  23. This site seems to be mostly people who take their car to the dealers or other mechanics to have work done. really? i think not, there are loads of members on here who own a mk 1,just because your post/thread hasnt had the answers your looking for doesnt mean its a problem that hasnt been asked before, try doing a search for your problem,it may mean delving into the guts of the forum by a few years, but most if not all problems have had an answer to it. this site has been around for a number of years now,and from the time i joined even then, the ethos of advice was to carryout d.i.y. only at the last resort does anyone take there car to a stealers. there are a lot of people on here willing to get there hands dirty to save there hard earned hence why forums like this exist.and to offer advice, there are certain things that have advice given for a mechanic visit rather then diy, like brakes etc and any other major safty equipment, especially if the poster has never done anything like this before. ive watched numerous people change brakes/disks/fluid but personally would never tackle a job like this so i would go to someone more knowledgable then myself. if you havnt found the faqs in the tech section of the forum then take a look plenty of info on how to get your hands dirty.
