  1. just posting a couple of shots of a dead scooby engine :angry2: the crank shaft now has a two step offset taper on it and a triangular key way slot! the inner crank pulley that drives the cam belt has a two step key way slot where the woodruff key ate its way loose and took a bite of the crank shaft with it! not to mention the outer aux drive belt pully than is now a taper fit pully! tapered to fit what exactly we will never know! as its a totally different taper to the crank shaft! so today was spent sourcing a replacement engine, which I'm pleased to say was done and in the process a higher speced engine was found with an increase of 15/20 bhp :) so thats my week nights after work planned out for the next couple of weeks, old lump out, clean up the bay, remove the loom and ECU in readyness for the new lump/loom and ECU and a few nights cleaning up the new lump in readyness for slotting it in ;)

  3. remove the rubber intake hose from the throttle body and give the throttle body/butterfly valve a good squirt of carb cleaner, gently mop up the excess fluid/crap, open the valve manually via the cable pully and spray into the body, again mop up the excess fluid/crap replace the hose and fire up the engine to burn off any vapour and fluid left over, try not to exert any pressure on the butterfly valve itself! if you bend or distort it your screwed! but if you do screw it up I have a nice new shiny one stashed under the bed I could be possible persuaded to part with :D it would take a lot of persuading but I'm sure the mrs would let it go :lol:
  4. 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation: Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded...... trycleaning then reseting the throttle body, clear the codes, switch on the ignition but dont start the engine, dont touch the throttle pedal, leave the ignition on for a few minutes, you should then hear the throttle body motor going through its movement range and resetting its basic parameters or there is a way via vag com to do the above if that doesnt work!

  6. dont forget to take a long look in your rear view mirror, if you look long and hard enough you'll see the word that the rest of the world see's appear there on your forehead TOSSA
  7. you have to prise off the top cover and there is a fixing under there holding the handle to the shaft, undo that, pull the handle of the splines and relocate it where you want..... reverse the prodcedure etc to refit.....

  11. Off down to Saumur in just over three weeks, 534km in 4hrs 49mins according to the route finder! going to knock a few mins off that ;) speed cameras logged in the the Tomtom and on the paper map ;)

  17. well bully for you! if I was you I'd keep quite about it as you'll piss off all the other mk3 owners that do have problems! the mk2 may be a shed in your opinion but it had real seats for adults not deck chairs that come with a free pair of DVT socks :lol:
  18. standard setting is no beep but apparently you can switch this option on, in the settings if you have vagcom

  20. loads of camping at the circuit, just hope the weather stays fine as the last it rained for the F1 gp people had to wait till the local farmers could drag them out of the camp sites due to the mud! but if your cant get a pitch I know someone in the village that rents out their garden to campers at gp time :P
  21. stick the filler nozzle in upside down, handle upwards and twist it around till you find the optimum position that allows full flow, mine was with the trigger/handle pointing towards the top of the rear hatch :blink: it then allowed full flow on the pump steaming up? run the ac and as stated swap out the pollen filter and clear the scuttle drains, apart from that dont go out in the rain!
  22. undo the bolt on the bracket that holds it onto the engine and pull the dip stick out of the block, it wont just lift out though it may need a bit of help! liberal use of a hammer :ph34r:

I play as you already well know ;) now on three of the UK svrs under different names, tribes and alliances ;) todays first message of why are you attacking me whats your problem? how come all of X seems to be attacking me all of a sudden? i really would like to know why because frankly its annoying to think that just because your the top group, isnt so that you can just bully everyone else is it surely? surely its so that your more of an example to all of us rather then being completely harsh and unprovokingly destructive. hope you understand my point completely.   25. could also be the sensors on the oil cooler/filter block? the seals on these shrink with age and weep like crazy! cheaper and an easier option to start with! best to clean off the oil and see where it's coming from before you pull the filter housing off :lol:
