yep seems so. very expensive to get a key from,but there are a few other ways.

there are repair kits on ebay.

if that is the part that is the culprit,then it may also need a new tensioner and belt? try gsf,seat,vw,or even fords,but i bet gsf will be the cheapest for the tensioner,iirc when i done mine vw was cheaper for the pully. i done mine in a couple of hours,but im a numpty so a mechanic with all the gear shouldnt take that long??

scorpio, i too am 6' and to be honest have no probs getting in and out of the smax or finding a comfortable driving position nor does my eldest who is 6'4",did you adjust the steering rake and reach aswell??. as for the throttle,we have 2 smax's in our house(missus 1 goes back end of september)AND i was forever stalling the bloody thing,she hardley ever stalls it,i put this down to being a spanker rather then mine which is WELL run in or that she perhaps knows how to drive properly :35: .on mine its faster and gets better mpg,hers has got about 25k mines got 107k,trouble is its a long for customers to wait to get the best out of there cars.

thats very good news m8ty,

you can do a temp fix if you have enough wire length.even if its just twisted together and taped up just to get you going,but make sure you do a proper job when you have the chance.

welcome to the forum, have you taken a looksie at the alarm module iirc found under the wheel arch passenger front wheel.from info i have seen this seems to cause a lot of problems when water gets into it?
