  1. Hi. Suddenly, on my 2005 1.9 tdi Ghia Galaxy, when I pull the bonnet release catch in the driver's footwell, it doesn't pop the bonnet that first bit, to then allow the pushing in of the "Lever" in the front grill. I've managed to get it open eventually and have looked long and hard at the lock mechanism but just can't see what's not working correctly. I've removed the lock assembly so I don't get in this fix again but can anyone please tell me what to look for of how to fix this issue? Many thanks
  2. A very interesting point. Does anyone know if, being the owner of 2 x keys, can I re-code them, so that any "Other" keys out there would no longer work (Like I've done with the central locking remotes)
  3. Plus, the 6006 has the multichanger at your fingertips, instead of away in the boot. just found this though, for playing your MP3 player through your radio - worth a punt at under a fiver ! http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3321461/-/Product.html
  4. found the Mute wire "Location" on the 6006. It's on the yellow plug, 3rd hole down (Assuming the purple wire is the 1st connection) Just add your wire and you're off.
  5. Here's my two-penneth on the subject. I totally agree that in an accident, the dogs would become missiles and potentially kill a passenger or themselves, or either of the occupants sustain serious injury and I also agree that dogs do love their dens & cages if they are brought up using them regularly, so they would feel safe and secure in a cage. However, in my opinion (And incidentally, the Police and most other working-dog users), dogs in transit should be housed individually and in as small a cage as is "Comfortable" so the dog can stand, sit, lie and turn round, all for the same "Missile reason" in a crash. 2 dogs together will become missiles for eachother within a cage and at the end of the shift, safety in the accident that will "Never happen" has got to be the primary concern, in my world anyway. My own take on this situation would be to remove the 2 x back seats, make a template of the floor space, using the fixings for the removed seating, fix a plywood "Fitted boot liner" that you could then permanently fix the cages to (Or semi permanently using some sort of wing-nut / quick release system so you can remove the cages should you wish) You could weld or bolt some lugs to the cages and have some captive bolts coming through the wood from the underside, so you could simply use a wing-nut and a split pin to hold the cages down. before fixing the cages, I would buy and add one of these, to go between the cage and the plywood http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151010157920?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 and silicone round the bolt fixings so it's all water-tight. You'll then have a very safe, user-friendly canine transportation unit. B) I'd then remove the middle seat in row 2 so that's where the pram would lie, along with any other gear that will not fit in the remaining "Boot space" I'd then buy a roof box, in case the mother-in-law wanted to come along too ;) :P :o Hope you enjoy your new purchase and some of the ideas in response, give you food for thought.
  6. Job Done It is possible to have swivelling seats that have the DVD screens. All you need to do is re-route how the wires go from the seat to under it. Instead of them going through the cut-out in the plastic base plate, next to the seat runner, on the seats with DVD screens, the wires come down through a large gromitted (Made up word?) hole under your bum. I just passed them from there to under the front of the flimsy carpety cover (The one that hides money, McDonalds fries, lollypops, apple cores, pens and trolls when you drop them under your seat and they disappear) to where they plug in. there is plenty of loose cable to allow for revolving
  7. Job done :D I can confirm it's as easy as pie to do. All you do is swap the seat back and seat bottoms over from the respective mechanisms. No messing with seatbelt anchorages or anything. About a 25 minute job. Unfortunately, if you just swap the seatbelt anchors, the seat lifting lever will be in the wrong place to access it from the open door. Tools you need are: Cross head screwdriver Star-drive tools (3 different sizes needed) Snipe-nose pliers Rubber Gloves and a clothes peg. Method: Undo the cross head screws from the front of the plastic "Skirt trim" Flip out the round hole covers from the same skirts and remove the small star-drive bolt Watch out for the yellow "Trim fixing" half way down the skirt - carefully insert your snipe-nose pliers and squash to remove this pesky thing from the back Clip off the skirt. Next, remove the 4 x large star-drive bolts (2 each side) that hold the seat-back to the metal hinge area of the mechanism (Usually very tight and threadlocked in!) Flip the seat over and remove the 4 x brass colour star-drive bolts that hold the seat pad to the metal frame (In the 4 corners) That's it, you've removed all the upholstery. Next, you need to put the rubber gloves on and place the clothes peg on your nose before you attempt to prise out all the decayed McDonalds, sweets, fruit, human and dog hair and general rubbish that accumulates within. Swap over the mechanism (Or upholstery) from the other side's seat and assembly is the reverse. All good and works / fits a treat. Have fun
  8. When I say "Do black wheels work" I don't mean do they spin round, before y'all start  I mean, do they add to the look of the Galaxy or make it look nasty?
  9. I believe it's someone from an eastern European country
  10. Hi. My driver's windscreen wiper was about 5" short of vertical on the final part of it's sweep, meaning there's a huge part of the windscreen by the pillar that wasn't being cleared. Reading on forums, I decided that a strip & lube of the mech. was in order to sort out the problem. I duly followed the tutorial, the spindle almost fell out on the driver's side and took 30 mins of lube and working to get the passenger side spindle out. Plenty of wet & dry action, oodles of copperslip and re-assembled. Also I split all the ball-joints and greased them up for good measure. Fitted it all back together and an hour later (After a million wiper-off / wiper-on tweeks) I eventually got the wipers to sweep the screen without catching eachother, coming to rest in the right place but to my horror, the driver's wiper is still the same 5" short of a full wipe! (The passenger's does a full wipe, to parallel with the pillar) I really need the driver's wiper to wipe fully until it is parallel with the pillar but I just can't fathom out what's wrong. If I move the resting place of the driver's wiper, I can get it to do a full sweep but then the passenger's wiper jumps off the pillar (Over-wipes) Help please, it's sending me nutty(er)
  11. Hi. I just found that there is a Galaxy Cargo Net that some cars had from new, though mine didn't come with one :( , it's one of those things that I'd really use. I've seen the "Generic" ones on Ebay but they don't have the same HD hooks or even as many hooks as the Genuine one. Has anyone got one that they don't use? Would they like to sell it? thanks
  12. As usual Greggers, you thought right :D My wife can now put her feet up on the back seats and pass the beers from the back whilst I drive (And if I look to my left, I can watch the DVD that's playing on her headrest) Win, win ;)
  13. Hi. Somewhere on here, I've seen that you can modify the swivel front seats, so that they will swivel a full 180 degrees so you can face the back of the car (To make reversing easier  ) and I'll be darned if I can find it again! My seats have a stopper that only allow minimal swivel and I'm sure I recall there being a lug to cut off to enable the full spin but I can't see the lug (Or what is stopping the rotation). The post I'm thinking of had photos and was great - wish I'd bookmarked it! Can anyone advise how to do it please? Thanks
