As this is a post that could apply to a galaxy I'll add my twopence worth I have had several aftermarket warranties over the past years and never drawn on any of them. However I seem to have a friday night or monday morning car this time round and in the past month they coughed up for two new drive shaft assy's and an automatic gearbox! :P The warranty was supplied "in with the cost of the car". ;) I doubt the car would have cost less without the warranty, so I figure the

 unless you are very adept with tools such as a stanley knife / hacksaw / jigsaw etc you dont ^_^ This is something to be considered when buying the car, IE if a large part of its use is intended to be as a large estate car / load lugger.....or large family / passenger vehicle - which is why they are sometimes called people carriers. B) Although they are officially described as estate cars (and most estates have covers) I think that if you did a survey, most would be sold as people carriers, with only a small minority wanting to remove the rear seats for load space. It does however seem a shame that the manufacturers did'nt put the holders in place to fit optional extra covers though  This is best done as a factory fit option when ordering a new car

Ivor's got it spot on

Well this wont be much help to you, but yes they are fly by wire. I'm also inclined to think you wont get much response on this thread, due to the rarity of your auto deisel,as is mine, and i had no response when i asked for ideas, about "clutch-slip" in 4th and 5th. The car is currently in my local ford dealers being dissmantled. I have no experience of your symptoms

 where HAVE you been S A ?

(e.g. "I don't like being stalled you idiot don't do it again" yep you've got the idea... it's a tdi, the glow plug symbol was probably also flashing on your instrument panel....welcome

Central Locking And Alarm
Dave-G replied to Eddy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As far as I know, the car will only lock itself if you unlocked it and then failed to open a door....within a few seconds - so it effectivly RELOCKS itself. This could be a default setting that assumes an unlock command that didn't get followed up was a radio spike or somat :P none of my 3 shalaxies has ever locked itself, as I've discoverred some mornings when I find I hadn't locked it the previous night :P In addition, If you leave a window open, a passing vechicle can cause a rush of wind to "alter the volume of air in your car"....which is what happens if a brick or hand enters your car....in short it does what it say's on the box! :P -
"Yet another reason to stick with my Mk I" :huh:The mk2 lights are definitley much more fiddley than yours SEATKID, but they also provide a much better path of light. whereas the mk1 had to get both the dipped and main beam to operate reasonably well from a single bulb, and direct the light path through glass deflector "lenses" - dont know the tek name),The mk2 lights are each optimised to their specific application, without compromise to suit the other, thanks to their individual reflectors. :P of couse if you rarely travel at night you wont benefit much from the difference :P

"the rear washer pipe runs through the roof lining" eh?

Huh, hi guys, there was a topic on here a lil while ago that referred to an auto-specialist in enderby [leic's] but i cant find it in search. anyway,me old gal has "clutch slip"....well thats the best way to describe it's symptoms 'cos thats exactly how it feels, the rev's just run-away....but it's ok at low /medium tork demand/speed Also, a couple of times preceeding this a minor kick-down would be more like slapdown!....it went with a thunk rather than changedown. In hindsisght, downshifts seem to have been a bit sluggish, almost reluctant, and more like turbo-lag delay........................any ideers? EDIT: 04 march....... Well that seems a very loud "we aint had or heard of any problems Dave" So I can take it there are no real issues with the galaxy auto -box then? Why was your's changed NIKPV ? <_<

What Oil For A 115bhp Diesel?
Dave-G replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Er; so what happens to the other items normally examined in the next annual service? -
the access point for this is in front of your wheel.Turn your wheel fully to the left, and find the hatch, which is like a sliding door - slides upwards. but dont even think about trying it yourself if you aint got girlie size hands! assuming you have small hands, open the hatch and locate the sidelight "base",twist it to the left while pulling on it.when you have it out pull the bulb from its base and fit a new one in reverse order.......I suggest you view a picture of it in your manual first to correctly identify it

Ivor: at this moment I'd like to retain them as a set, albeit using one as a working spare. I will of course post a notice on this forum if I ellect to dispose of any at a later date.
-
Is that the worst scrape on any wheel?..if so consider them sold, will travel from leicester when you have your new ones fitted...personally I think the stock ghia wheels look better than most exotic aftermarket ones, and these are one of the main reasons i wanted a ghia this time
-
 If the tyres aint done many miles I'll meeet your asking price and collect :P cash
-
Hmm,and what would you then mount the rear seats on....in a safe/secure tested and approved as safe for passenger use? the spare wheel lid? :( I wonder how much money the manufacturers would have paid out in claims by now if the seats wern't fixed to the floor? :( why not ditch the rear seats, cut a hole in the floor and plonk some plywood over the hole, and weld some angle iron behind the second row to brace it? :o

Glad you're ok NIK....I see some people will do ANYTHING to get into the papers  At first glance i thought you might have splashed out on a digital camera.....I keep mine in the car, under the drivers seat to use in case of a motoring incident <_<
