are the central row of seats the same on the Mk3 as the S-max? We normally use a 2,2,2 formation (with the central right seat taken out for ease of access). I only found out the other day how poor the 'fold flat' seats are in the S-max but am assuming that there must be a way for removing the seat /rails somehow. dunno about that as we havnt tried to remove them, the rears fold flat completly. The seats in the SMAX and the Galaxy are "fold flat" and not removable Therefore if you want a 2+ 2+ 2 formation, you would fold the rear middle seat down and not remove it I have the Mk111 galaxy (facelift model - After Oct 2010) the 140 bhp Diesel model I think it is much better looking and more economical car than the Mkll 1.9Tdi i had for many years I am averaging 44-45mpg on a longish (100 mile) journey, usually with 2 or 4 adults in the car

I see that the facelift SMax (post Oct 2010) has the LED daytime running lights fitted as standard As the facelift Galaxy did not get these lights, just wondered if anyone had retro fitted a set to their car? If so what make of DRL's did you use, and was it an easy job??

Galaxy Titanium (mar 2010 Model) Roof Bars
davewill replied to BengalUK's topic in MKIII Technical section
Hi I have the Oct 2010 Gal Titanium edition which is the "facelift" model As mentioned before, this has "protruding" rails on the roof, as opposed to "fix points" for roof bars, which were on the 56 plate to pre Oct 10 plate models I looked at Thule and Halfords bars, but eventually went for the genuine Ford bars They were -
Worked it out in the end I had to re enter all my contacts as First name Last name, into the "first name" field on the Nokia Phone When i then bonded the phone with the car, the names all came up on the Phonebook screen on the dashboard as John Smith, Bob Jones etc etc etc Strangely i first entered my contacts as First Name, Last Name in the phone, but when i bonded they came up as Last Name, First Name in the car phonebook? Anyway, all synced and working now

Has anyone tried to bond the Nokia C3 Touch and Type mobile to the new Gal via bluetooth? I have just got this phone, and have attempted the bond The car "found" the phone and gave me a code to enter The car then recognised the phone via the dash display, however would not recognise the phonebook. It did recognise last calls made, missed calls etc, and named the callers from the phonebook, so i'm a bit confused as to why it wont display the phonebook names I have checked the Ford Mobile connctivity site, and the Nokia C3-00 and the C3-01 are both compatible, but the C3 Touch and Type is not listed Any help much appreciated

I have now done 8,000 miles in my 2010 Powershift 140 (facelift model) and the Auto gearbox is starting to frustrate me a bit When driving in "Auto" mode i get anoyed by the following things 1/ The engine revs up to 3500 revs between gear changes, especially 2nd to 3rd, unless you back off the accelerator when it changes up at around 2500 revs 2/ When driving motorway at say 70mph, and on cruise control, the car will be in 6th gear. If you cancel cruise control only for a second, and then re-engage, the auto box drops down to 5th gear and then changes back up to 6th. No speed has been lost, so why does this happen?? 3/ When coming to an island and breaking steadily the car slows OK, but if you then want to nip out before a vehicle approaching from the right arrives, there is no power for about a second, and then it kicks in and the car lurches forwards. 4/ If you stop the car and then select reverse, it takes about 2 seconds for reverse to engage, and then you can move. If you engage reverse and then try to move straight away, there is a big jolt and you lunge backwards I had a Mk11 Galaxy Auto previously, and actually think the Auto box in the Mkll is better than the Auto box in my Powershift model I am now tending to drive in "manual shift" mode as i can change gear and keep revs under 2000, and also get around 4 to 5 MPG better economy than in Auto Mode The car has not been in for its first service yet, do you think it needs the Software upgrade with the above happening?? Would welcome comments Cheers Dave

I had a strange occurance this week! Had checked the tyre pressures last week, and put 35 in both fronts On Monday i thought they looked low, so went to garage (different one) and checked. Only 30psi in each?? Checked tyres thoroughly for nails, screws, etc etc, but nothing to puncture at all So have now topped up to 38 all round. It feels a firmer ride, but hopefully tyre wear will be even and no pressure has been lost in any over the last few days

I managed to run out of fuel last night, and what a plonker i felt! The computer had got to 0 miles left in the tank as i reached my home Town, but thinking that meant there was another 1/2 gallon in the tank i didn't fill up immediately. Did a couple of trips into Town and home then took my son to Football training 2 miles away. On way back home the car chugged and stopped, and i knew i was in trouble. It had adone approx 5 miles after the 0 miles left came on the computer. Got a mate to bring over a can of diesel, but then couldn't get the fuel in as the "safety" filler cap wouldn't open with the plastic funnel on the fuel can. Rang another guy i know who came over with a plastic funnel, and said "you should have one of these in the car". "Do i"? i said lookly blankly at him on the side of a dark road. Anyway, with Ford plastic funnel in place, diesel went in OK, and car started up This morning i checked in the car, and under the rear seat floor panel next to the compressor, was the said funnel Took my mates funnel back to him with big apology, and i now owe him a few pints!! So this message is just for any one else like me, who stupidly runs out of fuel, make sure you have the plastic "ford funnel" in the car, or if not get one! Alternatively take note of the mileage left on the computer, and when it says "0" it means "0"!!!

2.0Tdi 2010 Powershift Titanium Galaxy. 5000 miles on vehicle. ESP Update!!!!! Turned off the ESP on a journey i did yesterday and reset average MPG and average MPH on computer, before Journey Telford - Bracknell 150 mile total and only me in the vehicle M54 - M6 - M42 - M40 - A404 - M4 - A329(M) Bracknell Town Centre Drove in Powershift mode, no higher than 2000 revs on journey, no faster than 70Mph on motorways and used cruise control as much as possible (approx 70% of journey) Average MPH 62 Average MPG 42.4 I thought it would be better than this?? Could a Ford Dealer be able to check on MPG and consumption???
-
On my 2010 Mklll (2.0Tdi Titanium) i have an "average MPG" setting and an "instantaneous MPG setting" The average setting stays forever until you manually re set it, and instananeous gives just that, with no memory function The computer also shows average MPH (once again stays forever until manual reset) I know what you mean about the 2 "options" on the Mkll as i had one before the Mklll, but on the Mklll i believe the above is all you get Is that what you think you have??
-
Turn ESP off eh!! I'll give it a go and see if it improves my MPG

I have had my 2010 2.0 diesel 140 Powershift model for a month now and done about 1000 miles (it is 3 months old and had 3000 miles on when i got it) I have tried driving it as carefully as i can (in terms of right foot power) and have managed 38.6mpg on a 50 mile A road and Motorway journey using cruise control as much as possible. Around Town the average is about 32mpg at the moment Its certainly not as good yet as my old 2006 Mkll 1.9Tdi 115 Auto Gal, so i hope the PCM quickly learns my driving style and gives me more MPG As an update to my mail above I drove the car in "powershift" mode (i.e as a manual) on a 70 mile journey that included A roads, Motorway and Town centre I never let the car get above 2000 revs even on the Motorway (70mph = 2000 revs) At the end of the journey i had averaged 44.8mpg according to the computer So therefore i believe that if driven in powershift mode, a greater MPG can be achieved than in Automatic mode, mainly because in Auto mode the revs are higher before the auto box changes up

Thanks "Insider" When i checked the presuures of the tyres they were indeed 32psi all round, so i can only assume they came from a garage like this I will adjust to make them as you suggest
-
Book says 32 psi all round if not loaded up (17" wheels) but to me that seems a bit low I know Fords are the experts, and there must have been loads of testing to establish 32psi as optimal, but it just don't look right to me
-
Just wondering what tyre pressures you run your Mklll Gals on? I have the 2010 2.0Tdi 140 Titanium with 17" wheels, and mostly there is just me in it Havnt even checked what the tyre pressures are on the car, but when i do wanted to know others recommendations Cheers Dave

Sorted!! Went and bought the "official" Adapter/Audio cable from Frauds P/NO 1529487 and it worked straight away Obviously the new Gal doesn't like "non ford stamped parts"!!

Hi Guys I have just signed off the Mkll forum after being there for 5 years, as today i have picked up my "new" (3 nmonth old) Mklll 2.0Tdi Titanium edition Sorted out Bluetooth and phone no probs, but cant get ipod to play I have plugged a male to male aux cable into glovebox (my wifes cable that works fine in her BMW) and then into Ipod (touch) but the ipod is not recognised within the Aux devices on the dash panel. Then plugged in USB cable from glove box to ipod,(as well as aux cable) and it recognised the Ipod. I can see playlists, tracks, etc etc and choose track, but none will play. Display on ipod says aux connection (i think) I have tried using just USB cable and same applies, can see ipod but it wont play I am missing something very simple, or do i need one of those "splitter cables" that have male jack, USB into one ipod "flat connector"? My first post on Mklll forum, hope someone can help Regards Dave

Well guys (and girls), after being part of this forum for the last number of years, and owning a couple of Mkll's for 7 years, i have finally traded in the last one, and gone for a Mklll 2.0TDi Powershift Titanium model Looks stunning in Moondust Silver, and loads of bells and whistles with the DAB radio, Bluetooth etc etc Thanks to everyone on the site who has answered questions/queries for me in relation to my Mkll's and hopefully the Mklll bods will be equally as helpful when i get there Cheers all, and best wishes Dave

Guys and Girls i have now decided to sell the Gal, but desperately need a rear nearside seat in the pattern below, to tidy up the old bird. The original seat has been folded forwards but the plastic lift button on the middle seat has broken, thus creating a rip in the back of the seat. So, if anyone has a near side rear seat in this pattern and wants to sell, (or even the rear pair) please reply and i will probably be interested Thanks Dave

Flippin heck Seatkid i hope not!! Not had any remap or tuning done on car Only work done was the Run On Pump replaced, and that caused the Aux Heater to fire back up as it was not working before, as the pump was knack'd Filled the expansion tank up yesterday afternoon, did around 20 miles last night, checked this morning and it hadn't lost a drop so its got me stumped Guess Monday in the garage will reveal all!

Hi Dave I had a similar problem with a skoda earlier in the year, no signs of a leak, so I dreaded the worse, checked the oil, and no oil in the water, but if I drove less that 60mph did not seem to loose any, but got on the motorway and 70 mph or more, then it just drank it, but no sign of any water leak. I eventually took it into the dealers (I had a warranty) and they traced the leak to the radiator, it leaked but because it was hot, it just evaporated, and just to mention no difference on the temp gauge, so new Rad and all is fine. Might not be your problem, but worth a check if you are still having problems. Radiotwo Used the car again last night after checking coolent level was OK Did about 15 miles each way on journey This morning no coolent in "expansion tank" again, and no coolent on the ground under the car I checked the dipstick and lovely black oil on this, with no sign of water infestation Have booked it into garage on Monday for check Hopefully it is losing water rather than using water So over the last 3 months i have had problems with run on pump (replaced), Aux Heater not working (then started again after run on pump replaced)rear wiper likes -5c as it works, but doesnt like +5c or when it rains as it doesnt work, puncture, loss of power (getting worse)and it has had a major service!!! Anyone want to buy an 06, 1.9Tdi Auto, 90,000 miles in very good condition??

Last Saturday after starting up the Gal, i got the "check coolant" warning light with a big STOP sign. I opened up the bonnet and sawa that there was no coolent in the "expansion bottle" Topped up with about 2 pints of coolent Used car Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday with no problems, then this morning same warning appeared again, and no coolent in "expansion bottle" Took to local garage who did a quick check. Topped up expansion bottle and let it run for 5 mins. I then drove the car to Birmingham and back (around 45 miles each way) Temp guage was normal (90) all the way. When i got back checked expansion bottle and no loss of water at all, it was the same level as when it was topped up in garage So any ideas as to where the coolent is going?? I would have thought if there was a hose leak i would see dripping fluid underneath, and there is nothing, or, if the car was using water the performance would be poor, which it is not The only work i have had done on the engine is the replacement of the "run on pump" but that was in October Advice gratefully received (as usual)
