Does the clutch within the A/C pulley move if you try to rotate it when the engine is off? IF yes: Does it rotate when the AC is turned on - and does it stop rotating when the AC is turned off? I'm thinking this sounds familiar - several of us tried several things before Littledaz put us right. Also when the clutch failed on my comp there was no noise... just smoke. -
Be sure to use the gloves... oil from a diesel engine has a load of soot floating in it. ANY anywhere near your fingernails will have you looking like a lorry mechanic for a few days - I kid you not Maz. Now i'm off for a bit. ATB with that.

Axle stands would indeed be ideal - but money is tight. I have done this for some 35 years without any problem. It dont look good I know - but it works for very rare jobs under the car. I give the car a good old wobble around before getting underneath to be sure its stable. Get your oil too before you start Maz.
-
As above - frequently occurs when someone starts a car with frozen coolant - and it was freezing "the other day" Moral of the story - don't skimp on antifreeze just because we've had it too mild for so long

Well yes you could use a scaffold plank maybe as a ramp to a concrete block, with the plank resting on a brick to make the end of the plank about the same height as the block. However as you approach the block it could then lift the other end of the plank. Much better to place it or a paving slab in front of a block - drive onto the slab/plank then drive onto the block. I dont beleive I'm actually advocating this, but you do like to be treated as one of the lads?
-
Good - concrete blocks or slabs on each other, bricks etc have all been part of some diy' guy's kit at some time in their lives. Make "step ups" too if you can girl. If the kerb is one side it at least has a rigid base on one side that wont topple over.

Check from post 51 here mate - one shows a photo of my glowplugs in a MK2 glowplug bit of the thread Looking at the front of your engine after you remove your top cover... you will see a black plastic tube running horizontaly along the upper front of the engine. That tube has four "legs" that seem to go down to the front of the engine block. Pull it firmly with both hands either side of each 'leg and it will come off to expose the glowplug connectors. Alternatively you could see if the hot end of one looks different to the others or use a light bulb to check for a circuit through them. (!2 volt just to be sure you dont run an extension lead from the house) To remove them you will need a 10mm tube spanner or ultra deep 10mm socket.

Put the kettle on and get comfy - a lengthy but revealing thread is below. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...ost&p=95499 -
Ray - In a different way perhaps - does this occur only when cold, or regardless of warm or cold engine temperature?
-
Almost a shame you cant get pink undertrays really :16:
-
Notice in the questions bit some one called him "hun"...? Someone who wants a pink coloured forum???
-
Possibly a glow plug fault if its only when cold. Does it start then run ok when the car is warm?

Anyone Know Of "electrical Issue's"
Dave-G replied to Dave-G's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
All tested the same - and looked the same too. I'm surprised About their tiny diameter - and mere 10mm socket size! -

I'm noticing more smoke now - especially a rich puff that follows a missfire - and it stinks worse than properly burnt diesel. I'm planning to test the glow plugs today if the rain holds off. Now you know how things go when you cant sleep... especially when you have a sleep disorder and kick things over in your mind as you desperately try to drop off? Well you can usually tell the approximate mixture ratio or burn efficiency in a petrol combustion chamber by removing and examining a spark plug, ideally looking for a speckled biscuit colour - does anyone know if the working end of a glow plug would reveal anything? -
Forget metal ramps Matt - the reason I made my woody ones is that you would need an extra-extra long set to lift the front skirt over the highest part of the ramp before it gets ripped off.

Ah Glen - I see your "toggle" brings that window alongside your message box. On mine the 'boxes are too wide to allow them to fit alongside - there would be an approximate 1/2" overlap "I supose I could do that and hope that hackers do not happen upon the site  ," Sorry Glen - I meant the layout and look of the site Um the Renault forum... I posted in the Scenic forum Yesterday... Surprisingly it accepted the log in name and password I use here - and i hadn.t joined it
-
Thats why your taking the bottom cover off Maz - to find out -)
-
Bless - now bear in mind - when you have obtained a socket extension bar (every toolbox should have one or two different lengths) and removed the undercover you will need a bowl to drain the oil into before attempting to change the level sensor. But since your doing a service anyway you need to change the oil anyway you wont need to look for one of those devices to suck oil out of the dipstick tube. I dont know if the oil level sensor has a gasket supplied with it - enquire when you buy it.
-
Maz dear - Do Not get under the car when its jacked up by something as rickety and fold-up-able as the standard jack. If you must be a bit of a lad - park one side on the kerb and drive onto a brick or concrete block placed in front of the other wheel.
-
Out of curiosity Maz - how did you raise the car?
-
Um - Thanks Glen - I toggled side panel and then the reply panel drops below it so thats not what I meant. It used to be directly alongside the reply page... aesily accesible as you type. I'm not quite sure how much has changed over the last few months because you keep ferreting about with it (meant in a nice way) It USED to be brilliant and very user friendly to technophobes - it now seems more complicated and 'bitty... How about erm... trying it the way it was about a year ago  Then find something else to do when you feel the need to relieve boredom?
-
Tht'll probably be the front two - long socket extensions needed there Maz - and you'll find it easier to put back on if you grow two more hands and an extra leg to prop it up with.

Ya daughter with her tongue out... is her name "trouble" :10:
