the value sees quite good as its 07 reg, m concern is that basically its a car from the 90s facelifted a bit and when you can get the newer fords and smax for a bit more cash it seems to make more sense, ive had all the probs with the gal and dont fancy going through it all again, but i know the car well and its history but its a gamble i think. how do you compare the smax with your galaxy you owned ?

hi all, im thinking of changing the old gal, 98 tdi 110 after many years happy service, a friend of mine has an 07 sharan 2.0 tdi se 140 hp he want around £6500 it has 95000 on the clock mainly motorway high speed work, my mileage is around 1000 a year now pottering about, at this mileage and age im wondering if id be buying trouble with this dmf and air con and i think i read somewhere about dodgy fuel pump on this model, you can get a 06 new shape gal for around the same money, im wondering what to do, anyone any expericence with this model engine sharan, it dont even have heated screen fitted , shame. even the old gal has this. thanks for any incoming advice. does this model also use the variable vane turbo like the afn engine.

How To Change A Pollen Filter
marinabrid replied to seatkid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
did mine today, usually goes in easy as i have done job a few times, today it just wouldnt go so after much cursing and tea drinking i try again, silly sod i had it the wrong way in with the 2 tags facing the wrong way round, to all mk 1 owners you can get it in without removing bolts of wipers. you cant stand it upright though until you have passed the wiper motor slide it in tilted . -

Booster Heater Again - Help!
marinabrid replied to g4hlf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
why not do as i did, i got a switch from ebay and removed the sensor ran 2 wires to the switch from the sensor and then you can turn it on or off to suit yourself. i got a 2nd heated windscreen switch and wired it to that works a treat. -
ok thanks all sorted

1.9 Tdi Starting Problems
marinabrid replied to wackojackouk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
had very similar problem, turned out it was the starter motor, if the car has decent mileage could be worth replacing it with a good branded like bosch recon dont go for the cheapo types. -

Hi all thought i would try and poke a coat hanger down the tops of the drain holes that are somewhere in the scuttle tray corner area, can i find them , can i eck, anyone got a photo where they are or an exact location, i had me torch out a mirror angles there but couldnt find a hole , thought i would try the top approach rather than having to take the wheel arch line off,,

Condensation Inside
marinabrid replied to paulandsue's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
in same boat, i have no leaks from pipe or heater , have put new pollen filter in, air con works fine, but when it gets cold ,the inside is misted up, i go then and start car and run with aircon on before i can drive away, then when i park up, if its cold outside it steams up while im away, i have left windows open a bit but it still steams up. so sit in car 5 mins demisting before i can drive off. i tried it without aircon, cold air inside car, i get somehwere, leave car, steams up again, very odd goings on. -
unsure about life of the new plug, i have had the one with the nut on in my heater for the last 4 years with no problems, i would think it quicker and easier to fit, the wires can become brittle around the multi plug and if disturbed could cause you problems you didnt have, just speaking from my own experience, have had gals since 1996 and sorted these heaters out with just new glowplug, id say stick with the original. but of course others may say otherwise. we all have our own choice.
-
if your old plug has a threaded nut on then this new one with wires is the wrong one, its for the later heater, take it back for a refund and get the beru one from a gsf dealer it will be much cheaper as well. the beru numbers are in the other reply , the one ending 340 is what you need, its then a straight swop over. very odd for the vw man to say thats the only part available, they have all the parts avaialble at my local dealer 1 sounds like he cant be bothered to help you.

Aux Heater Guide
marinabrid replied to Davehillbo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
they do corrode badly around the bolts that fasten the heater together, i got new ones from vw dealer as the old ones had to be cut out, its worth doing but time consuming and a garage may charge a lot to do it, but a glowplug will probly cure your common problem, i think you can get the bolts from eberspacher dealers as well by post. -

Improvements On Later Model Vw Sharan
marinabrid replied to marinabrid's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
thanks once again for your great knowlage on these i think i may stick with my old bus and save the cash, maybe a mk3 gal would be a better option any opinion on these seatkid ? thanks -
Hello, anyone know much about the later sharans ? am thinking of selling the old gal, a pal of mine has a sharan 07 2.0 diesel with 140 engine with 70,000 on the clcok that he is selling, i am wondering if any improvements were made to these later models if anyone knows regarding the air con in particular or are they the same components used in the last of mk 2 gals. as the car is around 5 years i would expect things to be starting to wear so dont want to end up with huge bills for things like air con, front suspension top mounts booster heaters ans expensice clutch jobs, done all these jobs on me mk 1 and dont want to start again ! he wants around

most branches of GSF car parts have the plug in stock or can get it for you in a very short time at the right price
