  1. Haven't done any work on wishbone's ? have you? if there tightend at wrong posistion you might get a clunk from shock tops .Or check for loose wheel i once drove 200 miles with one thinking I was limping home with shafts on way out.
  2. Hopefully its just the head take the sump off and look at crank to check though Its not a bad as you would think if its the head on the 1.9 is interchangeable with lots of other diesel' This deals dosnt look so bad i guess if you looked at other 1.9 head's fitting engine code ANU which am guessing is yours. This person is selling the bits complete http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-VW-DIESEL-CYLIND...=item2c527ccbe9 this ones not bad http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/volkswagen-1-9-tdi-s...=item45f04c333d http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Audi-Ford-Seat-1-...=item2a07ae52c2 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-Elring-Cylinder-He...=item2a025e5c78 It would an excellent time to replace the cam belt also http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-VW-cambelt-v...=item19bc50cd72 chin up pints half full
  3. Yes that would work the idea is not to let air get into system as I understand air in the abs pump is a real pain.so make sure there plenty of fuild in the reservour. Leave to cap off bleed the nipple . If you have some big mole grips try winding the disc on the windback tool inside the caliper, the bit that is'nt connected to the piston.hope that make sense. As a last resort before you get recon caliper or strip and put on vice ,try and wind the windback tool putting a socket on the windback tool might give it the nudge its needs.
  4. Ive been there staring at the brake and do feel for you .However try this Make sure you have some brake fluid to hand to top up the brake reservoir. The easy way I have found to do this is remove the 3 screws which hold the tray in engine bay as reservoir is behind air box. then find a tube about 10 inches long i used a spark plug tube and taped up the holes or a piece of rubber hose so you can pore the fluid into the reservoir Then you need to release the brake bleed nipple I used one of those carton's with a tube to attach to the nipple before i undid nipple that releases some pressure so you can wind and unwind to get the tool back out . It needs some perseverance to get the tool out but be rest assured it will.
  5. What tends to happen is the ht lead to the spark plug under the maf gets moved by alot and often breaks its likley thats your probem check your plugs see if there wet . good luck kev
  6. he should have left the wheel and cut away car ;) Or welded a bolt to the locking bolt and then undid !
  7. Hi jayton, It is easier to change the hub rather than mess around with wheel bearing .The hub would need to come off to bench press some new bearing's in or use bearing pullers...good luck on that one For a front hub. jack the car up onto axel stand Remove wheel Remove Brake'hook up with some wire on the shock spring' Remove brake bracket 18mm socket remove disc by removing the allen key disc holder. Use blow torch to heat up the bit where he hub goes on to the shock so you dont snap the bolt .The 2 bolts a on the bottom of the hub which go to he whishbone should undo easy enough undo. The steering arm might need a ball joint separator. Rear hub's in technical terms a doddle He presto jobs a good un.
  8. K&N'd a mondeo once.... I think you would have the same effect if you added some go faster stripes :D

  18. Hi all Problem is no cruise control after ecu change over . I had a problem with a chip in the key not recognising the pats system a long time ago so replaced the brown pats box , sensor ring ,key and the ecu as wasnt sure if the parts are married . I have a basic copy of vag and cannot see where to switch on the cruise control option. Does anyone know if the pats box and ecu are married to each other so if i put on the old ecu. would i have an expensive divorce on my hands. Hope you can help Kev
  19. like most computers they need to be rebooted everyso often try disconnecting battery ensure you have radio code first though dash's are easy to change 5 screws iirc though the mileage would be out dont think it would be more though...

  22. I would try lambada first some wd40 on the wires connecting the lambada senser might do trick or new probe ,you can test them with voltmeter. the lambda goes into cat.To locate you follow drivers passenger side door piller underneath car you will see some wires comming out exhaust the connection block do a wiggle test good luck kev
  23. hi as luck would have i have just replaced drivers side rear pads n disc on my 97 gal i didnt bother to open bleed nipple was going to do other side but the locking bolt has rounded and needs and impact driver . Anyways first 25 miles to work fine and were extremly firm but on way from work being tired i coasted a bit to close to car in front and slammed my anchors on the brakes went like jelly after pressing again i was lucky and came to a safe stop. yesterday i took a very therapeutic bus ride to work grinning inanely when it stopped the people on the bus must have thought i was a special daytripper as i found myself humming the wheels on bus go round and round. erm think i gave myself a bit of a scare doh. :D so on inspection the seals went i can only guess the extra pressure from not openning the bleed nipple. My Dad says that the servo does opposite wheels in an emergancy so i was lucky to have only done one .i have ordered and got brake http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=250475228773 the brake hand beake spring i can only just press not like the one on galaxy which is a bit to easy i will fit it sat but need to work out how to slack off hand brake would be grateful if anyones got idoits guide. judging by the state of disc i took of i think i was asking too much of a 13 year old car in retrospect maybe not opening the bleeds is a newer car thing :)
  24. ;) :D :D :D
