welcome to the forum,ive moved your post. the better half's smax was terrible,where as mine is a lot better. the difference is about 85k miles. :rolleyes: im thinking as your mileage increases the mpg will get better? i can get high 30s around town in mine her's was something like late 20s to early 30s. saying that her vw tiguan already is getting high 30s around town. a decent locksmith will be able to clone the key you have, an auto locksmith should be able to program your new key.cost unknown dealer will be able to do this,cost HUGE AMMOUNTS.

thought it was the case of moving the seats fully forward then rotate.

is this a mk3 i think it is?? if so youve posted in the wrong section of the forum. it may be clock spring or a lose wire under the seats ??.

alternator pulley or tensioner or both.

it also depends on how many turns the cable is wrapped round the plastic spool,this is where you need 3 hands.

before you consider replacing this unit,have you followed the instructions which i think was done by seatkid?. iirc within the unit is a tiny fan that clogs up,once this was cleaned out everything was working. do a search or perhaps the link to the thread will be posted for you?.

have you TOTALLY checked the car,all nooks and crannies? behind driver and passenger seats there is a removable flap, also in the rear where the jack is placed have a search around these areas.
