the answer is yes/maybe/no. What are we? Crystal ball gazers? :D Is it a petrol? Is it a diesel? Does it run on cow dung? Has it got 3,000,000 miles on the clock? Is it 43,000 miles since you changed the oil? Without detailed information about the car, the symptoms (is the smoke black,blue,grey,white,orangey)........oh why do I bother?? :D

Grease from DMF? Thats a good one, almost as good as "they all do that"! AFAIK the DMF is just a sandwich of 2 steel plates with bonded rubber in between - no grease involved. When they go, the shakes start and you can end up with a fire! Check the recall for DMF's you may be covered for a free replacement - see this post for further information. I think its just a dicky injector - try some injector cleaner in your fuel - that Miller stuff.....

Oil Overfill- Advice On Removing Please.
seatkid replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Don't bother - 1 cm is not going to cause problems IMO. If it was over filled by a garage it's their responsibility (at their own cost and some COMPENSATION to you) to correct it. You mention that it is still over after a visit to a garage? What?? Didnt you check it at the garage before you drove away? Sheesh!! :D -
2.3 Overheating On Idle Part Ii
seatkid replied to jimjamjo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Theres nowt wrong!!!!........moving from middle of R to start of M is minimal! and far less than I would expect. My Diesel will move its needle more when idling a long time..... -
They are located......on the engine! -_- Sorry....Never heard of an engine speed sensor - maybe you mean cam position sensor or even crankshaft position sensor.

2.3 Overheating On Idle Part Ii
seatkid replied to jimjamjo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Isn't it normal for petrol engines to creep up in temperature when idling? (esp in summer) So long as it comes down when the fan cuts in thats OK. Don't know how big the NORM on the gauge is but I guess that N to M only is about 10 deg at most. If you are convinced there is a problem, then it could be your radiator is a little clogged up or it could be the thermostat isnt fully opening. (Jimjamo - Did you change the thermostat with the pump?) BTW if you did a little bit more searching you will find the "failing water pump problem" is restricted to VW engines - they are the ones with a plastic impeller. The Ford engines (2.0/2.3 litres) don't have the problem. -
Look at your own clue. I think some wiring was disturbed or incorrectly reattached.

If the high level stop is working, it is either the electronic current sensing circuit in the Central junction box which is under the fuse box -(this item doesnt appear to be replaceable), or it is simply a wiring fault. Its not related to the brake switch as all brake lights (inc high level) are fed off the same switch circuit. Work back from the bulbs (they are the correct bulbs right way round?) check for voltage at the bulb base and then the wires in the loom (black/red - RH, black/white - LH). It is common for wires to break internally in the rubber gaitor - you would not see this as the sheath will still cover the broken cores. I do wish people would make more of an effort to obtain/read wiring diagram themselves (TIS CD).

Blowing Hot Air All The Time?
seatkid replied to ATB's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
At this point I should dive into the TIS and check my facts....but its a Friday night, I've just had an arguement, and I have a bottle of wine to finish..... -
Can't be much of a garage to sort this one... Is this an 4 x 4 automatic? You're down to ignition switch, wiring, fuse or isolator switch (wiring to or adjustment of) You do realise that automatics have to be in N or P and (IIRC) have the foot on the brake to start?

Yes  The servo motors come with the electronic climate control variants. -
Check the wiring loom in the tailgate rubber boot first. Broken or shorted wires.

Life's a bitch. :P Most people today are self opinionated, selfish, greedy barstewards. You've gotta to try and switch off when things get too much. Believe me, I been there, got the tea shirt etc. Have more confidence in yourself, be hard, don't rely on so called friends or family - I found they eventually sh*t on me too! :P
-
I expect you'll be asking someone to come along and pull it for you as well! :P Try the pictogram on the fuse box lid, or even your car's manual. If you want some kind soul to look it up on the TIS, you'll have to grovel and supply full details of your car, year, model, engine, gearbox, options, size of fluffy dice, your blood group etc :P Unfortunately, that kind soul will not be me.... :P

Yellow pages Hundreds of places... first decide what kind of battery you want - I would recommend you stick to major brands and one with at least a 3 yr warranty I got an Exide Ultra 95Ah with 4 year warranty from ATS for

No not really, the tappets are hydraulic and and wear should be automatically taken up when the engine starts. The head has to be stripped to change them. I would be surprised if they are worn, but its not unheard of. Make sure the tapping is not "normal" before you spend

They should not have repacked the CV with grease - it was obviously faulty and should have been replaced. The other garage have taken the opportunity "what the hell, change the other side as well!". It may well be faulty, but something tells me its not. One side failing has no bearing on the other side.

As wolfie says check for detached bowden cables either at dial end or heater flap end. Also small possibility the cable has snapped. -
Yes, with the ignition off, press and hold the trip reset button, turn the ignition on (dont start the car) still holding the button in until the service indicator goes out (approx 5-10 secs).

Does it have Climate Control (electronic) or are the heater controls manual dials? -
Phone around - try yellow pages for gearbox specialists,
