well bought some genuine wheels ex audi a8 18 " was worried about the offset being 48 until i took the cap off my standard mk1 alloys and saw an offset of 59 the wheels have 245 / 45 zr18 tyres avon as new and an offsett of 48 and fit very well untill i did a full lock and the tyre and some snow caught on a bit of plastic on the near side arch i pushed the plastic back and they havent been a problem the drive is a better with no real changes to speedo although 4th gear is now like 5th where revs are concerned and first and secound have more umph I am not planning on towing a shed anytime soon although i did trailer some rubbish to tip all felt normal mind you am driving the V6 verision so i could be sure how the larger wheels would be on less power if you were a shed puller. In theory using the link in previous post you could easy put 20" alloys on a mk1 galaxy on ride height .... where did i put that landrover badge

I take that you have done some rudermentry checks.like checking a spare spark earthed on engine .A compression test.. .Pats alarm bypass . I would be Inclined to check cam sensor or bad earth . good luck

Dont worry happened to me once i look into a simular problem once. the philips chip can easly clonned and costs about 35 squid from a lock smith with new key.however stealers would see you as an easy 200 and laugh as they take key to locksmith.... ;)

As you know i have just been to Scotland . on the way back i thought i might get an extra mile to gallon if i checked my tire pressures and oils so i duly put a thimble of air in the tyres and filled up a quart of a litre of oil . when i took the lid off the oil it had one of those plastic covers as well so i pressed it, it went every where spent 5mins using the for court tissues to clean it up anyway i gets stuck in Glasgow for an hour the engine temp goes to 115 :rolleyes: and got me thinking the oil i just put in must be pants and it must be hell getting to work in glasgow traffic,so dialed 65mph and drive through torrential down poors stopping off three times as rain was so bad 378miles covered i crept into bed wondering why i only have 10miles of petrol left. so this morning i thought i would open the bonnet only to find i hadn't put the oil cap back on the engine :DOH: seems that the knackered felt liner had acted as a plug :lol: all seems well car runs colder than before i went and more power bizarre
