When i first got my Gal, the garage put two new front tyres on and they were at 32psi I didn't change these, and they basically were worn out at 10k miles I now run 38psi all round, and find this the right pressure for ride comfort, handling etc

Okay, it hot outside today (around 25C) Got into my car at lunchtime (2002 Zetec TDI), and the digital thermometer i have inside the car (bought from Halfords) showed the inside temp as 38.9C Drove the car for half an hour with temp setting on blue, fan speed 4, and centre vents, and place the thermometer in front of the centre air vents After i stopped (had been motorway driving) the thermometer was showing inside temp as 31.5C, and i was still very hot :) As i have the 40,000 mile service coming up, do you think that the aircon is knacked, needs topping up, or should i just open the windows wider I actualy turned the aircon off at one stage, and to me there was no difference in cool air, between on and off. I also noticed that at low speed in Town, the aircon seemed to be blowing warm air, and it was only when i got back to 70mph that it became cooler again I don't turn A/C off at all, so should i be doing in winter? Any comments most welcome before the dreaded service (next week) Thanks

Fitting A New Ford Badge To Front Grille
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Customising your Ford Galaxy
Thanks Guys, appreciate your help  -
This may sound pathetic, but i need to replace the Ford Badge on the front grille, with a new shiny one (that i have got) :( Whats the best way of getting the old one off (steam kettle)?, and then should i use a superglue to stick the new one back on Thanks

I also find that on my 2002 TDI Gal the front footwells are always cold If i have the air direction control on "feet only", hot air blows out of the main dashboard blowers. If i have it on screen, face and feet position, it comes out of screen mainly. I have found that if i put the heater position to "main dashboard blower", turn heat up to full volume, put fan on full throttle, and then after 10 seconds turn the dial to feet only position, i do get hot air blowing down at my feet. I tend to keep AC on all the time, so are you doing that or just using heater without AC.

Check Brake Pads Warning
davewill replied to Ivor's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Strangely enough i seem to have a similar problem Had my front pads replaced Nov last year (done about 4k on these) and had my back pads changed two weeks ago Got the car back after rear pads fitted and everything seemed fine Then earlier this week after driving for about 10 miles, the warning pads light came on again, with the infamous warning beep. Stopped the car soon after, turned off engine, checked around the wheels, nothing suspicious. Started up again and no warning light. Then everything was fine again for a few days, until yesterday when bingo, on it came again whilst i was driving. Rang the local fraud dealer who fitted the pads, and i,m taking it back in next week -

Engine Management Warning Light?
davewill posted a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yesterday, a warning light came on just after i started the car (Galaxy 2002 1.9tdi zetec) which looks like a coiled spring It flashed away until i had done about 5 miles then went off This morning it did it again, going off after about 10 miles I left the car for a few minutes, then stared up again, and back on it came flashing its yellow warning :P According to the manual, it is an engine management warning light The car has now done 35,000, and has not had the glow plugs changed. Is this warning anything to do with glow plugs, and should i get it into the local fraud dealer Thanks -
Why Is The Brake Warning Light Still On?
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've been away, so only just picked back upon this Masked Maruder i think you've hit the nail on the head! When i questioned my mechanic mate, it seems that the sensor wires on the original pads, had been interweaved with the brake pipes, thus making them difficult to remove. So to save time he cut them just above the pads, and then undid the connectors. :P Re fitted the new pads, and bingo the light stayed on. I think i am resigned to taking it to the local Fraud dealer and (hopefully) getting a reset. Its due a service soon so will ask at the same time Thanks for your help (got used to the ping ping and light on, now!) :P -
Thanks for your advice guys! Will now not waste time trying to change the wrong bulbs! Regards
-
Sorry to sound thick, but does that mean the dipped beam bulb and the full beam bulbs are seperate? I.e If i have been sent H1 bulbs, i will only see the benefit of brighter lights when they are on FUll Beam, and when driving on dipped beam things will be exactly the same as present.

Why Is The Brake Warning Light Still On?
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Ivor In my case the warning light came on, and stayed on. So everytime i started the car the light came on and a warning sound was made (similar to low fuel warning) It certainly makes you think about changing the pads as soon as possible. Only problem now is that bloody light and buzzer are still going off! -
Do i need the H4 BULBS OR THE H1? Ordered the bulbs from forddirect for my 2002 1.9 Diesel, and have been sent the H1 Bulbs I queried with Ford Direct and their response was These are the correct bulbs for the H1 12V 55W Bulb application Now i'm confused

Why Is The Brake Warning Light Still On?
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The rear brake pads do have sensors, but i know that they are only 50% worn, so i don't think that it is a rear brake pad warning -

Why Is The Brake Warning Light Still On?
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The old (and new brake pads) had a cable going from them to a connector block My mate unplugged the old one and then plugged the new ones back in after he had fitted them, but the warning light stayed on Does that help? Thanks -
My mechanic mate changed the front pads on my 2002 TDI on saturday Everything is fine, brakes work great However the brake warning light has stayed on Does this have to be reset at a fraud dealer? The warning light came on a few weeks ago, and i have been driving with it on until the new pads were fitted Any thoughts please Thanks :(

Is This A One Off Or Normal
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for your help I got a refund on the original pads, and my mechanic mate has ordered the correct ones -
I attempted to change the front pads on my 2002 TDI 1.9 on saturday Bought the pads from the garage and made sure they were for my vehicle Took the old pads off, but the new ones didn't match Got a friend round who is a mechanic, and we both went to the garage with the old pads After studying the brake pad book (with pictures), turns out that the pads i need are the V6 2.8 model Whats all this about then!! Any comments on whether this is normal or unusual?

 Hi I need to change the front pads on my 2002 TDI Zetec (warning light has come on) I am fairly competent, and would like to do them myself. Have bought the pads (with sensors) but would just like some advice on how to do the job A "blow by blow" account of procedures would be good, including tools i need Thanks
