Hi Steve That plate shows the gross car weight, i.e.: 2030 Kg gross vehicle weight 3630 Kg Gross Train weight (car and trailer) 1120 Kg Gross front axle 1010 Kg Gross Rear axle (max weight on each axle) So you need to weigh the car, and that is the unladen weight of the car, but the 2030 is the maximum weight of the car and all its passengers and load(i.e. In the boot) Hope that makes sense? Hi again As td90 says, its not law, but its a good guide line, but the best thing to do is fill the tank with fuel, and look for a weigh bridge, and weigh it, that's you ULW, so use that figure, and also weigh The caravan, poss with some bits in, i.e. Bedding clothes etc, and again weigh it, and then do the calculation to get you 85% But the heaver the car/lighter the caravan the better, and don't forget, you might put awnings and extra's in the van, and this will add to the weight, and don't forget your "nose" weight, that's the Pressure you put on the towball (on average its 75kgs) but check you cars figures. If the setup looks overweight, the police will be sure to pull you, and if not all correct will fine heavily and poss confiscate. So as you say might be better using a 4x4 Radiotwo

Hmmm just what i was thinking. Fleetwood build a very good van but they dont come light. Yes i had worried about the weight of it. I looked in to it before i got it and it's fine. Thanks for all the comments. Happy holidays me thinks  Hi Steve what is the ULW of the car, and the weight of the caravan, I bet its over 85% !! Radiotwo

Hi Steve First question, have you tried "giggling" the steering wheel about a bit?, as usually won't turn if the steering lock is in place ! but to remove the barrel, if it is the same as most you have to drill out the "sheer"bolts, then replace the barrel with new(and keys) if it was me, I would try and get some lock oil, or get a pencil and rub on glass paper, and some how blow the dust down the keyhole and try and free it off !!(do't use WD40 or anything like that, its corosive) hope that helps Radiotwo

"testing for a hot fuse with a drop of water is the accepted way" since when ! the only thing you are going to get is steam, if that is the case then its too late. I have been an electrition for 30 years, and never heard that one, must do more reading ! Little tip, A little knowledge is dangerous. on a serious note, 12 volt electrics are very powerfull, and could melt the wiring, causing a fire, so please get someone who knows what they are doing Radiotwo
-
I don't know what that fuse does, but I would get someone who knows what they are doing to look at the car, as when talking 110amp fuses getting hot you need to be carefull, and "I checked the fuses with water after fitting the new box" is not the right thing to do Radiotwo

Hi GR The reason for the wiring kit, is the car wiring is called can-bus and you cannot connect direct to the car wiring, but there is a box that converts the wiring, they are very simple to wire, and some come as a kit specific to each car, and various prices. the other part of the electrics are to supply the caravan with power to the Fridge, charge the battery, and supply power direct from the car its self, this is called 7S wiring. if you want to do this, its easy, but does not connect to the car wiring as far as the can-bus, it connects direct to the battery, but you need to use as thick (as you can) wire, and run it through to the back of the car(I usualy run it under the chassis) and up into cubby hole at the back, there you need to connect something like a Smartcom, and then run the four cables from there to your 7 pin socket ie, one for the fridge, one for battery charge, and one for the constant live, and of course the earth. http://www.towsure.com/bespoke/dedicated-wiring-kits.html http://www.towsure.com/product/2973-Self-S...elay_Wiring_Kit hope this is of help, but please take the advise of the thick cable very important !! Just for info, anything more than 14.4 Volts will cook the battery Radiotwo

Hi Mark if thats all it is is slipping ! and the belt its self is ok (see if there is any cracks across the belt) then just adjust the belt, by undoing the tensioner bolt, moving the pulley, so as to tighten the belt. if you cannot take up the slack, you will need a new belt, and as stated undo and slacken adjuster take off old belt, replace with new and tighten up, not too sure but about 1/2 inch play at the longest bit will about right for tension Radiotwo

Why did you change the battery in the first place? check out the charging system to make sure its not over-charging!! Radiotwo
-
Hi Garry You do not say if it is a petrol or diesel, but it sounds like a servo problem, the main thing to check is the vaccume pipes for a split/blockage,if it is a diesel check the vac pump is working ok, if all the vac system is ok , its poss the servo its self, and poss a replacment, I think you can get a seal repair kit, but unless you are ofay with how to do it, I think it is easy'er to replace. Hi Mos, Sorry I am using the latest version (704) and uses the USB and was just plug and play. I have heard of a lot of problems with the leads on ebay, some work and some don't. Some one will come along soon and answer the question ! Radiotwo

Hi Joiner I assume you are refering to the car charging system! You say yours goes off and on ! how do you know it is doing that? As Bleeno says you need to tell us more, but the charging should not go off and on. But when you tell us more, like what size cable, and how hare you charging ? please there is no need to shout !!
