  1. Peter, you are a star - at least it will allow me to definately eliminate or otherwise the TMAP - I'll send it back the following day - Oh and SeatAlhambra, will get your old MAF off to you this week... Mant thanks to you both - will keep you all updated.. Mike
  2. Peter, fancy lending me your "pefectly good" TMAP...... Mike
  3. Car only done 41k, full history, don't think its anything to do with the chip, as it only increases fuelling and not boost... I drive my car quite hard, no tootling for moi!!! It doesn't use any oil - I think it just may be duff... Will get a new one ordered - when I find a good price.... Anyone do better than the
  4. Yes, and no... Ran fine for a couple of days, and then same - took out sensor and cleaned it again, and been fine since yesterday.... Mike
  5. Peter - did you replace your TMAP? An update? Mike
  6. Lol - Do we have a colour and a pic??? Any options? Mike
  7. Prob easy emough to fit... But do you really want MORE induction noise??? Mike
  8. Does anyone offer this service for girlfriends???? Mike
  9. Usually, the first grinding is where the backing of the pads is touching the outer (unworn) rim of the disc.. The more worn the discs, the earlier this will happen.. I can even be way before the warning light comes on.. As long as you replace the pads, there will normally be no probs, as the thicker friction material will move the backing away from the lip - I use it as an early warning reminder! Mike
  10. Hi, Boost Pressure control valve SHOULD slick, as it is pulsed to control boost.. However there is no way it could be causing problems starting, as even if the turbo is knackered, the motor should still start.. Mike
  11. Short update... Been to Fraud this morning, they want
  12. Peter - Any chance of a copy of that cd?????? Mike
  13. I knew it!!!! Gonna get myself one tomorrow!!!!! Thanks for all the input Peter and SKid etc... Bloody Fraud...
  14. Peter, apparently T-MAP says it all... Temperature and Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor...... PS you can get me on MSN if you have it... mike@kitchendream.co.uk Mike
  15. I am sure I have read a post on here showing a protector that can be bought from Seat garages for a low cost.. Do a search?? Mike
  16. Peter, mine looked like that the last time I had it out... gave it a quick squirt with cintact cleaner (all I had to hand) but ni change... I wonder if as stated the thing is "gunked" up... Maybe there is oil in the sensor airway, and it causes a delayed reaction from the pressure sensor - by which time you are overboosting, and it kills the boost?? I've thought it could be the T-MAP for a bit now, did you get a price on yours? Mike
  17. Hey Pacific Green... What's up??? Didn't see you posting in this thread... But no, it's not a private club, nd allthe info is there for all to see... Take a chill pill!!!! Mike
  18. Peter, I have replaced the boost control solenoid on mine, and it made no difference whatsoever... Whereabouts are you as you can borrow my old one which is working fine to test... I really am thinking Tmap on this, as SK suggested, if it has drifted in a + way it could be telling the ecu "too much boost" and shutting down the turbo via the Boost Control solenoid... I am tempted to go and get a boost gauge to check actual readings, anyone got any idea what max boost should be? I have heard around 18psi?? Mike
  19. Brian - man/auto DOES make a difference, i'll have to root, but I had a link to a full listing... gimme until tomorrow as I am in the middle of planning 3 jobs lol.. Mike
  20. Peter / Seatkid, have a look at my last post in the thread SK quoted above http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...ST&f=62&t=5921# It shows how to check if the actuator is working ... Mine seems to be ok... I am tempted just to go and buy a T-MAP for the hell of it - Anyone got a price on it? Mike
  21. When I checked my level - Prior to the new box, I got my fluid from VW, just over
  22. Do a search, and I have definately posted the recode procedure and numbers from when I did mine.. Mike
  23. Seatkid, yes, if you buy Key Com, it will unlock the full software, unlike the cheaper ones that only allow it to act as shareware.... I have the Key-Pro which has been fine, and allowed me to activate cruise, trip computer and selective unlocking amongst other things. Mike
  24. Steve - depends on the age, mine was an 03/53 with the multiplex wiring.. Mike
  25. Just a quickie - Be grateful you don't have a Citroen Picasso, as if you swap the radio on those - the car will not start until the ECU is reprogrammed!!!!!! And this is progres??? Mike
