  1. nothing wrong with that ...... more relaxing than a package holiday or worrying about how you're going to pay the credit card off when you get back ... ooh and there's the bed you're sleeping on .. mmmm ..... I wonder what skin diseases the person who slept in it before you had and how long has the mattress been there ... nice!
  2. http://www.whattowcar.com/ Try the above link and see what a Mk 2 Galaxy 1.9Tdi 115PS comes up with against your van ... I think you'll be surprised.
  3. Well the nose weight limit on mine was 75Kg but checking everytime I hitched up it was always around 50Kg. Must admit though I had to take the spare wheel out of the gas box when towing to give me less hitch weight. Sounds to me as though you had too much weight to the rear of the van axle.
  4. I haven't heard of any John but I jnow you can get a "blank" to fill in the hole if you go for a Single DIN unit. I've seen one on a Sharan that looks similar to a CD holder. I know you also have to change the facia to fit a Double DIN MFD due to the original facia's slight curvature.
  5. You old git Nik ....... Happy Birthday mate and another year nearer to your Teachers pension.
  6. Hi Jimmyg ..... welcome from me to! There are some talented chapesses on here as Mum mentioned ..... but ...... that's all I'm saying! :22:
  7. And a hearty welcome from me to! ...... Hope you enjoy the forum and hopefully we'll be able to save you hundreds of pooooonds! I did ..... I got rid of mine although there wasn't much wrong with it apart from the fact it was sooo boring to drive. Doh!
  8. Squinty ..... when the starter just "clicks" this sounds like the starter solenoid is operating but there isn't enough current from the battery to turn the motor. This could either be a flattened or duff battery or, by the sound of your problem, wiring to / from the battery / starter motor via the main engine compartment fuse box. I would start by looking at all the cable connections and giving them a good clean or if you can, replace the main cables as it sounds like the earth has high resistance as the insulation has started to melt.
  9. Aviation diesel engines? ....... I assume you mean jet turbine engines. I have seen some old diesel Landrovers run on the military equivalent F34 (AVTUR) but I certailnly wouldn't attempt to run a modern diesel car engine on it judging by the amount of exhaust smoke...... lol!
  10. Glad you got a Galaxy mum ....... with these dinks and scratches ...... Is it worth getting it resprayed pink? :(
  11. Not wishing to alarm you but this sounds a bit ominous ....... How much and how often are you having to top up the oil? With it "knocking" and not "rattling" this sounds like big end bearings or piston bore wear. Get someone to follow you and watch the exhaust to see if it is burning engine oil which is usually a blue colour and smells awful ..... a bit difficult bearing in mind the diesel engine smokes a bit anyway.
  12. No I haven't checked the site out yet ....... I would have loved the 220 but wouldn't have been able to tow the van with it, not that I have with mine yet as I still have a tow bar to fit. I was really surprised at how well they corner having had an older 2 litre before the Galaxy. So what do you tow your van with now ...... has the estate still got the twin exhausts?
  13. No ...I would expect at least a 13.8v reading.
  14. Welcome back Jk ...... 300 miles!!!!????? Should have had the diesel matey .... I get nearly twice that and with 0 - 60 in just under 8 seconds so not much difference there. I'm waiting and saving for the Dreamscience diesel Euro 4 remap for mine so saving at the moment and then they'll be an even bigger grin on my face when I drive it.
  15. John see my modified post
  16. John it could be a number of things but we really need to know your car details to give any you good info to go armed with. They should stick it onto their diagnosis kit and download any fault codes once you've suggested to them what the problem could be. Sorry ...just noticed your sig Is it going into limp mode? Could be the turbo positive deviation problem where the boost pressure goes beyond its limits due to either a sticky VNT actuator or the turbo vanes need a good clean. There are other reasons that will cause the car to go into limp mode and no doubt others will point you in the right direction.
  17. Andrew ....open the door then have a look for a single screw roughly inline with the handle near to the locking mechanism. Undo the screw and then pull the handle towards the back of the door. You should then be able to manipulate the handle out by extracting the rear of the handle first.
  18. HI Bleeno I just knew someone would start the degeneration however not knowing the answer and never tried that sort of thing we will make arrangements to come and watch you try it out ?is of course does the ass in the infinitesimal time after a fart take a swift air intake you know the ying yang effect now if that happens I see that you could be in for the greatest enema of all time and it might be a day when overalls are waranted by the spectators i'll try to get the tickets made up later today could you give me details of when and where you'd to do this we'll need at least till next sat you never know bud you could be on tv with this one Sorry about the degeneration of your welcome thread ....... I would willingly carry out said event but my worries are: 1. Would Swarfega continue be used as a handwash post event? 2. Who would sponsor such event? ...... who will pay for the overalls? 3. What is this Ying Yang effect? ....... this sounds extremely violent and will the haem ...... piles stand up to it? 4. Which TV channel would broadcast it? ....... Although a Civil servant and keen for the public to see what goes on in my bathroom, I would not wish for MTV to produce a series on what could be done with a bath of swarfega. 5. Glad you fixed the bootlock.
  19. :angry2: :16: :16:
  20. Nice pictures Matt and welcome back. I do love the colour but to be honest I still prefer the Mk2 shape. The 2.0L TDCi is a lovely engine and it will be interesting to hear how she gets on with towing the van at the weekend.
  21. Welcome from me Ginettamad and good luck with your new towcar ....... I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Galaxy towing performance. By the way, any chance of posting a picture of your Ginetta?
  22. Has anyone tried bathing in Swarfega? ......... and I wonder if it's possible to fart and count the bubbles?
  23. Check the drive shafts in particular the inner offside CV joint as they have a tendancy to fail.
  24. New alternator? ............. glad you got it sorted.
  25. Hi matey and welcome from me. I've answered your post on the problem with the tailgate not locking so hopefully someone who have had a similar problem will give you some pointers. Look forward to more of your posts.
