Does anyone know of a relatively easy location where you can pass a cable through from the engine compartment into the under dash area?? Looking to install my Snooper LaserStar, and it looks CRAMPED at the back of the engine - Was hard enough fitting to my XC90! Mike

Not caravans, but I do tow a great deal of towing, mostly twin axle trailers and cars. Just checked the rating plate on my cars towbar (2009 S-Max TDCi 143 Auto) and it states a nose weight of 90kg max - It's the factory fitted Westfalia detachable one.. I would have presumed your Mk3 Gal had the same rating at least? Mike

I wouldn't have thought an additional 10kg would make any difference at all.. Mike

Shame on you all - a new member too... I have advanced BT on my S-Max, and it works like a charm - But didn't initially for my OH... It would recognise the basic commands, ie "dial number" "climate" "temperature" etc, but not the stored names - Simple soloution was to have her store the same numbers in her own voice, now works like a treat for both of us, even though we have stored a few of the same no's twice.. Personally, I am pretty disappointed with the audio quality in my 09 S-Max Titanium (DAB high end, apparently with "premium" speakers according to Etis) Coming from my XC90, which had the optional Dolby Pro Logic set up, with TWO subwoofers in the rear compartment, the sound was FANTASTIC, even if the FM reception was crap.... Thinking about a sub to go in the rear underfloor compartment, as it's the Bass that I am missing most... Anyone done this? The fitted speakers seem to handle the power and mid/highs fine, so a nice sub should sort me out! Mike

Cheers for reply, have been doing a bit of digging, and it looks like my car already has the high spec BVM (Bluetooth Voice Module) So it could be as simple as just fitting the additional USB connector - According to this page: http://www.fordmondeo.org/forum/showpost.php?post/1918058/ Am going out to check software version on my car now.... Firstly, do we have an "S-Max" sub forum, I can't see it if we do?? Secondly, picked my car up earlier, and loving it - But have a question, that prob relates to the Gal too.. Car is a 2009 Titanium X S-Max, with the DAB single slot Sony CD and Converse+ Instruments... It has a 3.5mm aux audio input in the glovebox, but no USB input, for Ipod and such like (yes, I know I can use the 3.5mm, but I want "full" control...) So, is it possible to either fit the USB input myself, or have it fitted and enabled by Ford, so that I can have full Ipod functionality, ie display in my Dash? I presume that it's just a case of fitting the socket, and possibly enabling the option, similar to when I retro fitted cruise and trip computer to my 2002 Galaxy TDi? Mike #oh, and does anyone have a source for the 13pin towing socket plug to twin 7 pin sockets? My car has the optional detachable towbar, but apparently they don't come with the lead as standard???

Lol @ Gregers.... Getting impatioent now.... Another "slight" downside is that the Dealer is over 250 miles away, and it's a FOUR hour car journey to get there, or SEVEN hours by train!!! Think I will be asking for a delivery quote, as it's gonna cost me close to

There are a few error codes, not sure of the numbers, but basically - Glow plug open circuit, no fuel flow/pump, optical flame sensor problem and overheat and or over/under voltage. \mike

Jeez, still an active thread after over 5 years :D Mike -
Lol, was actually looking for a Galaxy, as I prefer the extra room, but finding a high enough spec was a 'mare - Then I decided to order a new one, but they - get this, would not sell me one for delivery before the new plate!!! They wanted to hold back regestering it, even though my factory order could have been here end June/beginning July!! So I decided to put the finger up to the Dealers, and go used (What Dealer can afford to let an order with a RRP for

Ok, well - After getting rid of the Gal and then going through hell with the Merc ML270, it's been a refreshing 3 years/135,000 miles with the XC90, and now that too has gone on to patures new... So, as I sit here, twiddling my thumbs and awaiting delivery of my new car, hopefully sometime next week - Though I'd pop in and say hi once again, seeing as said new car is in fact a 2009/59 S-Max TDCi 140 Titanium Auto in Hypnotic Silver with a SHED load of extras :) Such as, detachable factory towbar, Full Napoli Perforated Leather, Xenons, DAB etc etc... So looks like I am back... Sort of Mike

Regardless of what anyone says, modern diesels, are DESIGNED to operate at speeds upto and including max revs for whatever period of time is required, PROVIDED they are maintained as per the manufacturers service schedules... The problems come when either, those limits are exceeded, or maintenance is not carried ou. Redlining it shouldn't cause harm, although it may reduce longevity due to the accelerated wear rates at proportionally higher speeds... Just my 2p Mike

Ivor, got your PM and replied! Mike

Bit more info needed here... Is this a 4 or 5 speed trans, and is it the "tiptronic" type?? Just so I know which box it actually is.. Cheers Mike

This story occurred on Melbourne radio recently. One of the FM stations has a competition where they ring someone up, ask them three personal questions, ring their spouse or partner, ask them the same three questions, if the answers are the same, the couple win an overseas holiday. Last week the competition went like this: Presenter: Hey its XXX-FM, do you want to play the game ? Brian: Yeah, sure. Presenter: O.K., Question 1 - When was the last time you had sex? Brian: Ha Ha, well, about 8 o'clock this morning. Presenter: And how long did it go for Brian ? Brian: Hmmmmm .... about 10 minutes. Presenter:10 minutes? Good one. And where did you do it? Brian: Ohhhh , I can't say that. Presenter: There's a holiday to Bali at stake here Brian ! Brian: O.K. ... O.K. ... On the kitchen table. Presenterand others in the room - much laughter). Good one Brian, now is it O.K. for us to call your wife ? Brian: Yeah, alright. Presenter: Hi Sharelle, how are you ? Sharelle: Hi. Good thanks. Presenter: (Explains competition again) We've got Brian on the other line, say hello. Sharelle: Hi Brian. Brian: Hi Sharelle. Presenter: Now Sharelle, we're going to ask you the same three questions we asked Brian and if you give the same answers, you win a trip for two to Bali. Brian: Just tell the truth Honey. Sharelle: O.K. Presenter: Sharelle, when was the last time you had sex ? Sharelle: Oohhhh, noooooo. I can't say that on radio. Brian: Sharelle, it doesn't matter. I've already told them. Sharelle: O.K. ... About 8:00 this morning before Brian went to work. Presenter: Good, nice start ! Next question. How long did it go for Sharelle ? Sharelle: (giggling) About 12, maybe 15 minutes. Co-Presenter: That's close enough ... Brian was just being a gentleman. Presenter: O.K. Sharelle, final question. Where did you do it ? Sharelle: Oh no I can't say that. My mum could be listening. No way, no. Presenter: There's a trip to Bali on the line here. Brian: Sharelle, I've already told them so it doesn't matter anyway.. just tell em. Sharelle: Ohhhh .... alright .... Up the a$$ ! Confused Over Solenoid
GSMGuy replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
MArtin, not sure if yours has a boost pressure control vale, as it's a conventional turbo, whereas my old 115 had one as it was variable geometry. On yours I think a traditional wastegate assy controls boost.. Oh, and when I had a simialr prob on mine, Fraud diagnosed the valve as at fault.. So I bought and fitted it....
