  1. If you have a USB VAG-COM, the sequence is... plug usb lead into PC, and wait for it to be recognised, then start VAG-COM, then pludg into socket with ign on, and run test and save.. Mike
  2. Lol, where did ya dig that up from?? Do they have a PD version?? Mike
  3. Apparently, the oil is mixed with the refrigerant, therefore when emptying and vacuuming all the old refrig out, presumably the oil comes too.. Mike
  4. Slightly off topic, but mine has gone in to get the 'box swapped again today.. Saw them regassing a car in there - I wasn't aware they did A/C.. Anyway few little hints dropped, and after finishing my box tomorrow, he is going to empty, vac, flush and refil with new gas and oil.. All FOC as a goodwill gesture :) Result... Only hope the box is ok this time :) Mike
  5. This is the one.. http://www.navman-europe.com/images/product_main_image_AA005700.jpg More info HERE Mike
  6. Mark, just for future ref, please keep all posts on the same item, in the same thread.. prevents clutter  ie... http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...wtopic=5169&hl= Mike
  7. Disomaniac, the PCM is located behind the dash.. The auto Box Ecu is located on the NS inner wing, next to the battery. It's more likely to be the Jatco ECU (box) than anything else.. I know someone who has a fully tested one of these, and may sell it if asked... Would need to know the part no of the faulty one though, as there are a couple of variants. Mike
  8. Just in case anyone's after a navman - was in Costcotoday, they have the IC610 for
  9. Replacement of the ECU is an easy swap job, but they aren't cheap..
  10. Paul, if you remember, it went in for a full recon, but not been right since - been back in 3 times, for new valve chest, new seals, and an ECU swap on Fri gone, stilll same, so h has bought in another complete box plus Torque converter, and is rebuilding it totally as we speak - car going in on monday for full box swap - so basically everything... Box, ECU, Loom, Diff etc willl have been changed... TBH, they have been really good, looks like my orig box was just beyond repair - at least they have bent over backwards to put it right, been really apologetic, and every time it has been back, I have been loaned the MD's own personal car... So can't complain, and would hapilly recommend them... Mike
  11. Cheers guys.. Mike
  12. On my 2002 Zetec (7 seater) If I slide the 3 middle seats forward on their runners, and the rear two right back, I can then fold the backrests of the rear 2 seats down, and tip them forward, to give more luggage space... My question is - should they lock into the upright position, once folded forwards? As mine don't, and if there is nothing in the back, and I accelerate sharpish, they tip back over and lock themseles back into their mounts... On my Picasso, once I had folded the 3 rear seats forward, they locked into place, and there was a little lever to pull in order to release them... Are they all like this?? Mike
  13. As MM says, if it's happening all the time, there is defo a problem, and it'll be vacuum/servo related.. Mike
  14. The hiss is normal, if it's happening as you release the pedal, it's merely the vacuum release valve, which the pedal rod passes through, relesing the vacuum, and letting fresh air in from inside the cabin, so at to allow the diaphram inside the servo to return to it's neutral state. If it's gotten noiseier recently, it could well be that the sponge air filter, or the rubber boot covering it (again around the pedal rod) has deteriorated of fallen off! I wouldn't woory about it, as operation sound normal enough. Mike
  15. John P, please post your results... I have an apparently fully functional system, just doesn't seem to get as cold as I'd like, got 10 degrees in the vents with an outside 20 or so, with an expensive Fluke temp gauge and air probe.. Car is 3 years old, 50k so possibly may have lost a little... On another subject, sort of... Has anyone tried the "ice cold" top up available on one of the given links? Claims to reduce the air temp by another 15 degrees.... I had an a/c service done on a 406 Exec TD I had about 5 years ago, and the told me they had added a "booster" to the a/c It was great!! I could breathe towards the centre vents and get mist on my breath, if I had the vents on my hands too long I used to get numb fingers!!! Bloody proper aircon... Mike
  16. 33 and 30 sound dangerously low for such a heavy car as the gal... Mike
  17. FWIW, I run my rears @ 38 and fronts @38 also, keeps the handling sharp, and less bumpy than having the fronts @ rec pressure... Done just over 8k on brand new front and rear tyres, and all wearing nice and evenly.. Mike
  18. My manual (2002 Tdi Zetec) clearly states for the 215/55 R16 (reinforced) : 41f 38r and for fully loaded 44f 49r Interestingly, for the same size tyres, but not reinforced the pressures are higher at 45f 41r and 48f 55r respectively.. http://img295.echo.cx/img295/2081/kd0094vf.jpg Mike
  19. Hi and welcome to our Forum! Hmmmm, tips and toys for a V6??? Tip; buy a fuel tanker to follow you... Toy; One of those wrist excercisers - for all that fuel pumping you will be doing!! Mike
  20. Can anyone who has a Sharan 115 Tdi Auto possibly tell me what code their 5 speed box is? ie, FBN, FBP, FBQ, FLX, FLY or FLZ?? Thanks in advance.. Mike
  21. Peteread, is yours a Manual or Auto - didn't think they made the 4x4 in an auto? Mike
  22. MM, the link works for me?? JKSpof, afaik the "range" seems to be missing on them all.. Weird since on my brother's 2001 A4 1.9tdi, the only thing he has is a "range" - no trip computer fitted... Mike
  23. AFAIK, the trip works fine, well it does on mine now I've turned it on! <_< Whether it is enabled or not depends on the trim level & options... But don't forget, it's not just a case of turning it on - you need to have the wiper stalk with the controls on it.. Easy enough to do though, why not do the Cruise control at the same time :) Global closure only works manually by turning and holding the key in the lock it can't be enabled on the remote - it simply isn't there.. The http://www.alientech.net/ window controller may or may not work... Needs a little research, but looks like a good idea.. HTH Mike
  24. No oil change is specified for the gal - which TBH is a joke, I'd get it changed at similar intervals to a cambelt.... Mike
  25. I for one would not rotate, a tyre will wear according to it's relation to the road... swapping around one that has worn to a certain angle could result in a LETHAL loss of grip, as it is used in a different angle to the road! Plus replacement of 4 tyres is more expensive... Funny how the people who recommend rotation are usually the tyre manufacturers or distributors.... Mike
