i would recheck the wire for any breaks. -
does the key start the car? if so this means 'YOU havnt lost the pats chip' which is a good thing, it does seem that it could take various attempts to reprogram the key to the central locking, follow these instructions, from the faqs in the tech section of the forum, http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=1485&st=0%EF%BF%BDentry9914 and welcome to the forum.

Ford Galaxy Electrics

hi and welcome to the forum, i think you will have to go hunting, within the car check under your passenger seat for your very own swiming pool,if so there is a pipe running to the back of the car(rear washer)that has probably come apart? your version still might have the ecu/alarm/central locking box there? if so have a search on the forum for this problem, been reported numerous times, iirc you might be luckey in taking it out and drying it? check the wires in all doors, including the rear hatch again. do your brake lights work?you will be amazed on the things that dont work if you require a new brake switch? take a look in the faqs in the technical section of the forum, lots of info posted there. -
hi welcome to the forum, no 1 this could be anything from battery to glow plugs? no 2 search thr forum for maf, lots of info.

i would contact your local trade and standard peeps(or what ever there called now)they are there to help you, once you have there backing, throw this into the argument and watch the dealer start to squirm, most do. mirez has posted very informative info, but here is a bit more, http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/sale-of-goods/your-rights-buying-second-hand-cars/ i too had to go down a very similar route as yourself, about 4 years back, posted all about it, in the end i threatened the dealer principle with the small claims court,a little info works wonders for your argument. BUT i had did have the law on my side,MAKE sure before throwing your toys out of the pram that you are 110%RIGHT. or they will fob you off. -
iirc under the sale of goods act you have 28 days to notify the dealer of ALL DEFECTS and iirc they are obligued to sort them out, dont be fobbed off with them saying this/that isnt covered under there warrenty. this is the law,plz do a search on this before you go jumping in with your size 10s,fore armed is fore warned, but a little bit of knowledge really annoys them:rolleyes:

Other Remote Key Programming
gregers replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
yes you can buy another and program it yourself to the central locking. yes try timpsons iirc about 8 quid to have the key cut. dealers or an auto locksmith with the correct software and leads will be able to program the new chip to the pats system. but beaware it might just be a clone of your old key they do. the dealers will defo be able to program all keys to the car,but at about
