Radio. Really Bad Interference On Am.
RADIOTWO replied to sadgunner's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Had a thought earlier!!!! So looked at aerial connector to rear passenger window. Opened it and found the connector had become detached, reattached it and it appears to have solved the crackling !!!!Looks like it wasnt making proper contact, just barely touching when window was closed. Does the FM waveband use a different aerial, as this was never affected? Any views on this? Cheers Hi sadgunner No it will use the same aerial, but there is a great diffrence in frequency between the AM and the Fm band, (800Khz on am and 90Mhz on fm ) so the lengths are shorter on FM than on Am so the FM wouls poss still work but not the AM but also as you had a break in the connection you were getting interference through the cable Radiotwo -
It sounds like something is sized ! you say the lever only moves 1" so it could be the cable, but there could be more to it so it would be worth stripping down the pads and calapers so see what is the problem also pads and or discs worn so it a stripdown Radiotwo

RADIOTWO replied to hugh64's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Hugh You say "keeps blowing 150Amp fuse" how many times? First thoughts are a massive short, but you say the Alternator is ok ! what tests have you done? the second thought check the electracal connections (not just the fuse connection) but underneath where the wires attatch. -

You have answered your own question, but sounds like you need a new glow plug, so now read the posts and you should be fine Radiotwo -
Hi again Yes its to align the mechinisum so it can be mounted vertical or horizontal (or between) I assume when you had it under thw seat it was lay flat ? and now you want to mount upright ! if you will have to change the pins (do both sides) I think on mine there is a arrow which points the way you want it to mount ! Hi Smudge Yes the plastic covers come off, and move the pins as you say, then the covers should go back on ! Radiotwo

Topping Up Brake Fluid?
RADIOTWO replied to Deanoecosse's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
"or am i talking out my arse as usual." I am affraid so ! Fluid is able to flow both ways, if there was a valve, and you pressed the pedal the breaks would stay on and not release. so unless you are changing the fluid, the less chance of getting air in the system the better. when reading posts on this and other forums the most brake related problems are when people who change there pads, and find the pedal is sloppy or soft, but when you read into the problem, they have opened the bleed nipple and got air in. I have never opened the nipple when changing pads on any car(inc of abs Brakes) and never had problems with seals or alike and other than the pads needing bedding in things fine and back to my first post no need to top up ! Topping Up Brake Fluid?

there is more chance of getting air in the system if you open the bleed nipple, the best way is just push the pistons back, and no need to top up! -
Topping Up Brake Fluid?
RADIOTWO replied to Deanoecosse's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
more like top it up! are you encourageing the back flushing of fluid from the calipers back into the reservoir via the valve block? When you push the pistons back, the fluid goes back into the reservoir, and if you have topped it up it will overflow and burn the paintwork ! Radiotwo -
Topping Up Brake Fluid?
RADIOTWO replied to Deanoecosse's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have you checked the Pads ? Other than that if your level is low you must have a leak, check the cylinders etc. but normally if you find the levels low, its a good sign the pads are low and the fluid is low because of that. so before you just top it check why its low, as when you replace the pads you will have to take some out ! Hi Cliff, Check it out with Vag-com Radiotwo

Ok you say you blown BOTH ways then if there was a bit of dirt in, then you might have lodged it in harder you should never blow (with a airline) the same way of the flow of water. as you say take off the pipe and blow back the oppisite way Radiotwo

Using Vagcom On A Mark 2 2.8v6 (2002) Auto

--> QUOTE(Paul B @ Oct 20 2007, 15:13:29) 118602Hi, don't fight folks!! Calm down! LOL I checked that the USB port was set to COM2, as suggested by the instructions (not 5??), and downloaded an XP driver from a link in another thread on here. Went out to car, and it worked straight away. Even picked up on a fault code I didn't know I had! Now all I need to do, is see whether my MAF fault re-occurs to see if I've cured it! Thanks anyway folks. A problem shared..... and all that.... PB Paul You don't seem to be picking up on the point! A Com port is a serial port and USB is not serial. So you cannot set it to a com port if it is a USB !! so please tell me how many pins the plug has? 9 or 25 ?? Radiotwo -

RADIOTWO replied to Paul B's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
^_^--> QUOTE(Paul B @ Oct 19 2007, 15:41:15) 118512Hi all, Recently went on holiday (1500 miles) during which the Engine Management Light came on. Called out AA, who checked the fault code and found it was P1152 (MAF related). He reset the light, and it disappeared for several miles, before re-appearing. The car runs fine, with no loss of power or mpg. I have fiddled about with the MAF since returning home, and now want to reset the Engine Management light, to see if I've cured it or not. So I have purchased an ODB2 lead (usb variety), and downloaded VAG 409.1 from Ross-Tech. The lead seems to connect through to the car, but it questions which vehicle I'm searching (which chassis). I have selected VW Sharan, and Seat Alhambra, but it just continously searches eventually finding nothing. On connection, the computer says it's connected ok (through COM2) which I've tested and saved, but I am unable to get any further. Which selection do I need to make from the Chassis Menu? Surely it should be either Sharan or Alhambra? Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. I am running XP on my Acer Laptop. Many thanks. PB Hi PB First you did not say where you got the lead from, but unless you got it from ross-tech it wont work, also the latest version of software is 704, but you say you have a usb lead, but is configured on Com 2 so that is poss why it does not work.
