to my knowledge and IIRC from the parts lists there are three central locking/alarm units dependant on vehicle spec? so if the part numbers match then yes it should plug straight in with out any problem

Dash Door Open Lights?
mk2vr6 replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
well no actually mine doesnt have a under bonnet light :16: in their wisdom Chrysler removed it on the 2002 grand cherokee model although it is on my list of things to install, I did install one on my galaxy though and the bonnet catch worked fine on that thank you -
Dash Door Open Lights?
mk2vr6 replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
and why exactly would it need to? it's the great big thing that covers the engine bay up when closed and when open you cant see past it when your sat in the car! tbh if you cant see thats its open do us all a favour and take the bus :16: -
yet again local radio pipes up and is so off the mark it's unreal! :) the VR6 has an auto tensioner system and is none adjustable, ignore his reply :16: sound like either the belt is at the end of it's life or the tensioner are? either way both parts are fairly simple to replace, and easy to get check the tensioners pully is rotating? the bearings can seize and lock the pully! then the belt them wears down the plastic pully hence the noise and smell of burning plastics and the slack in the belt! worse case? alternator, ac compressor drive failures but start with the tensioner/belt set up and then work towards the big bills :) your aux drive belt tensioner set up

chemical reaction/corrosion due the battery acid! remove the battery and use a wire, water and baking soda solution to the clean it all off, allow it dry, use a good anti rust solution and repaint the tray with a good coat of hamerite etc

Dealer Refuses To Sell Me Ford Parts!

jeez dave, who dug you up? fordpwr not showing you the love :) so you pop in here? -
it's more like the valve block on the pump has failed? as one pump feeds both the front and rear washers, sounds like the valve has worn/blocked open slightly and is allowing fluid to flow to the front when the pump is running in reverse

original sizes for the galaxy were.. 195/65/15 205/65/15 215/60/15

Jaguar Alloys/tyres On Galaxy?
mk2vr6 replied to JohnR's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
IIRC their not obligatory in France but if you pass a blue road showing a wheel equiped with snow chains you must stop and fit them! failure to do so can result in a hefty 600 euro fine, your vehicle impounded and you haveing to go and buy an over priced set of chains before your are allowed to continue! when do you fit them? about five minutes before you decide to :D and remember the vehicles sold in these regions may run different sized tyres as standard to UK models so you may in some case find it difficult to get the correct size chains! I'm told BMW X5's, Porsche Cayennes, and Range Rovers are a couple of models where UK dealers have to get custom made chains for as the continental models run different tyres to our models with the lower profile sport tyres! you can always get a set from europaskilodge.co.uk and if you dont use them you get a large percentage of the cost back on their return or less if you use them! IIRC there are a few places that do this? also fill your tank on arrival at the resort, the fuel will have a better temp rateing and it will mean less condensation/moisture in your tank to freeze over night! remove your wiper blades DONT just lift them from the screen unless you want them tied in knots! ;) apre ski fun :P dont use the local screen wash! unless the stuff you have cant cope with the lower temps? it can strip the wax of your paintwork as its known to be a lot stronger than our stuff! reverse into parking spaces, it's easier to get out of the space as your drive wheels hopefully have less further to travel on the slippery stuff while you struggle to get out the space leave the car in gear or in park (auto) dont use the hand brake as it can freeze on! clear any snow from the roof of the vehicle before you drive off! in some regions it is a offence to drive with a heavy snow build up on the car as it can be a hazzard to other road users! plus it's heavy stuff! aprox 1kg per ltr so it will screw with the mpg and the handling and clear any snow build up from the the wheel arches when you stop, dont allow it to freeze solid in there as it can cause a few problems! and most importantly check to see if you are alllowed to park on the road side at night? snow ploughs dont stop for no one and have a habit of reshapeing parked car that get in their way :P -

open the lower glove box, release the retaining straps at either side, open it some more and pull it out of the pivot clamps, and there is the heater unit, the fan is located in the larger round thing right infront of you  release the retaining clip and rotate the unit anti clock wise to remove it...........have fun
-
and on the mk2 you get a dumb arse clock stuck in the middle of the dash!
-
remove the undertray and support the gearbox, or suffer.................
-
........ SOD OFF there we go a reply  yes the clock should light up tracking, worn ball joints duff shocks? major problem? depends on where it cuts out on you? half way across a level crossing when the 9.20 express is bearing down on you! then yes :o

Door Open Light On Dash Help
mk2vr6 replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
since when did the wires to the door pin switches run through the doors? more likely to be the pin switch! they are a double pole switch and the interior light circuit and the idiot panel cicuits are two seperately switched circuits in the switch -
Auxilary Drive Belt, V6
mk2vr6 replied to snapper's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
to remove the aux drive belt you have to release the tension on the belt by winding a 8mm bolt? IIRC into the threaded hole on the tensioner to release the pressure on the belt and then the belt will simply slip off without the need to remove any pully shrouds -
