I'm getting a banging noise from the rear offside when i go over bumps or pot holes in the road Ive sat in the back of the Gal and bounced up and down, and the noise seems to be coming from beneath the car I'm assuming its a shock absorber problem The car is a 2006 Mkll with 71000 on it Any thoughts if it could be a shock problem or any other known problems at the back end that could cause this noise Cheers Dave

Change Xenon Bulb

I changed to the Phillips XTreme and although they are not HID, they certainly are a brighter whiter light, than the standard 40w :o yellowish colour that are standard on the Gal -
Change Xenon Bulb
davewill replied to Erik Solvang's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There is 4 screws to remove. Look down where the flash light is, there`s one hidden , must use a lamp to find it. When i changed my bulbs i just loosened the torx screws and pulled the light unit forward. If you remove the screws it is virtually impossible to replace the one at the bottom as you cants get hands to it. By just loosening you can tighten back up after you have replaced haedlight unit -
Also forgot to say its for a Mkll version

Sorry Guys the upload went wrong Basically i am trying to locate the rear nearside seat (left hand seat as you look in through "boot") in the same pattern as these pictures show If anyone has one spare in good condition (no rips or tears etc) please let me know, as i would be interested in buying Thanks Dave

Ok, this is probably one of the most basic jobs there is on a car (apart from topping up the water bottle), but after spending 25 minutes changing a fuse on my Mkll Gal yesterday, what a pain in the arse it is  Basically the rear boot power point and the front power point were not working, so i thought it must be a fuse gone. Looked in the manual and found there were 2 fuses covering both these in the main fuse box under the steering wheel Opened up the fuse flap and then there was the plastic cover over the fuses. After 10 mins of trying to get this cover off i resorted to taking off the black piece of dash just above the brake pedal. This gave me better access. Managed to prise off the clear plastic fuse cover, but couldn't get it completely out Had just enough room to remove fuses 7 and 8 but getting the new ones in was like trying to thread cotten through a pin head. I've got large hands, and at one point i was thinking of asking my 11 year old lad to have a go, as his hands are a lot smaller. Anyway eventually managed to change both fuses and pushed a wiggled the clear fuse cover back on All in all 25 minutes and scraped knuckles, but at least everything is now working

Sort of like 'em, but then sort of don't  10 out of 10 for effort though Just a thought, if you got a couple of dalmations to stand alongside the car, do you think it would blend in :P All the best Dave

Stuart Never had those electric rear vents on my 2002 Zetec, so not missed 'em  BTW i suppose a scrappys would be the best place to look for early swivel seat mounts, as of course they are on the older cars Out of interest in which year did swivel seats in Gals/Allys/Shazzers first apppear??
-
Insider - Thanks for that That answers it then 2002 Zetec Model swivel seats as standard, then 4 years later when you would expect all "standard items" to still be there, plus maybe a few new as standard that originally were options, doesn't happen, coz Frauds go backwards and make a standard item an option - Brilliant!! Chris (Bleeno) nice to hear from you again, hope you are well Thanks again Dave

I "thought it was" (trying to convince myself) but i only have the height adjustment lever on the left hand side of the drivers seat, and no levers at all on the passsengers seat. Do you think this was standard fit, or the seats have been changed at some time??? Cheers
-
Nope, just plain bog standard seats There is only 1 lever on the left hand side of drivers seat which raises and lowers it, and no levers at all on the passenger seat I thought i remembered that on the 2002 model there were two small handles under the front edge of the seat that lifted and this allowed swivel, but i may be wrong

Guys, i currently have a Galaxy 2006 Mkll Zetec 115TDi and previously had a 2002 Model of the same spec On the 2002 model the front seats swiveled round to face backwards or to face the door, but on the model i now have i can't get them to do this Am i missing something or just got plain stupid, or, does the 2006 model now Not have the swivel option Thanks

Battery Drain Problems
davewill replied to brawlski's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Another thing to check is the main cables from the alternator to the battery via the main fuse box. These are also known to breakdown in time causing a high resistance and possibly short through the alternator. Bleeno is correct, had this on my Diesel (2006 model) only a month ago Drained new Battery is 48 hours Replacement of cable fixed problem, (and lightened my wallet by -
Ford Galaxy - Easy To Get Into?
davewill replied to christine78's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
My mother who is 85 and last year had an op on her knee after a fall, is much happier getting in and out of the Gal, rather than my wifes BMW 1 series Shes only 5ft tall (my mother not the wife) but can still ease herself into the rear seats (will never travel in the front) and when it comes to getting out, just swivels herself and easliy puts both feet onto the ground Your mother should be fine -
OK, before i ask the question i know the answer from many of you would be "i'd do it myself" Unfortunately i a not competent to do the job myself so i will need to go to a garage Basically the Brake pad wear indicator has come on for the front pads at around 70k (first change) Kwik Fit are quoting

I can use my front fog lights with sidelights and also with dipped beam headlights so i can use mine under both scenaros (Mkll Zetec 2006 1.9Tdi) ;)

Pull down the fuse flap to the lower right of the steering column, all the fuses for lights, accessories etc are under there Have a look in your Galaxy owners maual as under the fuses section it lists whhich one is which Be aware though that not all fuses are in place in the fuse box, as the manual lists all fuses that "could" be in the car (i.e as in the Ghia model) and a Zetec or lower spec will not have all add ons so therefore will not have all fuses fitted Ia had the same problem with the power point in the boot, and changed the fuse to rectify the problem

Bought my 2006 Mkll 1.9 115TDi Auto, Gal 2 years ago with 24,000 on the clock Now have 67,000 on the clock, and on a recent service, the garage noted that the front brake pads were about 70% worn I didn't know the condition of the pads when i bought the car (i.e new or used), but i am surprised that they have done (as i am aware) 33,000 miles and still have 30% life in them. On my previous Mkll Gal (2002 115TDi manual) i was replacing front pads every 18 - 20,000 miles Any comments as to what is expected from front pads, and oh, i see from a Kwik Fit advert on TV, that if they replace your brake pads, they will replace them again free of charge (when they wear out) as long as you own the car! Anyone tried this service, and if so is it good value?? Cheers Dave.

Big Problem Any Ideas?
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Just had an update from the garage Apparantly there is a wire connection to the fusebox within the engine bay, and it is this that has become frayed and is shorting out causing the problem The guy says they need to order parts - total bill approx -

Guys thanks for the info The battery is brand new, it was changed last thursday after i had broken down and was told that the old battery had failed I am just waiting for a recovery truck to take me to the local Fraud dealer who can have it and do a thorough check I am sure it is a fault thats discharging the battery as the brand new one in now flat, hence the breakdown truck comng The comments on alternator/belts etc seem to fit the fault, although when i stuck my head under the bonnet just, and even though the car won't start i could hear a "whirring" noise that seemed to indicate something was continually on so don't know if this has anything to do with it?? Any more thoughts gratefully received -

Kev forgot to say that the recovery guy tested the alternator when he checkit it over and said the Alternator was running fine and sending the correct voltage/ampage (whatever it is) to the battery Don't know where the battery junction box is? Could you advise please -
Hi all 2 weeks ago i had the Cambelt changed on my 06 Mkll Gal at 60,000 miles A VW garage did it Next day car wouldn't start, recovery company came and said battery was flat Ran the car round for 10 miles and after this all seemed OK Last thursday car failed on main road, went into limp mode and warning lights came on dash (ABS, Airbag lights) Recovery attended again and said battery dead. Replaced battery and car started drove around 250 miles that day no problems Today warning lights came on again (ABS, Airbag and Battery) and strange ticking noise was coming from under dashboard. Got car home but after switching off and then trying to restart it there was no life and it wouldn't turn engine over. Another ting is that i have the 6 CD changer unit it the dash, and everytime i started the car over the last two days, the 6 CDs would all be loaded by the unit, as if it was the first time it had been switched on or it was doing a reset Never had a problem with the car in 3 years until this cambelt change, any thoughts as to whether it could be this that has started the problmes, or just coincidence. Anyone recognise the symptons and any suggestions? Thanks
