Wow a lot of good advice coming through , thanks everyone i will firstly go and try to purchase a thermometer to test the actual temp from the vents . If anyone has any tips on how best to do this , what to set the climate to etc please feel free to shout . thanks again mike ........ :)

QUOTE Normally on an overcharge your pressure goes way to high and the overpressure switch (same switch as low pressure) will trigger and cut out the air-con and you will get the flashing display on the climate control and lack of aircon, just as you would with low pressure. If the overpressure switch fails, it could be expensive. ????? Well my display has not flashed and the aircon has always worked although not cold enough so god knows whats going on ??????

QUOTE 1,I made the mistake of believing I had dual air con so charged the system to the upper figure which screwed up the whole system ! 2,You will find that these are water pipes for the hot water from the engine to get to the rear heater Oh sh1t ! i'm pretty sure on the last few recharges the garages have charged at the upper figure so maybe my system is now stuffed as well , what problems if any did you have before and after the recharge and did your new compressor sort your issues out ? Didn't know i had a rear heater so you live and learn , thanks all for the input people , the quest i feel continues . Having only experienced non ford aircon my wife pug 307 which was very cold maybe i need to sit in another working galaxy to get an idea of just what i should be getting as i have said the system is working as it should apart from the fact it just ain't cold enough its cold but not cold enough !

Well i havn't got a single roof vent anywhere and all my windows including the rears open so maybe the rear blower is just to circulate the already cooled ( or not in my case ) air around the car after all , why would the bloody controls for the rear include a temperature adjustment then ? don't make much sense to me !
-
Quote ( Sounds like you have single a/c, therefore option 1 700 + 50g. ) This is a little confusing as there are additional aircon pipes running to the rear beneath the car and as already mentioned i have dual controls 2x individual fan & temp controls for front and rear from the same climate control unit thats fitted beneath the stereo so i would have opted for the higher figure of 1050 + 50g but its not the first time i have been wrong ??, i mentioned that i believe the rear was just to circulate the already cooled air this is something i read on this forum and might not actually be the case , if anyone knows different then please shout

Just had a quick look under the bonnet at the AC sticker and it states Charge Level , Evaporator is 1 700 + 50g 2 1050 + 50g What is the correct amount of Refrigerant that should be put into the system is it 700 + 50g or is it 1050 + 50g although unlikely maybe these garages are not putting the correct amount in to start . I believe i have climate control , i deffo have dual front and rear controls or another blower in the rear but was under the impression that this was just to recirculate the already cooled air to the rear not actually rear aircon ? . Can someone advise on the correct amount of R134a refrigerant that should be going in and what would be a realistic % quantity left in the system say a week after a refill . thanks again , determined to get to the bottom of this once and for all. mike.....

Hi all i have a fully functioning air con system which works as it should with no flashing panel etc apart from the fact that it just is not cold enough , its cool but not cold as it should be . It has been regassed 3 times in two years to try and get to the bottom of it and each time no leak has been detected the compressor kicks in and out as it should and i have used it for hours on end but it just ain't bloody cold enough each time its regassed to the required quantity of gas but cannot reach the required temp , has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions please?????? mike.....

I posted on this sometime ago 2001 2.3 petrol , i removed pump and found it full of water and rusted to hell and back but after stripping it and soaking in wd40 it came back to life and lasted a good few months . However the cruise has gone again so i fitted a new pump and now it don't bloody work at all ! even though pump works fine on bench etc , i have no light on dash either and can hear a relay or something clicking under dash when selected but no cruise light and no bloody cruise . My dash has been partly stripped for months now in an attempt to locate the cc module but i have know way of identifying it , if you fix yours tell me how and i will gladly be your slave for a week lol.......... mike to recap : hose is fine pump is fine stalk works and relay clicks in on selection STILL NO CRUISE

Thanks gents for the replys , i was actually thinking along the lines of the condensor leaking but was unsure of the symptoms this would cause , the garage assured me there was very little if any loss of gas hence this kind of threw me . Am i right in thinking the less gas in the system the less likely it is to reach the required temp ???? can anyone offer some advice on were to purchase a condenser , know of any aftermarket suppliers etc thanks again

Hi all , popped into my local quick fit today to have the aircon regassed . They informed me that after the test and refill they could not get the temp much lower than when it arrived , approx 14 degrees , its working but has just lost the cold feel if that makes any sense and is no more useful than a open window . I know its not as cold as it was and they tell me its too warm but it won't go any colder and they don,t know why ???? Anyone an expert or any ideas , apparently no leaks detected and the correct amount of gas . How cold should it be and is it possible i have a knackered component ??? thanks mike.....

Hi all can anyone provide a clear photo or drawing of the cruise control module for the mk 2 gal 2.3 , maybe even a few part no's . After trying to locate it for ages think i have struck lucky but don't want to remove something else by mistake , the one i,m looking at is above the pedals beneath the drivers side dash ? I know it definately isn't behind the stereo cheers all.....

Anyone Seen These Wheels On Galaxy Or Sharan B4
mikej replied to georgel's topic in Customising your Ford Galaxy
Was thinking of these rs6 rims myself look the best by far in my opinion however i was a little concerned as to what tyres to fit , can you get xload/reinforced tyres for the rims then ?? mike........... -
Cannot see there being a problem , 97H would be better if fully laden all the time i suppose . My own gal has 95H rated dunlops 2020's all round , am sure others will soon let you know ! The only thing i would not be happy with is mixed tyres ( tread patterns) especially on the front , i personally would put it on the rear and bring one with the same pattern to the front but thats just me . If you decide to do this don't forget to alter the air pressure . mike.

Can anyone advise were the best ( cheapest ) place is to pick up a complete assembly inc motor /reg or even better does anyone have one for sale to fit my 2001 gal front drivers door :) thanks mike...

Hello all i know this may have been covered many times but its 10.30pm am in the bloody driveway freezing my nutts off trying to see in the dark and my drivers window will not go up at all , either with the switch pack or with the key (global closure) . I can clearly hear the motor clicking for the down movement but nothing at all when you press the switch to go back up , door panels off and i seem to be getting voltage at the motor plug for up AND down but no clicking for up only . All other windows working fine up and down , cannot see any broken wires in the loom between door and pillar , no water under passenger seat all dry totally stumped off and peed off as its my daughter birthday tomorrow and guess who WAS taking her and friends out for the day . Had no problems with window before at all no slow movement before etc so if anyone has any ideas on what the hell is going on please tell me . I noticed its cable operated and there is next to no room at all inside the door how the hell do i get the window up at all either by hand or otherwise ? any help and i'll be your slave for the week thanks mike............... :35: sorry 2001 mk2 gal 2.3 ghia

Bobski , very sorry mate i did not know this box was sealed i was just going on the past few auto,s i have owned that had similar symptoms sorry for the confusion i shall keep my mouth shut from now on mike....
-
Sound like nothing more than a fluid issue , check you level is correct , very important for auto boxs also note there may be two different levels one for hot fluid when the vehicle has just been driven and another for when the fluid is cold or vehicle hasn't been used etc this should be shown on the gearbox dip stick . If this doesn't help you could try changing the fluid as suggested .

1999 Petrol 2.3 Galaxy Smoking
mikej replied to stringbean's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Totally agree with above sounds very much like water in pots , gives a very thick white smoke especially when you gun it . Like already said i wouldn't drive it or it could cost you alot more than just a head gasket set lol . Try and take plugs out and have a nosey you may even be able to see it in the pots / plugs wet etc . Any temperature rise on gauge , rough running etc ? best of luck :16: -
