  1. Possibly ABS sensor or wiring damaged when driveshaft was replaced, could be checked by using Vagcom will pinpoint which wheel is causing problem. Also ABS light on continuous is an MOT failure
  2. Looks like there both associated with bad connections, have you checked fuses? http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01312 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00532
  3. Haynes don't do one for the MK2, there is a Ford TIS manual downloadable of the net or Ebay you can pick them (disc) up for a couple of quid, think im right in saying they will only work up to XP operating system.
  4. Not actually done the job but an idea of using a straight pipe connector, cut off the end of your old pipe near manifold, push in a straight connector then connect the new pipe then pull old pipe in through dash hopefully pulling the new pipe in through the bulkhead.
  5. Engine code can be on a label on cambelt cover, also stamped into engine block with engine number, and sometimes in registration document. Will be one of these. AHU, AFN, ANU.
  6. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html Make sure you download VCDS lite software for the third party interface (dumb interface)
  7. Are you saying the front heater has been bypassed because the matrix is leaking into the car footwells, if so do you know whats involved to change it? and were the pipes just blanked off or removed from heater and linked together.
  8. May be worth checking/replacing pressure cap :)
  9. What model year and engine code are you?
  10. Christ you must have bought a bad un!! you best get a new CTS aswell as this also sends signals to the ECU, as for the heater getting hot, no it doesen't mean the thermostats opened in fact for the heater to warm up quickly the stat needs to be closed, stat should start to open about 88deg c you can confirm this by feeling the bottom radiator hose this will remain cold till stat starts to open.
  11. Could also be the bonding around windscreen becoming detached.
  12. Hi Andy Am glad you have had some improvement but think you now need to go down the Vagcom route, do you still have no speedo working? as Mirez said this can be giving wrong signals to the ECU, have sent a link for a cable. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-VAG-COM-/330399696070?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4ced5b44c6
  13. If this is a MK2 Check out the auxiliary fuse box next to battery you may have the dreaded meltdown.
  14. Check for blown fuses in particular 13,14,34 also check relays giving them a gentle tap 109,53,103
  15. If you have two they are one above the other, check switch for power supply and adjustment.
  16. Seven people thats a lot of luggage, we go to Germany a few times a year with a trailer 1.5 metres long 1.1 high 1.0 wide, costs extra on the ferry but keeps the car free from bags and clutter, keeps the weight lower down more stable.
  17. Some vehicles have two switches a black one and a blue one, and as Gregers said may need adjusting, if you still have a problem start by checking for power supply at the switch.
  18. Hi Seatkid Apart from drilling and re tapping. what about one of the many cavity wall type fixings?
  19. You say problem has started since stop solenoid has been changed, for what reason did you change solenoid. Year and engine code would be usefull
  20. If you have the bulb failure system on your car then you do need the bypass relay.
  21. Hi Joe You didn't give your engine code but if you have, ANU, AUY, ASZ, ARL code then you do have an intank pump. You should hear the pump momentarily when you first turn ignition on without starting engine, sounds like a squelch type noise from underneath the car.
  22. The EGR valve is mounted on the intake manifold with a smaller pipe connecting to the exhaust manifold, the three valves you mention in the picture the first on the left controls the EGR valve
  23. You need to be really sure these pipes are clear and not collapsed internally, they may look OK on the outside.
  24. 109 is found in the third layer of the CJB (fuse box) follow instructions on this link and you will find ;) http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?s=&showtopic=8810&view=findpost&p=68423
