Raiotor Fan - Horrible Noise

Why anyone would want to fit the word TRANSIT on their tailgate is beyond me.....
-
Why not have one ? Because if it was fair, (i.e. GTEUK's dog won again!!!) and it was a technical question about Galaxys (not the MkIII imposter!) then SEATKID would win everytime! ;) and I don't think a 10% discount on a air freshener would do anything for me. I would probably donate it to charity....(GTEUK's dog). BTW the answer is "RAWLPLUGS" ;)

Don't be fooled by the marketing con misleading advertising. FACTS Mk1 galaxys were fitted as standard with...... Osram or Philips bulbs. The best "+50%" bulbs on the market are....... Osram or Philips. The "+50%" is a just selected version (suffix A) of the standard version with around 3% average increase in lumen output (not +50%) The 50% claim should really read "up to 50% brighter than those cheap and nasty, made in china, bulbs you got down at the discount motor place" Whenever I change a tyre, bulb, oil, air filter etc, I swear the car's running far better than it did before. In fact this is a pyschological effect known as "I've just spent some money on this so its got to be better syyndrome" ;) Cheap "Xenon" bulbs not made by Osram/Philips can sometimes be a little bit brighter, but they usually have terrible light distribution and pop after a few months. I know all this cos I been there, done that, scratched my bollocks head a lot wondering what the f...., got the PhD degree researching it thoroughly and have the empty wallet to prove it.

I wonder how long it'll be before they discover that the people "affected" are all employees of Sainsburys  -

Beware: Defective Fuel In London Area
seatkid replied to Gteuk's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
And the local "cheap MOT" place up here has a queue of cars requiring new brake discs...spooky or what? "Not running right sir?" (sharp intake of breath) "Looks like the Oxygen sensor.......we're looking at least -
EGR valve, crankcase breather and (less likely) turbo. Intercooler is probably full of oily gunge by now and could do with cleaning as well.

Things That Irritate Me About My Galaxy
seatkid replied to a topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
The thing that really irritates me is how mine only averages 57mpg over the last 5000 miles - can't seem to crack the 60mgg average barrier! -
Petrol engines (e.g. yours) have camchain. Diesel engines have cambelt.

Fan Belt, Or Aux Belt? Possibly?
seatkid replied to Jimbo73's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
<< Topic continues after these short adverts >> Feeling depressed? Getting that screeching belt feeling? Worried that your lack of knowledge will prevent you stripping down the engine in confidence? Not yet realised that Galaxys (and most other cars) don't have fan belts nowadays? Then hopalong to the SEARCH BUTTON and search for "seized a/c compressor" and your knowledge may be expanded.... << end of short advert >> I have nothing constructive to add apart from "it's probably too late now to save it..." :( -
I understand that the recent tie up between Ford and the Vole will possibly mean that future Galaxys will be supplied with ECU software that will need to be activated. You will not be able to transfer your software (i.e. sell your car) and any modifications will render the software invalid and the car undriveable.

2l Misfire Lack Of Power Hekp Im Stuck
seatkid replied to zorgman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
AFAIK O2 should be 1.00 +/- 0.05 Your car is running way too rich, possibilities are air intake blockage (air filter) - exhaust system blockage (cat) - fuelling system problem. -

1. Try and close the door fully i.e latch fully engaged - a good shove may be needed, then lock/unlock with key or 2. Try and open with the key held in the unlock position or 3. Paint he car red with a white stripe down the middle and enter in"Dukes of Hazzard" style!

Try rebooting with a floppy/CD/USB - if you have one - MSDOS is always a dependable disk! Pull the connectors out and remake them, the flat ribbon to the LCD have a lock, unlock and pull the cable out. It takes a lot to kill an LCD screen, they even work (more or less) with smashed glass!
-
strip it down and check for connectors that have come adrift (e.g. on the HDD) - hard disks are pretty robust and unlikely to be terminally damaged (although some data may be corrupt)

Anyone Know Of "electrical Issue's"
seatkid replied to Dave-G's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Just looked at your profile, looks as if you have a PD (we dont refer to them as a TDi here...), in that case your injector(s) may be duff, them unit injectors are electrically controlled, and theres the potential of camwear due to wrong oil. -
