  1. Rough idle - check / clean / replace idle speed control valve. Sticking accelerator - throttle cable / throttle body? You've replaced the lambda sensor but you could also check the MAF sensor.
  2. There is no 4.6l V8 diesel, it is a 2.7l V6. There is a 4.4l V8 petrol engine but that is produced elsewhere.
  3. Yes, the 110 also has a variable vane turbocharger.
  4. Summer tyres are usually fine for UK weather conditions. Winter tyres can be useful in areas where more extreme weather is experienced but they will wear quicker. Four Yokohama tyres for
  5. It's definitely not a Renault unit. Ford developed it with PSA (Peugeot/Citroen) but manufacture it in Dagenham. PSA manufacture their own for Peugeots and Citroens. It's possible (but unlikely) that they also supply Renault.
  6. Mk2s were built from April 2000.
  7. It's a Ford engine, basically just a larger version of the 2.0 TDCi. It's also used in the Jaguar X-type, Ford Mondeo ST TDCi, new Land Rover Freelander . . .
  8. ... but it won't work with the Ford 2.3 engine.
  9. I'm not an expert, but the MkII AG4 gearbox shouldn't be much different to the MkI AG4 gearbox. However, the AG4 was only fitted to the MkII 2.3 Galaxy - the MkII 2.8 V6 Galaxy had the new AG5 gearbox which would probably be less straightforward to fit to a MkI. Also, as yours is a 4x4 another point to consider is where is the rear driveshaft connected? It might be that the 4x4 AG4 gearbox is unique?
  10. That's funny - the first step on the TIS for removing the accessory drive belt is "remove undertray"!
  11. I think the "cover plate" you are referring to is the vibration damper which requires a special tool to remove and refit so is probably best left in place! However, the belt should still be removable from the crankshaft pulley - the vibration damper just gives it a bigger lip for the belt to go over. If there is sufficient slack it shouldn't be too difficult.
  12. If it's the PD engine he's got then he won't be able to time it using VAG-COM.
  13. I found this on a Fiat forum - http://www.fiatforum.com/uno-technical/129...tml#post1374226. It shows Fiat Uno engines - 1.2, 1.4 and 1.4 turbo, torque (Nm) and power (kW) curves. (The torque is the lower/flatter curve since power is proportional to torque x rpm). The scales are obviously different between each graph but it shouldn't be too difficult to read off a few values and amalgamate them onto a single graph.
  14. VAG-COM should still connect to the VW modules (of which the airbag module is one). The cable you were looking at looks OK as long as you have a laptop with a serial port, otherwise you'll need a USB lead.
  15. There will obviously be a difference between the ST170 and the Galaxy but I would never describe the Galaxy's ride as "bouncy". Is it bouncy in that it takes longer than it should to settle down after going over an uneven surface or is it a vibration like a wheel out of balance? You can check your shock absorbers by pushing down on each corner of the car. If it takes more than one or two bounces before settling down the shock absorbers probably need replacing. Also look for leaks from the shock absorbers. Are your tyres inflated to the recommended pressures?
  16. 13,500 miles is not too bad, many achieve much less. If you have inflated your tyres above the recommended pressure then that's why they are worn more in the middle than the edges. (Underinflated tyres will wear more on the edges than the centre). Stick to the recommended tyre pressures!
  17. Probably LX but there will be differences in specs between countries. Does it have: Steel wheels or alloys? (the LX had steel, the Zetec had alloys). Parking sensors? (LX without, Zetec with)
  18. Have a read through this - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...st&p=115004. It might be better just to fit brighter bulbs to your existing headlamps.
  19. Don't you also need to fit headlamp washers to comply with the regulations (or do you already have these)?
  20. Check here - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...st&p=117281. Perhaps bigkev coudl update us on his experience with them? XL and RF mean the same thing and you must have these on the Galaxy. 95 and 97 is the load rating and must be at least 95. The speed rating must be at least H so V and W are OK but some people have suggested that higher speed rated tyres wear out quicker. No need to inform your insurance company as long as you have 95H as a minimum.
  21. Surely it's best to fit a new MAF, clear the fault codes, then see if anything re-appears? HO2S is the heated oxygen sensor in the exhaust.
  22. Sounds like familiar electrical issues already comprehensively covered on this forum - if you search you'll find the answers. The compressor not working will not adversely affect anything else, you just won't have A/C (so your mpg will be better!). If it's a 2.3 petrol engine then the C/C is performed by an actuator on the throttle body. If it is a diesel or 2.8 petrol then it has the VW drive-by-wire system and the cruise control not working could indicate further electrical problems as it is all controlled by the engine ECU. I assume you are not buying from a Dealer otherwise you'd be getting them to fix all these problems before you buy it. If it's a private sale and you're confident that you could fix these problems then get them to drop the price as much as possible to account for this. If you're not confident about fixing them then look around again - there'll be plenty more on offer in better condition.
  23. If you're talking about the roof rails that run along the length of the car on either side then mk2vr6 is correct (if a little sarcastic!). These rails are a standard factory fitted item and you would de-value the car by removing them before selling. Roof bars are what usually attach to these rails and run across the width of the car to enable you to carry a load on top of them. If you have these then it might be possible to remove them and fit them to the roof rails on the new Galaxy.
  24. VAG-COM will only talk to the VW modules, i.e. not the Ford engine ECU. The Ford system is WDS but Elm327 might work as it's a generic OBD2 reader - best to check with the Supplier.
  25. Probably the V6 if you're towing but have you considered a diesel? Excellent torque for towing plus better economy.
