Yet Another Remote Key Programming Issue
mikej replied to tpurch's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Oh bloody great :) i to bought one of these had to make good the blank so it would fit the fob and although i havn't tried it yet i have JUST PAID -
SPOOKY  had my gal for 3 years now and had never had issues with the steering untill this weekend , had the same thing happen to me approaching a roundabout then no pas would have gone over the bloody thing if the engine hadn't died at the same time . Chucking it down with rain and guess what , no engine undertray on as i had left it off due to ongoing repairs. Scared the sh1t out of me . Turned ignition off and on and the gal run like a dog ( felt like it was on 2 cylinders ) with the pas belt squeeling like hell , a few high revs and it was all working fine again , put a new belt on to on the safe side and refitted the tray , now fine ! Will not be driving without it fitted again !

 Bloody hell gregers for president ;) your right , just tried them and all the keys start the car inc the plain black one and skinny plastic blade with the tag ( didn't know these had PATS chips in them ) so if thats the case the two button remote key is basically a remote to open/close the doors ? If i get a new blade cut and program the new fob to open/close the doors i have to reprogram my existing one at the same time to change the code yes ? Once done i can then reprogram the new fob to the PATS system using my other keys ? ;) i only bought this spare because i was worried about loseing the only fob , thought this was the only key to start the engine what a donkey , had the bloody car three years now and never tried them . God the shame ! thanks all yet again mike...

Sorry people the more i read this the more confusing it looks to me , this is the situation : 1/ I only have one 2 button remote key for my Galaxy 2/ I have a spare plain none remote key that was supplied from new If i lose my only remote key am i right in thinking i am stuffed and cannot start my car ? I have just bought a used Galaxy remote key same type as mine complete with the chip , once i have a new blade cut for it can i reprogram it so i can open and start my car with what i have already so i have a spare should i lose my existing one ? Nikpv from what your saying i must have two remote keys already programmed to achieve the above ?

Firstly sorry for all the bloody spelling mistakes in my post i was in a rush . Gregers i have got two keys but only ONE of them is a 2 button remote type with the transponder chip in it as stated the other is a plain key , i have just been informed you need TWO already programmed remote transponder keys to program a spare , is this not then the case then ? The whole purpose for me buying a secondhand remote transponer key with chip in it was to keep it as a spare incase i lost my current one so i can open and more importantly start and drive my car . I was going to buy a spare blank blade from Ebay , have it cut and then program it to my car with my existing remote transponder key can it be done or do i need TWO to do this ?

 Hi all sorry to drag this one up again but i am someone confused , i have a mk2 galaxy 2001 plate with one 2 button remote , i lttle red led on it key , 1 spare plain black key and what looks like a black plastic key , shaft only with a tag attatched to it ( this does actually open the door ) i have just bought a used working 2 button remote key from Ebay complete with the chip inside , my intention was to have a new blade cut and reprogram it so i could have a spare should i loose my one and only remote key ! can this actually be done by any method either in ignition or drivers door if so how , if not why not , do i need two original programmed remote keys first to program it ? if i cannot program it to start the car can it be programmed to open the car once a new blade is cut . Any one no of a company , locksmith who will do this pleasae don't say Fords , any help would be great please. mike... ;)

Yet another question for you all , i have been offered a good secondhand Galaxy gearbox from a friend for nowt ( to keep as a spare ) , my question is this , i have a 2001 2.3 manual gal with the following number stamped on the box casing ( 9571-7F096 ) Now he swears this box he has although it has the same stamp on it is from a older model and a diesel at that ! can this be the same box as mine and can i use it if needed or is it likely to be different in some way , gearing etc , did they use the same box on different models or is he mistaken ?? thanks mike..

 Mr Krassitt you are spot on in every detail , visited my local VW dealer and gave him the part no , back he came with the correct O ring . 40+pence each , over

It turns out that springs used on the mk2 are also used on the mk1 and vice versa , i have since found out that my own car has no less than seven different types that can be fitted ( in pairs only mind don't mix them ) apparently the type varies depending on model or more the case spec , for example Lx-ghia with different engines/trim levels use different springs for harder firmer or softer rides the difference is very minimal sometimes with less than five mm in spring length . Just though it may be useful to someone else looking for some !

Hi all does anyone by chance have the Ford part number for the o rings that are fitted to the aircon pump ( two off ) i need to replace the pump and would like to replace the o rings at the same time , have tried my local dealer for the above but they cannot find them or the part number  . As i don't want to buy every bloody o ring on the system i thought i would try here first ??? mk2 2.3 galaxy 2001 thanks mike....

Just repaired my rear wash pipe ( came apart at fitting due to pressure build up when the rear froze ) carpet underlay soaked but parking module survived , funny thing is its been making strange or at least different noises than normal although it still works ? stupid stupid idea , you'd think for the price of the pipe they could have made it one piece throughout the cabin  . Carpets now drying out with good old news paper as mentioned on here , i too am sure i have seen a parking sensor module on ebay very recently .

Brake Warning Light
mikej replied to cheekymonkey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have you checked the brake fluid level and/or the wiring around the reservoir ? -
Looking for a bit of advice based on experiences , i am currently running a 2.3 petrol gal on LPG , have been for about 2 years with no issues but thought it was time to renew the leads . Doing a little work under the bonnet today and noticed its a little rough on tick over ( my injectors need doing but its the same on gas also ), plugs fine only use NGK'S and change regular , my question is has anyone had experience with different brands ie Bosch , Beru or any others etc before the Ford man steals all my money . I must add that i actually work for Bosch Automotive but never really been that impressed with their gear although never bought leads ??? thanks mike... <_<

Hi all can anyone confirm that the galaxy mk1 suspension springs are the same as those fitted to the mk2 and does it really matter if they come of a diesel or petrol , i need to replace mine on my 2001 mk2 2.3 petrol ( snapped ) but need to keep the standard height ? or does anyone know of an upgrade that doesn't reduce the height , not looking to lower it etc .thanks mike... <_< p.s Anyone have original standard ones and want to sell let me know

Key Fob Battery Replacement
mikej replied to mikej's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Cheers both , i shall pick up a new battery tomorrow then look for a spare fob and blank mike.... -
Can anyone tell me what battery is fitted to the key fob on a 2001 mk2 2.3 gal 2 button type fob and what is the procedure for replacing it in plain english please , i only have the one key and am a bit worried that if i change the battery incorrectly i may loose any info on it if i do it wrong , do you have to reprogram it after ? Also if i was to purchase a second hand fob of the same frequency and model is it simple to reprogram this and keep as a spare fob and/or maybe get a new blade cut to go with the fob ? thanks mike..

Immobiliser Led Flashes
mikej replied to mike634949's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I know its not much use to you but had the same thing a few years back mk2 2.3 , firstly nothing when turning key , this happened a few times over a few months then cranking but non starting but for some reason it just went and car has been fine since . When i put the key in the ignition if the led was flashing then you would not hear the fuel pump in the rear prime ( electrical buzzing ) and the car would not start , if no flashing from led then the pump could be heard for a few seconds and the car would start normally . Basically when the fault occured i just had to keep reinserting the key into ignition and wriggling it prior to turning . As i said doesn't really help you any  -
Done this 3 times now in three years , strip , clean and back in again , will buy a new one eventually , its just the fact it lasts almost a year befor it returns !

Could the issue be a blocked oil pickup pipe in the sump , i have had a similar issue on a high mileage car were the gauze filter was blocked up with crap and starved top end on start up , ok once oil was warmed up . Although not a diesel gal once it was stripped and cleaned it was fine ?
