As I said, it ain't the type of discs or the region setting, it is becauser you are trying to play NTSC discs on a PAL system. See if the displays have the option to change to NTSC... Mike

Life Expectancy Of A V6 Galaxy
GSMGuy replied to danyoda1's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
I would reckin that any modern petrol engine, having been maintained properly should be good for at least a 1/4 of a million miles.... And possibly double that for a similarly looked after diesel... I mean, 15 years ago, a friend of mine was runnig an old Black cab - with an old Austin 2.2l diesel... way before the transit 2.5Di, anyway, he had run it for 12 years, nothing other than monthly oil changes.... Had done 3/4 million miles in it before it had to go, due to corrosion, as I remember, he sold the motor to another cabbie, prob still gong today! As a further example, last year my brotyher bought an Audi A4 TDi 130 sport -- 2001 with 140k on it and full history... Still ran like a sewing machine, even after he put 60k on it in a year... Sold it a few months ago for -
Yes and no... There are actually 2 sepate switching circuits insode the switch, hence the 4 wires in the multiplug... One operates the brakelights, whils the other controls the selector interlock and cruise disengagement... They can go 50%faulty, ie one works and the other doesnt... Causes the system to have silly faults like this, and when mine went the stealer said it must be ok as the lights are working... But it wouldn't release the interlock for the selector when the pedal was pressed... After replacing the switch, I metered it across the contacts... One pair was ok, the other wasn't.... Mike

I think the prob more than likeley is that the copied or pirate DVD's you are trying to play are NTSC, and the Visteon is set up for PAL.... It's nothing to do with the region settings, as most of the pirates will be region less. Mike

@ Chromedome - Hope you remembered to remove the HID's!!! I get about 30 mpg average from mine, but I do drive it hard, and all in town... If I do a long trip, I set the cruise to about 85 (3000rpm) and average mid to high 40's Mike

Is it definately the motor... Or is it just going slow?? If so, there may be a cheap (free) fix..... Do a search , that's what the button is for  Mike

Hmm, have you removed the top and bottom hoses and run water through the rad with a hose, just to eliminate a blockage?? Mike

Dulux, cheque arrived today, will post kit once cleared :P Chromedome is right about the voltage... They fire up at about 25000v, and then run at about 13000v! Ouch.. Mike

Slightly off topic, I was seriously considering a Toyota Lancruiser VX before I decided on the Merc, as apparently Toyotas reliability is legendary (never owned a jap car...) Drove it, liked it (2001 car....

Not at all, as I said I really liked my Gal, and did this poll to get some honest feedback.. When the new Gal comes out, I'll be at the front of the queu to have a look. Mike
-
81 views and 11 votes????? ffs, I sounded a bit like SKid then lolol!! Mike
-
MAybe I should edit the poll to read, "don't say all ok - except for the aircon, or the droplinks etc" If the aircon fails, or the drop links go early, then afaic, that is a fault that should not occur, and deserves a YES vote - come on, lets all be honest here, as I am after an honest picture.... If the facts say X has failed, then a YES vote should be ticked..... Mike
-
So theoretically BigJeeze, you have answered YES, because of your aircon? Mike

What they consider to be a non minor problem with their car, be it Alhambra, Galaxy or Sharan? I am talking along the lines of something that should not have gone wrong with a car of you'r cars age and mileage..... Just dong a bit of a fact find, please vote either way, even if you don't post..... Mike
