  1. That's what we're here for
  2. Hi Nik Did you not say you had been pressure and gas tested? Do you get any excess pressure when removing cap, any sudden rise in coolant level and pumping out of coolant even with a barely warm engine. I know I keep on about the pump but far easier to confirm. Can you trust the garage to have checked this, it's only two bolts to remove stat housing can you not do this for peace of mind, removing head is your last resort unless it becomes obvious that there is excess pressure. My way of thinking about the pump, at low engine speed if impeller was loose there would be a small amount of friction enough to shift a small amount of coolant around the system, a sudden rise in RPM could cause more slip and result in little or no circulation until RPM falls, a bit like the viscous coupling from years gone by.
  3. I know what your saying but to be honest you don't have to take a galaxy rad out that often, think of all the jobs that required removal of the rad in a mini? Water pump, bypass hose, bottom hose, timing cover/chain, crank pulley/seal.
  4. You need to check for broken wiring from the body to tailgate through the rubber gaiter.
  5. Don't think you can do it any other way
  6. Hi Nik I think I would be inclined to have a look at that water pump impeller just in case it's slipping on the shaft. You can feel this through the thermostat housing. What about the rear heater is that hot and of course the booster heater is that working.
  7. Not a lot of difference but this is the MK 2 front bumper MK2 Bumper removal.PDF
  8. Check fuse 33 it's not marked for wipers but does affect there operation.
  9. Have a look here http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/3623-aux-heater/page__st__75 Then scroll down to thread 81 There is a good how to on changing a glowplug.
  10. Unplugging in situ is not easy, much easier to remove fuse number 12 it will not affect anything else. Don't put your winter coats away yet you will need something warm on in the car :)
  11. Firstly you cannot use internet explorer with this site try Mozilla Firefox. To access the pollen filter you will need to remove the scuttle tray (3 bolts) the filter is immediately behind the wiper motor it is a fiddly job with the wiper motor in position but is do able.
  12. There's a proper tool available for winding in the rear calipers available from most factors, have done this with a G clamp to push cylinder and a pipe wrench to turn piston clockwise but fiddly, iirc the tool made by laser is about
  13. Hi Nik Come on mate keep up you already done this one 71 and now 74  ;)
  14. The plastic cover has a locking tab on each end, a flat blade screwdriver fed up from below by the pedals.
  15. Looking in the MK1 handbook for manual transmission it says, ESD-M2C186-A So Halfords are right
  16. There's 6 pages to this post, to see Seatkids whole "how to" you need to get on to page one and then scroll down. Look to the top left of the first pic you will see the page numbers.
  17. Broken spring maybe, not had this on a Galaxy but spring had broke and broken bit was sticking out and catching the inner wing panel. It wasn't that obvious, no visible change in ride height From memory I don't think you can put it back together wrong
  18. Don't forget to check the flow and return coolant pipes under the car supplying the rear heater and booster heater If there's no visible signs and no excess pressure in the system your EGR cooler may be leaking coolant into the exhaust system.
  19. You probably have overboost causing the limp mode, do you do a lot of town driving? if you do it's most likely sticking turbo vanes
  20. If fuses 19 & 51 are OK make sure that one side of the fuse holder is live with ignition on and window switch on, there may be a supply fault to the fuses.
  21. So you had some fault with your gearbox that's been repaired is that OK now? if electrical parts have been replaced you may have to reset basic settings using Vagcom. Do you have drive ability problems as you didn't say what your problem was
  22. The plug with wires was only fitted from new in the later models of the D5WZ after this the D5Z-F model had wires but a different fitting plug. Only sure way is to remove the controller/cover and see what plug is fitted.
  23. Hi there You should have posted the problem you was having initially as this is known about fuse 33 also powering wipers although it's not marked on the fuse listing.
  24. If you have a D5WZ heater with the plug without wires you can fit either plug, if you have the later plug already fitted you will need the piece of loom from an early heater to fit the early plug. Hope that answers your query
  25. Could be the pipe from engine to the ECU or the short piece inside the ECU split
