  1. Hi and welcome to the forum,Hi check relay 30/27 first some ware in faqs section .If not It is likley that the pats and ecu are the cause. most people go scrappy route and get ecu, pats box, pat ring, lockset and keys cost anthing from
  2. http://kevinshipp.t35.com/galaxy/S8000103.JPG minxy been replaced I think I will miss her when shes gone
  3. sounds like a blocked fuel injector unlikley but possible the injector has low flow setting below 3000 rpm high flow over so. However I bought cheep ht leads and the ohm's reading's were way off which gave me poor power so i replaced with 10 mm race and iridiam plugs and never looked back http://kevinshipp.t35.com/galaxy/S8000090.JPG
  4. Hi Darton, Cant offer a fix but can offer membership to the same club! I have 52 1.9Tdi 115 and the gauge behaves in a similar fashion (since the warranty expired!). Sometimes it fails to register at all at switch-on. I find I can clear this occasionally by switching ingnition off and on again. I had the cluster checked by someone who has VAG.com, you can test all of the gauges with this ie Speed, Rev, Temp and Fuel. Mine checked out OK. Hi same thing happened to me with a temp gauge so i disconnected the speedo clock's 5 screws iirc and unpluged and plugged in again the fault disappeared.
  5. There is a 2.3 just arrived in corby scrapyard which is just behind a DIY/Timber yard 55 Geddington Rd, Corby NN188ET 01536 202393 Its a silver ghia x still in front of yard so wouldn't be hard to get then to forklift for sump.
  6. Because its been raining loads..I would remove the scuttle tray 3 10mm screw's just under wipers .Then look at the block connecter wire's going to wipers my guess is they haven't been secured propery and its sitting in water in the tray then have a root around for blocked suttle drain which I think may have caused original problem.
  7. hi this fact sheet shows the way All credit to vanbursta. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=10249&st=0&p=81317entry81317 The coil / hedgehog has ht leads to your sparks which is to right of engine the bit your looking for is at front. You only need to do the thermostat as picture 3/4 you can check yours with a kettle and jug.
  8. Thanks chrispb123456 spot on.
  9. According to parkers the Empty weight of a galaxy is 1724 kg some are few kg lighter. car 1724/4 =431 tyre load index 79providiving no ones in car Now add 7 Adult people Each having weight of say uk average 56kg (car 1724kg + 7people 392kg=2116) /4 =529 tyre index load required 86 Now if your carrying 7 suitcases 7*25kg 7 average weight people + roof rack 50kg (car 1724kg + 7 Adults 392kg + suitcases 175kg +roof rack 50kg =2341kg)/4=585.25 tyre index load 90 Extrime loading Example. now add caravan twin axle full of house stuff..say 2000kg + car 7 people 7 suitcase's and roof rack =4341kg 4341/4=1085 tyre index load required tyre load index 111 I think if you not towing, don't go fast as speed would equal more brake weight you can put a lighter load tyre so any thing over 90 makes sense although this all theroy. My best advice is put on the best you can't afford ;) keep safe.
  10. hi start with thermostat before pumps
  11. hopefully Could be an airblock or its been topped up with water for so long there's very little in way of coolent you might get lucky. try leaving the coolent cap off overnight. Putting the heater on max, blows cold air over radiator behind dash.Try putting just rear heater on see if you have any heat. Impaler on waterpump failure its a commen problem or secoundry pump failure there's a 2nd one to drive coolent to rear heater test it by putting in a pipe then you just need a bucket of water and immerse the bottom of pump in it . Either way test both.
  12. Hi this problem has more sides than a rubic's cube. It's a 2.0 Alhambra She's had new coil, leads, point's,cap, plugs its an ADY engine, emissions were boderline so new cat ,The compression 13 bar the shims are ok starts and idle's fine cold so the problem is the exhaust blows sound like a rasberrys and slight stutter and after a long journey the idle is erratic I have it down the exhaust centre I even put plumbers smoke up exhaust no leaks. the other problem is the brake pedal is very hard and it dosn't seem to stop it has new rear pipes and front pads. Greatfull for any idea's
  13. oh just one thing you won't find galaxy on the vag software list just select sharan or alhambra.
  14. hi, ebay have the answer this will be just the ticket the software comes with it. You will be able to turn off light however if clockspring is faulty it will come back on. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-COM-USB-KKL-OBD-2-Cable-AUDI-VW-Skoda-Seat-VAG-COM-/350394361918?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item519521a83e
  15. May not show up in vag 'mine didn't' If your fuel is around 15mpg also and car feels lumpy then lambda sensor is where i would hedge my bet 16.99 one on flea bay works well ,size 22 spanner will be needed. Oil in intake could be Leaky valve seals,Essentially the piston compression pressure pushes petrol air mixture up into the head through the valve seats, a small amount will come through in normal operations. the fumes sent by breather hose from this process are normally burnt off (some modder's disconnect Pcv Valve's to reduce emissions on mot's or for small power increases they use an oil catch tank). A small amount of oil is normal on intake as it is also used to reduce wear on intake valves and was traditionally there to lubricate old carburetor cars.I don't think its your problem,Mind you i haven't seen car! Did you check compression ? good luck.
  16. As it happens i took some photo's when I did mine .I had the extra bit of plastic that goes from heater to dash so when i got annoyed trying to undo screw underneath it wasn't a problem. Until i put extra hole in plastic :(.
  17. If you remove the tray for the cabin air filter /wipers you can get to two pipes the go to the cabin heater. To join the pipe and bypass heater you need a bit of tube some long nose plyers to bypass the heater for now.Which in my opinion isn't a bad idea for now.In the long run it may save you warping your cylinder head. To replace the heater its not that hard all you do is unscrew two screws which are near the pipes these hold the dash from the inside(if getting a heater from scrappy's dont bother just pull the dash). You don't need to remove steering wheel to remove dash do have a helper to wiggle it out passenger door. The speaker's panel's near small windows just pop out.If you have passenger airbag just remmber to disconnect battery.A competant experianced D.I.Y er will take 2.00 hours to remove dash plastic a lot less if you have a charged eletric screwdriver and on a mission. Fitting the heater matrix itself needs a wibble wobble to get in and out you will need a torq screwdriver. The plastic surroud can be brittle so be careful.
  18. Hi if your rev's increase whilst going up hills its a sure sign your clutch is on its way.If it doesnt then its compression check if ok check lifters. The valve's are hydrolic the easy way to check is take rocker cover off and use a piece of wood to press the tops of lifter under each cam shaft lobe,if they go down more than .10mm or so then they need replaceing. Oh before you do all that i notice you said you changed ht leads did you put some light grease on then and made sure there home sometimes if you dont they will catch and not connect.
  19. They arrived
  20. the rear bush is alloy and easy to cut out with a blade or hammer out then lightly tap new one in they bend easy, but who's gonna see it so it doesnt have to be a work of art.For the front bush they pull out with a large socket small washer and a nut and bolt. On the v6 engine you need to either undo engine mount's or take of sump for drivers side arm.
  21. Went for test this afternoon fast idle test fast Idle test Fail limitations speed 3060 pass [2750-3150] CO 0.64%vol fail [0.3] HC 69ppm pass [200] Lambda 1.01 pass [0.95 - 1.09] 2nd fast Idle Fail limitations speed 2960 pass [2750-3150] co 0.44%vol fail [0.3] HC 43ppm pass [200] Lambda 1.00 pass [0.95 - 1.09] Natural idle test limitations speed 740/min pass [600-800] co 0.31%vol pass [0.5] failed on CO on fast idle not at rest . I think the hc is ok so spark is burning fuel not sure if am right though I think the Co is possibly the Lambada sensor or cat however not sure again is there another o2 sensor apart from maf would a leak in the cooling system get the temparture sensor to over fuel. The reality is i think am spitting in the wind please help and point in right direction
  22. Just ordered a set of blue 4 mutlicore ht leads 10mm ,Aparently the spitfires are 8mm... The ones I bought cheap at christmas are kicking 7 - 25 ohm's and car is runnning ruff They did me a special price for being a member of the galaxy forum as i mentioned they looked after vw and passatt forum so i thought why not us! They were unaware that the 2.8 was running a vw engine I said id post about it so here. he will do other member's a price which is cheaper than the ebay one for all us. www.formulapower.com
  23. It is possible you have a split coil and leads 6 + 1 which are the leads nearest front aren't firing as they go in pairs, you have been running on 4 cylinders take out plugs 6 + 1 look to see if a oily they should be a light brown colour just to confirm . When you take the ht leads off check the resistance on the leads should be around 5ohm's just in case it duff ht leads .If you have have a spare spark plug it into the lead to check leaving all plugs in engine of course. however iam not responsible if you blow yourself up on vaporised fuel :)
  24. Could be the the ht leads if one is broken .. check the ohm's ,On the leads they often say the ohm's so check resistance with multimeter however i think its probably a cat problem though check the lead to cat bend the pins slightly and reconnect .
