  1. Enjoy the new car Phil ......... and yes the grass is greener on the other side and I went away from the Galaxy to a sporty hatch and didn't miss it .... mind you mine does a few more miles to the gallon than JK's and just last week I averaged 47.8 mpg ....... short journeys to and leaving 320D's in my dust! :D
  2. Whoops .... as long as you're all right Maz. No, ring them as they'll have a local authorised repair shop and not a back street cowboy, then you don't have to accept the work if its shoddy. Keep a record of all conversations and demand a hire car.
  3. It's all general discussion and NONSENSE .......... :D :) :D
  4. Sorry Tram ... it's not just a matter of "adding" up the Binary code but the looking at the overall spectrum generated by using an SSB waveform. When you modulate the carrier using a pseudo random bit sequence the pulse width and therefore the PRF will constantly change. This has the effect of shifting the frequency of the lines in the power spectrum and also the rate of amplitude variation.
  5. Ian ..... no just the four outputs so you'll need to think about impedance matching. If you keep to the same speaker impedance then you can't go wrong. 17cm co-axials fit the doors lovely but watch the speaker depth. I didn't change the dash speakers as they're just tweeters anyway and the rears weren't worth bothering with once I'd changed all the door speakers.
  6. I got stopped for speeding the other and stupidlytried to talk my way out of it ........ That was until the Officer noticed the dog on the back seat! speeding.bmp
  7. Witty ....... tried all that and you won't get it it to work unless someone has come up with a way of doing it.
  8. Glad to hear they're sorting it .......... and I hope to God you beat the French!! ......... just the 4 kids Nikki? Got a couple to go to beat me ... ;) :D
  9. Nikki ...... thanks for the wonderful read! Another star to join the forum! Right, firstly the TDCi engine is renowned for dodgy EGR valves (Exhaust Gas Recirculation.... not ECR) and basically is the valve that feeds some of the exhaust gases back into the engine to improve the emissions. They were made by a spanish company .... nuff said ..... and if you have a look at the Mondeo enthusiasts group (MEG) website you'll find that the TDCi owners have the same problems. Some clean the valves using carb cleaner or more often than not replace them if they can wait weeks for one to turn up at a dealer. Secondly, depending on the age and mileage of the car when you bought it, and whether or not the car has had these problems before, will obviously determine the state of the CAT. If the car has been serviced regularly then there should be no reason for this to be changed. Lastly the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter - used to improve the emissions and reduce smoke) is cleaned by driving the car on a motorway for a number of miles stated in the manual. I would be very wary of someone trying to manually clean them or more importantly replace it as it will be incredibly expensive. Hope this helps Nikki
  10. Yes I have seen that mentioned before Twilight .... good point.
  11. Welcome Geoff ... I don't think you'll be disappointed and the best thing about the Galaxy is its versatility and although the seats don't fold into the floor like the new Mk 3, you can remove them as veedyf mentions. Mind you, it takes a bit of effort with each wieghing in around 17Kg so once you've done it a few times you'll have biceps to be proud of! Good luck with the new car. :)
  12. Paul did they try and do an "on the road" diagnostic where they can use VAG-COM via a laptop to monitor various sensor outputs. This sounds typically like a turbo overboost problem caused usually by "sticking" vanes produced by a build up of carbon. Do a search on the VNT mechanism which will explain how it works and you may also like to suggest the Boost Pressure Solenoid (more commonly known as the N75 valve). Even so, they should still have shown up on a diagnostic.
  13. Have they done a proper diagnostic? What's the performance like in 1st and 2nd and at what revs does the "stutter occur? Could be a number of things that are causing it and it's possibly going into "limp" mode. Need more info I'm afraid.
  14. Hiya Bogie and welcome to the site ....... Interesting to see you restore old seventies bikes .... I had a C3 650 Kawasaki and want to see the piccies of the Z1B please mate!!! I've always wanted one of them! Have a look at this site! http://www.classicbikes.co.uk/
  15. Men all over the country are urging their wives and sweethearts to get this 'chic' procedure even at a cost of thousands it's well worth it
  16. Welcome from me to Jordie and look forward to reading your posts.
  17. Welcome Nimplay and I don't think it'll be your best car ever when the VED starts to go up!
  18. Welcome Simon ....look forward to your posts.
  19. Hiya Nikki and welcome to the forum from a member of the so called man species ........ Good win for Nederland last night .. they looked good and could go on to win it! Are you anywhere near Roermond?
  20. "Pinking" is usually caused by ignition timing and in this case is controlled by various sensor inputs into the PCM (ECU). As there are no fault codes present then I would expect the dealer to see if thee are any PCM software upgrades, or, at least re-program the ECU.
  21. You need to clear the previous stored readings by pressing and holding the trip meter reset button for a few seconds ..... it's the same on my Mondeo.
  22. What an absolute star you are traveller! ......... loved the posts but unfortunately can't help you either. Mk 3's are in their infancy on here. :)
  23. Chris, try that link I left earlier on.
  24. If it has a 3.5mm audio jack output to the headphone transmitter you could use one of these: http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h1138.htm The sounds not brilliant but does the job.
  25. Hi Aqi and welcome to the site from me. I don't know whether or not someone with a Mk 1 will be able to help you with an owners manual but you might find the Ford TIS disc useful if you want to carry out your own repairs. I'm sure someone on here will be able to PM you a link for the disc. Good luck with the car!
