Confused a bit???? ........... This sounds like the boot lock solenoid isn't operating and the most common cause for this is the tailgate wiring. Open the boot and locate the rubber wiring covers at the top corners. Carefully expose the wiring by manipulating the rubber protection covers and look for broken / chaffed wires. Hopefully you will find a broken wire.

Eddie ...... I didn't have a manual with mine either although the changer was connected to an MFD in my case. What do you need to know with regards to the changer? To be honest it was just a matter of pushing the button to extract the cartridge and inserting the discs the right way round and then pushing the cartridge fully home. If the discs were clean then each disc appeared on the Head Unit display as CD1, CD2 etc as opposed to "No CD"

From the experience of a few people on here, you'll need to check the state of the main fuse/bus box in the engine compartment. You're looking for burnt / discoloured cables and possibly melted plastic if it has gone that far. If that's OK then it looks as though you need to change the alternator or if you know a good auto electrical repair shop, get the diode pack changed on the alternator itself at a fraction of the cost of a new one. Have a good look at the cables and connectors from/to the alternator first before you remove it for repair.

Yep the TomTom 520, 720 and the One series all play MP3's via the Jukebox and you can transmit this to your car radio via the built in FM transmitter. I bought the 520T a while back when I changed the car which incorporates a built in TMC module and advanced bluetooth so you don't have to touch your mobile. It also has an SD card expansion slot so you can stick 4Gb's worth of music on it and not have to worry about changing cd's etc. The only thing I'm not keen on is the quality of the FM transmitter where you lose quality of sound but you can still feed an audio line out into the stereo if you have that facility. Your Ipod will connect to it if you spend a little on an adapter.

INSTALLING A HUSBAND Dear Tech Support, Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance -- particularly in the flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0 In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 and then installed undesirable programs such as AFL 5.0, The Ashes 3.0, and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no! avail. What can I do? Signed, Desperate .................................................. ................... Dear Desperate: First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Please enter the command: "http: I Thought You Loved Me.html" and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5,Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources). Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Food 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7. Good Luck, Tech Support

Janie sounds like the common problem of the connector coming off the back of the door sensor. Have a look at this site and you'll hopefully find your answer. http://www.mirez.co.uk/AlarmProbs.htm This will also include central locking issues as well as alarm problems. Good Luck

First thing I would Barryorba is to get hold of a multimeter and measuring DC volts, measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running. You should get between 13.8 and 14.4 volts and if it's around 12V then the alternator or associated wiring/main fuse box is suspect.

mmmmm ...... remember this from Gadgetoid? LOL. I see the blind are leading the blind here. Time to shed some light on the subject: The standard Ford Audio ( 5000RDS, 6006E, etc.. ) is 1.75DIN The SatNav unit is double DIN. And it is really a rebadged VW / Blaupunkt unit so the plugs are different and will need converters. It is a fairly simple job to remove the air con control, radio, cup holders and switch gear from your existing facia. Then remove the three screws that hold it in ( 1 in each cup holder slot and one at the back of the radio slot) Then replace everything in the new facia you will have just bought from Ford to fit the SatNav. The part number you need is F1319217. Only

That's where you're wrong ...... the standard Ford head unit is 1.75 DIN and the Navi is double DIN so you have to change the surround. The connector is different so you need to buy the adapter and there is also the matter of connecting the GALA cable. As far as looking down to read the map, you don't have to as all the directions are fed to the FIS between the tacho and speedo plus verbal instructions. Oh and the FIS ....... has to be Ghia spec.

Strewth Dave ..... that was expensive. -
I would initially suspect the wheel balancing if the vibration occurs at a specific speed. Have a good look at the tyres for uneven tread wear and any damage and if they are fairly worn consider changing them. As well as worn balljoints in the front suspension check the wheel bearings and CV joints for wear. A reason for the creaking could be the above but also the top bushes in the shock absorbers. As you turn the wheel the shocks twist slightly and with a corroded bush, it will cause a creaking noise. Hope this helps

Hello Jonathan .... welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy your stay. So, what car have you got? ...... if you edit your signature with your car details in, and with various different Mks, it gives us an indication of how we might be able to help you if you post any problems with it.

I think it changed sometime in 2003 Ade ....... don't know whether it was up or down but mine was due for a change because the 4 years were up although it still hadn't quite done 40K. Perhaps someone else can confirm it. -
Good luck Baz ....... I've always fancied driving for a living .... must be better than what I'm doing at the moment.

But what adrian doesnt point out, is that Bleeno was driving the truck that was carrying dear old departed mummy giraff when he ignored the low bridge signs and tried belting it under the bridge at a modest 74.2 MPH which resulted in poor old dear departed mummy giraff saying hello to Bleeno when her head landed on the screen, but the rest of her splattered on the side of the bridge. Mary, starting to worry about you girl!! you got a thing about giraffs?or is it the poster  You're correct about the mother being involved in an accident with a low bridge but unfortunately Kate, the unborn female, decided that is was time to come into the world shortly after Georgina met her tragic end. The eye movement you see is due to her mothers eyebrow twitching once her head had become detached and when presented to her mother, she started to mimic this movement as young animals do. I originally bought Georgina to eat the moss off of my house roof as she was cheaper than having someone to come and scrape it off every year and now after 4 years, Kate is as high as the bedroom windows hence the video, but still not tall enough to eat the moss off the roof. I'm thinking of starting a business with Kate once she is fully trained and intend to call it .............. KATE MOSS MUNCHING LTD. What do you think?

Hi Ade ....never had that problem before but if you remember how to remove the handles by removing the screw and armed with some WD40, I would be tempted to give a liberal spray around the door mechanisms which will save having to remove the door cards if it works.

For those who want a little more info on this subject have a look at the following link and with vwdriver's comments you should be able to diagnose this seemingly common problem. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...hl=VNT+actuator -
Sounds like a diesel Andy and as long as she's running Ok then I wouldn't over worry yourself about it. You will get a dark patch on the floor when you rev her up as you're blowing the soot out of the exhaust along with water produced by condensation. When was the last time she was serviced. You may like to do this yourself; Oil change, air and fuel filter ...... these can effect the emissions. When was the last time you gave her a good long thrunge as the oil can be affected by short trips? Are you sure the smoke is coming from the engine exhaust and not the Booster heater exhaust? ...... just a few thoughts you might like to consider.
