  1. You're right Farr ..... I have the 2.2 engine in mine and like you say the glow plug light goes out along with the rest of the test indications shortly after you go to position 2 on the ignition switch. I think if it was cold enough you would see an extended "light on" period.
  2. Scrote I wouldn't bother as a dealer will only look at the general condition inside and out if you are part x'ing it. Any problems with it will be sorted out when they come to service it for the new owner. ....... not your problem then. Even at that age it will probably end up down an auction if it's a main dealer.
  3. Seemingly? ...... there was a post on a problem with the wiring to the glow plugs IIRC ...something to do with the loom as it passed over the rocker box. That might be worth checking
  4. I would tend to agree with Insider although I wouldn't be too worried about it. The auxiliary drive belt tensioner wants looking at I reckon and with an engine that's done a fair few miles, it's important to do an oil and filter change more often ....... every 5000 miles is a good figure. You can remove the glow plugs while still electrically connected and see if they glow white hot when you first try and start it from cold. Be very careful not to touch them or allow them to touch anything that melts though!
  5. Welcome form me too madmp3 ....looking forward to your technical expertise and before anyone tells you different ....... the Giraffes name is Kate and I bought her to eat the moss off my house roof .... :P
  6. untitled1.bmpuntitled2.bmpuntitled.bmp Are the residents called F******s? What are the mothers called? What would you be learning at the F******g High School? Does the F******g Hospital help you with anything else? If your friend came from another town, he wouldn't be your F*****g friend.
  7. This could be the battery unless you've changed it already. What was the problem with the alternator?

  9. Tend to agree with sepulchrave on this one ........ could also be the head gasket and one or more of the pots are filling with water and the engine is hydraulicking. Try not to run the engine anymore until you or a mate have confirmed the problem.
  10. Me ....... we could start an alliance ...mmmmm ...The Galaxy Borg!
  11. Not keen on Peasants ...... chipped or otherwise ......... I hear they're revolting anyway! ...... ;)
  12. Have you tried a CD cleaner disc Martin ..... you'd be surprised at the rubbish that turns up on the disc brushes once the laser lens has been cleaned.

    Day Out

Some nice pictures there T ......... not so sure about the latter comments though but glad Granny enjoyed herself.
  14. If it was the MAF then it would appear to be sluggish at all revs and a bit rough on idle .... I reckon Tims right and the turbo vanes are not opening to there limit. Might be worth checking the amount of VNT actuator movement you are getting. I'm surprised it's not going into limp mode though. Have you also had a look at the TMAP sensor to see if that needs a clean?
  15. Real story by a Man who was standing in a queue in Tesco's.........??? I have two dogs, and I was buying a large bag of Winalot in Tesco and was standing in the queue at the till. A woman behind me asked if I had a dog. On impulse, I told her that no, I was starting The Winalot Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awoke in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices, and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and the way that it works is to load your trouser pockets with Winalot nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. I have to mention here that practically everyone in the queue was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a guy who was behind her. Horrified, she asked if I'd ended up in the hospital in that condition because I had been poisoned. I told her no, .......................... it was because I'd been sitting in the road licking my balls and a car hit me! I thought one guy was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard as he staggered out the door. Stupid woman ............why else would I buy dog food??
  16. THE SOLDIER AND THE NUN A soldier ran up to a nun. Out of breath he asked, 'Please, may I hide under your skirt. I'll explain later.' The nun agreed. A moment later two Military Police ran up and asked, "Sister, have you seen a soldier?" The nun replied, 'Yes, he went that way.' After the MP's ran off, the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said, 'I can't thank you enough Sister. You see, I don't want to go to Iraq.' The nun said, 'I understand completely.' The soldier added, 'I hope I'm not rude, but you have a great pair of legs!' The nun replied, 'If you had looked a little higher, you would have seen a great pair of balls.... I don't want to go to Iraq either.'
  17. No, you can get to it from the top ...just remove the plastic engine cover and reach back, hee hee ...... Good tip though .... put something like a towel underneath the area of the solenoid to prevent the nuts from dropping down the back when you undo them. First things first ...... check the filter from the solenoid behind the MAF area, again on the bulkhead. Secondly, check all the pipes to from the solenoid paying particular attention to the one that goes to the VNT diaphragm which controls the VNT actuator that opens up the Turbo vanes. Have a search on VNT and this will give you an idea what I'm on about. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...=62&t=5921# ......... have a read as you'll find it useful.
  18. Amazes me how people can't be arsed to look at a policy but can be arsed to post on here suggesting someone might be committing fraud and furthermore suggest abuse of admin rights. I think this said person owes mumof4 a serious apology. Regards - J Here, Here ......... I totally agree!
  19. Steve I assume you are talking about the Turbo Boost Control Solenoid, if so, if you look centrally behind the engine on the bulkhead you'll see an aluminium shroud with three nuts. It's behind there so you'll have to remove the shroud to get to it.
  20. An Israeli doctor said, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced, we can take a kidney out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.' A German doctor said, 'That's nothing! In Germany, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.' A Russian doctor said, 'In my country medicine is so advanced, we can take half a heart from one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.' The English doctor, not to be outdone, said 'Hah!. We can take an arsehole out of Scotland, put him in 10 Downing Street and have half the country looking for work within twenty-four hours!!

  23. Hee hee ... ... nowt wrong with ST Mondeos and I can see you in an ST TDCi Estate and much better looking and value for money than a Passat. The handling and torque is awesome and not much slower than the 3.0L ST220. It'll p*** all over a Jeep Cherokee as well ...... :27:
