cyborg replied to Andrew Johnson's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II

I just changed the oil and oil filter so everything is fine there. What oil did you use brand and numbers on can please. Could it be a faulty fuel filter? unlikley, no harm changing it for future Could it be a faulty oil pressure sensor? Does glow plug light on dash flash? Could it be my spark plugs? Erm diesel's use glow plugs no harm changing them Could it be a fault in the wiring between the engine and the ECU? Some wires do deteriorate over time but its comon for power relay to fail think its 109 which is 3rd level of fuse panel philips screwdriver rec ! I added some Redex Diesel Fuel Cleaner stuff to the tank although only filled the tank up half full. Could I have too much fuel cleaner mixed in with my fuel and could this be causing the engine to cut out? No So the really important bit of all this is oil type. please let us know.

Would replace rubber shock mounts and bearing's while your at it tools required to complete task 21mm socket and breaker bar Large Mole grips Blow torch 7mm allen key socket The tops can seize 21mm top bolt 7mm hex inner but if you have new shocks big mole grips to hold inner and air the top bolt Hub bolt heat up case blow torch then undo so bolt doesn't snap. The job isn't that hard just time consuming and annoying if bolts snap shocks can be heavy so upper body strengh req .

Help Needed With Fault Code
cyborg replied to dave21's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
First of all you don't need a crank sensor for engine to run.Without the sensor your car is running in limp mode or factory default mode the sensor helps more accurate measement of crank posistion thus allowing more power if the new sensor doesn't make a difference then the obvious thing to do is test wires to the sensor and the sensor itself. On most diesel's the brake switch cutts the diesel when decelerating so a faulty brake switch cutting the diesel is a a posibility and could explian odd random cut out's as the switch is deteriorating. -
congrats on pass ,but i never get slight corrosion ! surly the pipes have had it or haven't ! vagueness should not be part of an mot especially where brakes are concerned . I think brakes are one area on the mot where the uk needs to change restriction's.

If your window screen crack is outside 'A' then no worries about next mot . Apparently you must have 40mm either side of steering wheel of visabilty without scracks stickers etc. http://www.ukmot.com/new_pa7.jpg I would go scrapy's or just skip a saturday night out ! n'save for autothingy route ,chances are nothing will happen with your screen for now somthing to do with lots of little wires holding it together iirc

cyborg replied to philclemo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sadly still the owness is more bias to the consumer proving fault. Your right the system isn't foolproof, just make sure you get full names for corrispondace .If dealing with a major company ask for there company policy's document's some times the advisoir may not known there own policy. Fingers crossed for you . -
2.3 Zetec Auto - Have We Bought A Pup?
cyborg replied to philclemo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hmm, Once you request a repair you 'reject your right to refund or replacement 'you must decide a clear line from the off its an urban myth to think you can have your repairs then change you mind and reject 28 days is the time frame for finding faluts and those faults must have been there prior. If you select repair you must follow reasonable time frames this can be up to 6 weeks.Do request a loan vehicle don't be aggresive or rude do remmeber its you who made the decision to purchase they did not knock on your front door . If you select to reject copy of aa report and independant mechinic repot with a rejection letter pointing out that you feel the product is not fit for purpose. is clear cut and would stand in local court however i would point out that there is a few million in unpaid fines and you could win but loose.if ther not bothered by a what the judge says and claim all manor of problems... you must be put back into a posistion poir to purchase easier said than done. Best advice ask for loan be polite work with the garage remember they may be disappionted as you that the car has not gone well . give reasonable time frames . -
Hi tell Welcome to forum, Hi I don't know what fault code 16 means but i can tell you that . The Transceiver picks up a signal from a chip inside your key ,Sometimes they get lost when you change batteries as they can easly fall out . your car will turn over for 2-5 secounds without the chip.It may even start and cut out as the ecu discovers the codes from key dont match some things to check key has chip. Try using spare keys to start car. Ecu Fuses see your handbook . When i had a start problem a few years back I changed ecu, pat's brown box under ecu transciever keys and all locks. It took a while to remove ecu as its behind clock the ecu had 2 security screws holding in place size 27 or 30 iirc. However it was a manual and didn't have an auto box ecu so not sure in your predicament . But i must say if the car doen't turn over at all I doub't your problem is pats related .
