in the handbook that is for the navigation system it states in there the unit controls the cd changer that is fitted in the boot ! tell you how to play cps and skip shuffle etc . if you could take a pic of the plug that comes from your loom if the colours match up i may be able to connect it somehow, unless they changed the colours is nothing ever simple. i just can't see the possibility that ford wouldn't let you fit a cd changer everyone has one ! and the fact that the sat nav unit also has stamped on it cd control means it must be possible.

thats the same as the dealer shows me, but the cable isn't shown in its true form, two of them are left hand drive so can be forgot the others say less multi media this car has multi media fitted this is getting very odd again, all i need is a lead with female fitting on both ends to fit the changer with male pins and the loom plug with male ends.

i have a feeling that your plug will be the opposite to mine but if you can check the other end where it goes to the loom above the wheel arch it will either come straight forth gloom to the changer or have a flylead chances are it will not have a flylead and i for some reason have this odd reverse plug that there is no way of joining it

yes thats the number on the cd changer i bought but as you see it has pins inside the plug i need one with holes very odd

wondered that but every single changer i have looked at is the same. the breaker i got it from says he has 6 and they are all with the same male pins, thats why i thought there was a flylead, i have since gone into the box and found the loom above the wheel arch and unclipped it, its more than long enough to come into the car and plug into the cd without any extra leads, so i have a cd with pins fitting and a plug on the loom with pins also the wires are different colours and position so i dare not attempt to join them.. the chap at the breakers supplied the unit with a wire that plugged into the cd but then it was cut in half so no plug on the other end which now I'm thinking was never there it just went into the loom, and again the colours are all different.

Hi all This mk 2 i bought has no factory fitted cd changer in the rear storage box, there is a lead coming from the loom under the box that is fitted with a square plug., i though this would fit the ford cd changer. it doesn't, i got a used cd changer but the plug on there is the same as the plug on the loom, i went to ford and he couldn't find anything. i need to know if anyone has a cd changer fitted in the rear box if it has a short lead that goes into the plug on the loom or if the wire to the changer comes directly out of the loom with a single plug on that fits into the changer i think there must be a short flylead that joins the two hope that makes sense

hi all i got this ghia model 54 reg, it had multimedia system fitted at factory and not a cd changer. very odd to scrimp anyway i got a cd changer for the rear storage box but it came with only half the lead, the chap had simply cut it in half it left the plug in the cd changer but wires on the other end, the loom has the same square plug fitting there must then be a lead from the changer to the loom that has the same fitting on each end but I'm struggling to find any ideas ? thanks

well we bought the car after a test drive , i was surprised how smooth it was compared to my last auto over 20 years ago a sweeney ford granada, the vagcom shows no faults on the gearbox so am hoping it will carry on for a good few years yet, i did find on a forum somewhere it was early boxes that were prone to fail and later boxes had been modified in someway.

seems another 2 min job now will take longer on the mk 2 looked at the links seems easy enough. Thanks for all your help.

this mk 2 seems to have a different scuttle panel than the MK 1, that was simply open the bonnet and there were 3 bolts and the panel was out, what is the procedure for removal so i can clear what looks like half a tree under there, think the least owner must have lived by trees ! there seems to be a panel over the wipers that needs the wiper arms removing before it can be lifted of, do i need to remove this to get at the scuttle panel ? Have now changed sig , yes its is a tad faster ! no doubt the fuel bill will now go up but as we only do 800 miles year i don't think it will hurt.

oh must have forgot i have gone from diesel mk 1 to a 54 reg petrol v6 automatic in the mk2 so no booster heater, i have put the car, a spare D5WZ booster heater and exhaust and a new air con compressor for mk1 on the for sale section will see how it goes over the coming summer and what if any problems it gives me !

Looks like we have a full answer to the question and how the system works for those with dual air con. Many thanks for your great help. one other question i have i never had this climate control before so am unsure how it operates, if i set auto and the temp set is 22 which seems to be the factory setting does the system automatically choose to use the air con until the temp is down to the set one be it 22 or more or less. then does it turn of the compressor when its not needed , i was just wondering if its simply best to turn it to auto and leave it alone, i dint want the compressor running all the time if not needed but if it is only used as and when by the system then i can leave it.

if you think about it your description is correct, the front air con cools the air for the front only, if you want cold air from the roof vents then you turn on recurculation mode and the cold air that is inside the car is then drawn in through the floor and sent out through the roof vents leading to a cooler car front and back thats my theory unless someone has a different one.

May have found something here. Reading the ford handbook silver beast was correct in his 2012 statement, on page 44 it states, the rear air con only operates in recirculated air mode, i will try and test it when the weather is hot again, there must be others out there with dual who can confirm their handbook states this also.

thanks for the info i don't know where you get it !!! i think I'm very lucky to have the front working at all and should be happy, I've managed in the mk1 for 10 years with just the front and was happy enough, now I'm on our 1st mk2, must say they are are very much more refined drive , i will check out the pipes under the car to see if one is hot and cold.

found this on the forum from silver beast written in 2012 I was wrong about this, the wording in the handbook is confusing in that it says the Rear Air Con only works in "recirculate mode". It doesn't mean you have to set the system to recirculate mode, it means that the air in the rear compartment is drawn from inside the car prior to cooling not from outside. The front air-con (&heating) has the option of drawing the from outside through the Pollen Filter as normal or from inside when you press the recirulate switch. how does air get drawn in to the system from inside , in that case is it ever going to be as cold as the front vents ?

had a good look but can't find any other members who have had the same problem, could the climate unit be faulty and not send the cold air to the back but send it to the front ? or is it more likely something else yet nothing else is putting a code up.

was looking for the headlamp adjuster switch in the new mk 2 , couldn't find, then see it has these xenon lamps, looked on the forum and found some info about if battery changed then the lamps don't level. the car had a new battery before i bought it a few days ago. i put it on vagcom found the module no.29 left light and there was a code if anyone can shed some light on what it means. 01042 control module not coded 55-00 adaptation not successful does this mean the lamps won't self level anymore ?

another spare from my shed, a fully working D5WZ booster heater this is the single plug model fitted up to 02 03 ? unsure i had it fitted to an old MK1 we had not the one I'm selling this was one we sold and i kept the heater as a spare its had a new plug fitted and last time used a few years ago it work fine comes with newish exhaust pipe and a newish air inlet pipe 2 pipe clamps to make the job a doodle just unbolt clamp the date hoses remove and replace. offers around
