE WRONG..JUST BE AFRAID,VERY AFRAID THAT DAMAGE MAY OCCUR IF THE LINKAGES COLLIDE. AND PULEASE DONT DO IT IF YOU NEED TO USE THE CAR IN THE RAIN BEFORE YOU CAN FIX IT :)

I agree with Ian, though he aint mentioned that the "paint" falls or chips off the doorpulls, maybe his is low miles? I think you'll find its about 2" or so shorter than your old one,but i wont swear to that...yet
