  1. SK - 05 year - 05 plate Ld - There didnt seem to be anything else available. Interestingly... the problem only occurs at idle and very light throttle/constant speed, but at all speed ranges.
  2. My TDI 'feels' like it has a misfire like you get on a petrol. I took it down to a local guy with vag-com for a quicky. Brake swith has had implausible signal at some time - but all the brake lights work ok. The guy took it for a spin with vag-com still connected... the 'chugging' occured but nothing shows on the vag-com. He suspects early indicaction of injector problem - but suggested I took it to the main dealer for more in depth checkover. Well sods law it dint occur on a test drive with them and anyway - "their diagnostic equipment is not to good with the VW engine issues" - try VW dealer. A quick chat with said VW indicates they know of an electrical issue with the injectors - bring it in on tuesday for a test drive. So - Forewarned is forearmed - any ideas?
  3. Sorry BD, no slight intended, I just wanted more feedback at the time. It helps to get more than one persons opinion sometimes? ATB, Dave
  4. Watch out for the speed bumps
  5. Ah - another catisfied sustomer - welcome to the borum fud
  6. I'm waiting for the supplier to call me back. I'd listed it as something that needs to be remedied before delivery - but it looks like they were carefull to park it in such a place that I would not be using the distance sensors on collection - and I am so naive! Also noticed the front 'chrome fog lamp surrounds hanging off - Now that they've been out in the cold - as opposed to a nice warm showroom - the frikking hot melt glue they stuck them on with has separated - the retaining clips are broken! Cant see any sign of water damage. I might be spoilt for choice on warranty companies - The previous owner had not stamped the book at all - so it seemed unlikely that ford would continue with the 3 year warranty. So they gave me 1 year car care plan warranty provided I buy a second year which I did. I have now contacted the previous owners who do their own servicing (a nationwide leasing company) which ford approve of - and I'm told they'll stamp my book... which is winging towards them by recorded delivery.
  7. Any update on this please? Are they working yet? I had a multi function steering wheel on my last Gal, was told It's very complicated and expensive to transfer it due to differing air bag, ignition switch electrics and other wiring looms Apparantly thats why it was a factory fit option at time of order rather than dealer fit.
  8. I've checked FAQ's and search for parking distance control unit dont bring any help forwards, and felt for the sensors for clicks The switch flashes and the alarm horn beeps for a few seconds - then silence. This is when I activate it either manually or by selecting reverse. I know we've covered this on previous occasions but darnned if I can find it. Be advised please... If anyone starts telling me to listen or feel for clicks from the sensors - my wrath will descend apon you as I have already been there - and said so
  9. It's got 2 issues allready  Parking distance sensors dont work - just a warning beep when activated! and it feels like it about to run out of fuel sometimes - even with a (now) full tank of diesel Dealer is 40 miles away and I'm sure it would be easier to go with them on a warranty basis. aint had time to read up on FAQ's yet - will do later when the rain and wind comes.
  10. Thanks for seeing the question through on a curiosity/learning curve basis LD. I've changed my Galaxy today - to an 05 Zetec tdi auto. Would this still occur if the battery was disconnected and re connected later as an ecu reset - or work on engine etc do you think? Oops - must remember to update my sig before I get a gentle reminder from he who reminds us lot as a pastime
  11. I'ts supposed to sound like that but the smoke should clear up after a minute or so if it's not been operated for a while. If it dont clear then look in the FAQ's for Auxilliary heater topics mate. ATB, Dave
  12. I've tried a search for the belt route on a vr6 - without success. Just check EVERY pully down there very thoroughly - I'm sure someone will be along soon with a tis sketch for you - I have a horspital appointment to get to ATB, Dave
  13. I've seen a recent thread with a sketch of the belt "snake" - A search of that word may well produce results
  14. VERY interesting DR Watson - thank you
  15. Like I indicated above - try to move the wheel... through its steering cycle. In plainer english maybe - try to steer the wheel while gripping the tyres at the front and rear edges while there is no weight on the wheel in question. If you can feel free play - consider how much the weight of the car can move it when cornering. There's some places a woman should'nt go - protective head gear wanted
  16. This is not neccessarily the tensioner. I'd firstly suggest (wear old clothes) feeling if every pully that the accessory belt "snakes" against or around feels gritty or tight - the water pump being the most relevant. Try to see if that is where the water is leaking from. If it seized that would account for belt friction on the pully and the smoke as it burnt. It could also be one of the other pulleys, or the belt just packing up - hoewver it's likely you would have seen at least some indication of fraying while playing squirty poo's with the WD40.
  17. Galaxy goes through track rod ends in less than 20k if yer town driving. If the car was jacked up and you tried to move the wheel side to side through its steering cycle you would notice free-play. Dead simple to replace, and IIRC - about 20 squiders each.
  18. Aw - eck, ner mind
  19. Daz, With the amount of help youv'e given the membership over your brief period here - it would be very nice for me if the midlands referred to in your location is actually East Midlands.
  20. Well all I can say is... I'll use this shameless excuse to show off my new avatar rather than start a whole thread about it - being as it's my thread I'm totally off topic on
  21. I just ordered my 4th used shalaxy, an 05/05 Zetec Auto in ink - and never buy new. I buy about 12/18 months old and get a warranty. For some reason the service book has never been stamped, but the dealer is giving me one year warranty if I pay for a second year (
  22. Point taken - thanks all. I know some forums have a "handwritten" code for a human to reckognize and type into a box for validation which stops the bots. I see the "ask a question that has been answered numerous times" as a way of introduction and requst for advice in one post. Lets face it - most people these days Google a problem they have - and hey presto - wow betcha by god there's an answer.... It how - and why I found it. I guess we now spend time explaining how a trainee works instead of answering the question or posting a link to the FAQ's - except now a mod also has to go and upgrade them if they seem ok.
  23. Hi LD, (yea i noted the nickname you were given too) and thanks for the help. Thanks for being persistent enough to jump through the hurdles placed in the path of iffy new members. I see your posting page says you have made 42 posts... but I dont see that many in your profile>search members posts. Me thinks this shows that mods can use their judgement to accelerate a newbie, BUT... What if you had'nt been so persistent and felt this was too much of a closed shop? I'm not convinced this "newbie" filter should be so fine
