Guys, thanks for your input I,ve just taken the car for another run, and then checked the small output pipe under the passenger side of car. It is stone cold. The engine gets up to normal temperature on the gauge and the cars runs fine Its a MK2 (2002) TDI I am in Telford in Shropshire if anyone in near me Thanks again, look forward to more comments Dave

Don't know I'll go and run engine for a bit, and check Thanks

Ok, i know this is probably an Aux heat problem, but a bit of advice before i contact the Fraud dealer would be appreciated. Drove to work this morning on a 10 mile journey with outside temp at approx 2c Car temp warmed up as normal, but no heat inside car from A/C (basic A/C not climate control) No sound of jet engine, but no smoke billowing out either Took car out at lunchtime, and same again, just cool air coming out of vents Would you think this is an Aux heater failure, or is there something else i should be checking Thanks ps If it is Aux heater, how much should i expect to pay to get fixed?

Has Anyone Else Experienced This?

No i don't have climate control, just the standard air con that comes on the 2002 TDI Zetec model -
The heater in my Gal has a mind of its own. When i drive and have the heater (AC) on, i usually have the direction of air flow to the windscreen or on my feet, and the heat control somewhere in the middle. If i stop the car, and then return to it shortly after, and start up, the airflow immediately starts coming out of the dashboard vents, and the air it blows out is hot - why? ;) To stop this i have to turn the temp control to hot, turn the air flow direction to the vents, and put the fan speed to max. I then get very hot air blowing in my face for 10 seconds or so, but after this short time i can turn the temp control back down to medium, and the direction back to my feet or the winscreen, and everything is then fine Has anyone else had or is having a similar experience, and if so whats causing it ;) ps Gal 1.9tdi Zetec

:D :D Car booked in for a service today 60,000 Left home this morning to drive to garage, then stopped at traffic lights. First gear engaged, move forward, then bang grrr grrr, no traction! :D Stuck in the middle of a busy road going nowhere Managed to get help to push car to pavement, then awaited recovery Taken to local fraud dealer Long and short is drive shaft knackered, and

My drivers seat has worn to a hole in exactly the same position. The reason for this is that i always keep loose change (i.e money coins) in the back pocket of my work trousers. Therefore when i get in or out of the car, the coins rub against the padded part of the seat, and thus it wears out! I've been trying to locate a drivers seat for months to buy, (its that diamond pattern cloth in grey, and the car is silver) but can't find one anywhere

Not the rears Had those done only 8000 miles ago

Just out of interest. How many miles would you expect to get out of a set of front brake pads? My warning light is back on again (2002 TDI) and i have done approx 20,000 miles on this set. Is this normal, or are my size 11's too heavy on the old pedal

I know ther are a lot of posts about this, but my problem might be different:  Rear Washer leaking! When i put the rear washer on, water drips down into the footwell from behind the glovebox. Other posts i've seen suggest removing the foot scuff plate for water in the footwell, but as mine is dripping from behind the glove box, i assume the leak is somewhere up in the bulkhead Any ideas what i need to take apart, to try and find the broken or split tube  Any links to pictures on what to do would be appreciated Thanks

I have changed the Headlight and main beam bulbs for higher intensity ones, but havn't done the sidelight ones yet. Which type of bulbs do i need to replace the standard sidelights? This is on a 2002 Gal facelift model Thanks

OK, its Saturday night, just about to go out in the old Gal, when i noticed the infamous engine management light had come on, and yep, no brake lights :) Rang up the local Fraud dealer first thing monday morning, and got it to them for 11.00am Rang back at 5pm, to be told "we can't find a fault with it, the brake lights work OK" Bemused i checked, and indeed the brake ligts did come on. Left the garage, and got no more than two miles down the road when the warning light came back on, and of course no brake lights again. Rang up again, and said my bit to the service manager, who said OK bring it back first thing in the morning. The problem was that i had to have the car back by 10.30 that morning, as i had a pre arranged appointment. Dropped it off at the dealers (10 miles fom my home, and no brakelights :) ), saw the service manager, established the brake lights did not work, and explained i had to have it by 10.30 (and feared the worst :( 10.20am got a call to say it was ready, and as i walked into the service dept, wa met by the manager, who handed me the keys, and said have a good day No cost at all (it is still just under warranty), no paperwork, but working brake lights :) So the old dealer came good (for a change)

Damned Headlight Screw!
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the advice guys I did the job by removing the whole headlight unit,(manuafactured a long star screwdriver myself) and then unclipping the back cover. Only took 10 mins per light However upon reading other posts past and present, there seems to be a consensus, that it is easier to just unclip the back cover (Don't forget i've got a Mk2 TDI) Now i have done the Main Beam bulbs, i want to do the dipped beam headlights Who recommends which bulbs to use to get the "best possible light increase" (and legal) Thanks -
Ok, simple job, i just want to replace a headlight bulb in my 2002 Gal Can undo 3 of the screws (hex nuts) but havn't got a screwdriver long and slim enough to get at the bottom corner one B) and therefore cant slide the headlight unit out Any idea where i can get one from Thanks

:) :( Got the Gal back from its 40,000 service, but most importantly they've fixed the air con. Service, Cam Belt change, Re Gassing + Labour cost
-
Basically the air con is not working, warmish air coming out of it The car needs a 40,000 service, and is still under warranty I contacted the dealer to arrange the service, and said the air con was not working They said they will test it, but if it is short on gas, they will re gas it before they can test the condenser etc They will charge for the re gassing to do the test Thanks
-
Think i have to have my 2002 1.9TDI re gassed for an aircon problem. What should i be expecting to pay for the priviledge.
